Just don't
2007-10-09 10:12:26
Don't show AMV Hell 4 to someone who isn't well-versed in anime trends, namely boobs, panty shots and bizarre violence. I made this mistake and now someone thinks I have the same interests as a 15-year-old boy. :(
And on that note, H4 was incredibly disappointing. It was executed very well, as usual, but the quality of the content left a lot to be desired. The only positive thing I came away from the experience with was a newfound determination to make FF7FM, because my shorts (IMO of course...) are better than most of what was found in H4.

Third time I'm actually using this journal as a portable notebook

Preserved for future reference: "If you're comfortable using something like MKV instead of AVI, it's also possible to use 720x480 for your resolution and set the display flag to 848x480 so that you can save some space there as well (this is also possible in MP4, but I just have a personal preference for MKV). And of course there is always H.264 like Willen suggested"
I need to figure out how to unscrunch my AC footage. I watched Sephiration Anxiety on someone else's computer and was appalled by the distortion, which for some reason never seemed that bad on MY computer. *scratches head* I guess those who gave me video quality a 10 also couldn't see the distortion, either. Fortunately.
woo woo and my Web site's finally working...except for one image, which thankfully defaults to the background color and isn't too noticeable.
BLEH my sister's cats are trying to eat my Chinese food!! GIT AWAYYY!!

I'm beginning to remember why I usually have to force myself to work on AMVs

WCWSWKA
Pre-edit: ?
Edit: 1.5
Having received the green light for fiddling, this Ghostbusters-themed AMV is not going to be a walk in the park. It can be done, I think, but it's going to take a long time and a lot of experimentation...two things I would wind up doing anyways, but it's more fun if your experiments actually bear fruit. WCWSWKA is beginning to look like it needs serious modification to the audio to even be marginally successful as an AMV - something I don't mind doing, but wish I didn't have to.
What this all boils down to is that I'm avoiding work on Takeout because that's proving even MORE difficult. :(

Whoa
2007-10-03 12:22:34
Someone put my AMV on their favorites list. THANK YOU...who are you? Why would you do that? What's going on here? I'm confused! (And what else is on that list?)
Quadir accused me of being hyper the other night. This is not true. IRL, I am one of the most laid back people you are ever likely to meet (someone once said I was the most mature person they'd ever known, which I found hilarious given all the things society would generally consider immature about me, my penchant for anime not being the least of it).
I think the "hyper" stigma comes from the fact that what you do online is pretty much all in your head, and while on the exterior I'm pretty low-key, there's a hell of a lot going on upstairs. I'd rather be this way than hyper on the outside and brain-dead on the inside...I've known a lot of people like that and it is NOT attractive.

Oh the HORROR
2007-10-03 12:12:56
I'm stuck up here in ultra rural Vermont, 1.5 hours from any major city and six miles from the nearest broadband connection. Consequently, I have dial-up at home for Internet access (which I detest, shouldn't we be in the 21st century by now? This is AMERICA!!). So the only way I am able to download anything, which includes AMVs, is when I'm at work where we have DSL. Up until a few months ago, I had a hard time doing even that because the company's Web policy is very strict and this site, among many others, was blocked.
Then it got unblocked and there was much rejoicing.
Then, this morning, I discover it's blocked again and contemplate suicide (not really, but I was definitely in a bad mood). I fuss a little about it but can come up with no way to validate requesting AMV.org (among other sites) be unblocked. Somewhat desperate after a few hours, I decide to try that fail-safe method for fixing all things that go wrong computer-wise: I do a restart...
And I'm BACK! Who knows for how long, though. :(
AMVing is one of those hobbies that requires a broadband connection to get the most out of. Can you imagine AMVs being as widespread as they are now without high-speed Internet? Nope. We'd be back to the old days...I remember those days, when anime fans shared home-burned CDs of Cowboy Bebop by mail. It's so easy to be an anime fan these days, it takes almost no effort at all.
One more random thought: it makes no sense to me how someone can give op ratings ranging from 7 to 9 and yet give a 10 for "overall." How can a video that's got under 10 ratings be as perfect (aka a 10) as a video WITH all 10s? It's not, so don't do it!! Sometimes I really wish "overall" matched the op rating that shows up when you look at what opinion rating an AMV has in general...
