  • The horror never ends! 2006-06-20 21:10:42 Recently enthused - and with the time - to continue working on my AMV, I cheerfully opened my Premiere file to find... I can't render. Nada. No disk access privileges. What the HELL is this??? WHY ME?!

It's trying to tell me I should give up, maybe. Tough luck! I won't! Ha!!

p.s. Brilliant idea for another AMV using, god help me, Advent Children to a very amusing Michael Jackson song.
  • Share the love 2006-06-13 14:37:24 So I've introduced about 10 people to the wonderful world of AMVs - people who'd never had even a glimmer of a glimpse otherwise - and via a big projection screen, no less. I cajoled my design instructor into showing Hold Me and True Fiction to the class, seems he also went and showed them to his other classes. This is all a good thing. A bunch of them are of the opinion that making an AMV is no big deal...har har har.
  • Eeehh?? 2006-06-01 10:07:25 Yeah, that's actually the name of one of my folders in which I'm reorganizing all my clips. Using Adobe Bridge, I am strategically separating all my video so that I don't have to import everything into Premiere, clogging up the program, with the added advantage that Bridge lets me preview my files, add keywords and do all kinds of other helpful stuff. The general plan is to work on the AMV at least 2-3 hours a week so I'm making some kind of progress. This sounds bad, but my free time is almost at zero and spending further hours in front of the computer messing with graphics programs is depressing.
  • I'm back! 2006-05-29 11:25:48 AB was a blast, not quite as fun as last year, but definately a blast. My costume did not accompany me (-_-) because it quite honestly wasn't finished. This is a shame, because NO ONE (that I saw) was dressed as any character from Blood +. DAMN IT. Anyways, I'm over it, next year I'll wow the crowd with my full-size coffin/cello case, clawed hand and maybe, just maybe, a real cello.

AMV competition was pretty good, some categories were better than last year, but overall I thought the entries were of higher quality than in 2005. The winner of Best in Show/Action is truly one of the most incredibly well-done AMVs I've ever seen. It's done with Princess Tutu (yes, that's a shoujo series) it's awesome and deserves to be downloaded thousands of times: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=118208. Apparently, after the AMV was shown, the dealer's room mysteriously sold out of every Princess Tutu DVD they had in stock.

Winner of best editing was truly awesome, AE showcase if there ever was one, and probably will sweep the cons this year if it's entered at other competitions: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=91813

You can find all the winners here: http://www.amv-contest-lists.org/data/animeboston2006.htm

  • Just because I have red hair... 2006-05-15 13:52:59 ...doesn't mean I have to cosplay as Sha Goyjo. Further, just because he's the star of my AMV does NOT mean his character gets special treatment by your's truly. I'd much rather go as Hakkai. I even had an idea to swipe my cousin's jeep and drive up to AB in it with some friends in full Saiyuki regalia, but this isn't going to happen for vaiorus reasons.

Instead, I'll be crossplaying as Haji/Hagi from Blood +. Why? He's not too hard, his clothes are comfortable and I happen to own his coat (or will, once I make a few minor modifications). Ordered my wig today, since dyeing my hair isn't a good idea. Still have to find the pants and some boots and make the belts. I considered borrowing a cello case, but hauling that around would be a royal pain, however awesome it would be. I really wish I was about 6 inches taller. Haji is not short (not that I am, but I'm not a guy, either). I am NOT wearing platforms, though.

My one fear is that I will be the target of glomping. I hear the fangirls think Haji's cute. :(
