Big day tomorrow
2006-12-07 09:46:05
After today, or wait...tomorrow, I'll either have zero time to work on AMV-related things or way too much. :( Worst-case scenario is I won't find out which is really the case until next week.
Kudos to Renee Saito for having the patience to accommodate my fluctuating schedule for her AMV interview. Why is it that the majority of my online acquaintances live on the West Coast, while I'm on the East?? It would be so refreshing to be able to talk to someone and be in the same time zone.

My brain is rotting
2006-12-04 16:18:00
There is no other way to explain my lapses into stupidity, which seem to be happening at an ever-increasing rate. Case in point: while taking great care NOT to breathe a word of my current job search at my present place of employment, I just got off the phone with my sister and realized we'd had a lengthy, loud discussion about my upcoming trip to visit her and attend a job interview, what I'd do depending on how that interview went and the details of the position in question.
DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH!!
OMFG...and I think my boss walked past my desk in the middle of all that.
This has to do with AMVs because it came to my attention, at the same time, that potential employers can screen me via my online doings despite years of taking extreme care to avoid this very problem. No, I do not play with MySpace, but I'm definately out there.
Thank god only AMV.org members can read this journal, huh? @_@'

Tutorial update
2006-12-04 08:53:12
After slacking off in all ways possible this weekend, I sat down Sunday night for about an hour to tackle some annoying problems with the pen tool tutorial. Experiments with ImageReady etc. turned out a decent video, but it triples the size of the tutorial itself. Further experiments resulted in the relief-inducing conclusion that I CAN tamper with all the other videos without exponentially upping the MB ante of the overall file every single time. I'm currently yelling at the program for a few transgressions, but overall am confident I can do what I need to do. I also made a few convenient Action scripts to hurry me on my way.
So:
1. Edit all the videos/link them
2. Change sizes of all videos to standards
3. Add in further explanation of a few things
3. Rearrange tutorial en masse to accommodate above
5. Make recommended changes a la guinea pig feedback
6. Remember to export the file compatible with Acrobat 7+!!!
7. Thoroughly test tutorial to ensure bugless existence
Meanwhile, I need to land that job in Vermont and move there (if I get the job) within two weeks. Haha ha haa ha.

Dum de dum de dum...

I think I've finally got this ImageReady stuff in hand, took me awhile to figure certain things out. Did you know that Adobe doesn't provide any help chapters for this program at all? It's buried in the regular Photoshop help section (and is really not that helpful).
I figure it's going to take another six hours to finish all the videos for the pen tutorial. Then I'll need another six hours or so to plug them in, run through a few other things, rewrite/reconfigure a few sections and generally assemble the final guide.
It occurred to me over the weekend that I've now spent enough time on this tutorial to have created a quick AMV. The things I do for you people. *sigh* Just kidding! ;)

Pen tutorial back on track
2006-11-26 11:53:12
Despite the derailment of the tutorial thanks to real life projects, I loggted another four hours or so on it this weekend thus far. My sample video WOULD be finished by now except for some bizarre glitches in my PS scripts and a weird Image Ready learning curve. This all was capped by the naive expectation of finishing the video this morning with one grand flourish, only to have PS slap me in the face with aforementioned bizarreness that I must now troubleshoot.
Is it worth spending time attempting to fix my "shortcut" scripts when doing what needs to be done by hand is simple and faster? NO. Riiight.
