  • It's done. Totally done. Go get it...or don't - I don't care, I'm done! 2007-09-10 10:29:08 Sephiration Anxiety - my first (finished) AMV

Announcement thread will go up tonight sometime.

*big sigh* Now it's time to reformat my computer. Oh JOY.

This is going to be a fun AMV to make. It's comedy, it's a song I've always wanted to use and what I've already got after only 6 hours of work already makes me smile, which is good because that means the gags don't get old after watching them 50 times, backwards and forwards and in little pieces in between. My only concern with this project is that putting together a coherent storyline will be difficult, since the storyline does not exist in the anime. It would also help if the final MOHS DVD would be released so I could get the rest of the footage I need. That's not going to happen until the end of the month, though. :(

It's rather amusing. Some people will read "only 6 hours of work" and think to themselves that they'd be done by now. Other people will think to themselves that I've barely started, which is how I feel about it.

Oh yeah, and Sephiration Anxiety is still alive and looking better than ever; I finally figured out how to properly attach my bumpers, get my audio track all lined up and generally make it an AMV that shouldn't get low marks for video quality or sound. Unless something weird happens, it will be uploaded tomorrow. I even made a nifty "advertisement" for it that I'll post in the forums with the announcement thread, I've seen some other people do this and figured what the heck, if it will increase the chances of people checking out my AMV, then I should go for it. I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out, too, given how little time I spent on the "ad" itself. Some of the graphics took me a long time to do, but I completed those quite awhile ago and - fortunately - didn't have to do them all over again. ^_^ I should post a screenshot of my desktop in the Donator's forum for extra exposure...NOT.
  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! 2007-09-07 21:59:21 *waits for someone to smack her*

    I'M DONE!

Can't upload 'til Monday, but I'M DONE!! Took me over four years to finally finish an AMV...ok, this one took me "only" about three months to complete...but how's that for persistence?! Good grief, I spent more time trying to get my hobby to produce fruit than I spent getting my B.A. AHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!! Quick, somebody smack me before my hard drive melts! Whheee!!!!

Note: The above maniacal laughter is due more to my finally splicing together my intro, AMV and outro than actually finishing this project, otherwise the triumphant screaming would have held off until Monday....I'm now waiting breathlessly for something horrible to occur to me that will once again delay the upload of this AMV and send me into a suicidal rage. Stand by for Drift gone insane...trust me, it hasn't happened yet. Scary, eh?

Oh yeah. A little over 100 hours of pure editing into this AMV. -_- Hopefully my next project will go faster. But hey, it took me that long to get it right (or rather, as right as I can get it, at this point) and I'd rather get it right than not put in the labor and have it come out wrong.

What did I tell you? 100 hours here I come. So I've got nice looking intro/outro bumpers for my AMV, but god forbid this last, tiny little task should actually go off without a hitch. Oh no...that would be asking WAY too much. The worst part is that the solution to all my problems, trying to attach those bumpers to my AMV, is probably moronically simple (or else I've gone so far that what should have been simple is now nearly impossible and I'm completely screwed).

    *is very depressed*

I Just Want to Make An AMVVVVvvvvvvv!!! How many times have I wailed this over the past few years? Why does almost every step of the way have to be such an uphill battle?? It's a toss up at this point whether my progress is the result of admirable determination or awe-inspiring obstinacy.

*gasp* I know what tripped me up. It's that banner I made for my so-close-to-finished-I-can-taste-it AMV. THAT did it!! If I hadn't jumped the gun and made that banner, I'd be having no problems whatsoever!! ARGH!!

Guess I'll have to count my time spent on bumpers as "editing."

Interesting experience last night. I went into After Effects to work on my intro and, after about two hours of labor, I suddenly realized what I was doing: working in AE without screwing up. This is really interesting, because I haven't touched that program in over a year and was never very good to begin with. I can only assume that all my work on my AMV, plus my work at work, has equipped my brain to better handle graphic design interfaces of all sorts. Aside from not knowing a few keyboard shortcuts (going to the next keyframe, say, and being too distracted to bother looking it up) I pretty much sailed along without having to stop and figure out how to do something. Of course...I also avoided doing things I don't know how to do. hehehe...hehe...he....-_-

Despite being pleased with my miraculous progress, I realized this morning that I made all my graphics the wrong size and that they will squish when PAR is adjusted. ARGH! Eh...well...eh...I'm really not interested in investing tons of time in these bumpers...I'll fix 'em, but I'm not going to try to do anything fancy with them. God forbid someone watch the intro and then expect my AMV to have special effects of an equivalent level!
