Good: My revamped project settings are working. dokidoki thinks I can edit with my AVI clips and stop fretting about image quality. ^_^ Fine with me!
Bad: Whenever I'm on a "high" with an AMV, it's inevitably followed by a crushing low. I should know this by now. Why must I constantly forget? It makes the crushing so much worse.
Ugly: I've got three seconds of footage on the timeline and I spent 13 hours putting it there! (Ok, second time around it took me less than a minute, but still....)
I don't usually air my ideas publicly but...there's currently a radio advertisement playing about forest fire prevention. The gimmick is that the ad presents two guys talking about what you assume is a mass murderer of some kind, and after a little bit you find out they're referring to a Dad who tipped over his BBQ or something. I think this would be a great comedic AMV if you used AC and made Kadaj the Dad. :D Heck, maybe I will if I have time. It's not eligible for AB, though, since there's a newly enacted ban on all dubs for 2008, which I find somewhat laughable, considering an audio track is an audio track and if they're worried about being sued for a movie/TV show/commercial sound clip, they should also be worry about being sued for showing AMVs PERIOD.
I suspect the dub ban is an attempt to eliminate AMV Hell ripoffs, since folks are likely to use non-musical clips in such AMVs and make everyone miserable.

Top-secret my butt

I'm such an idiot....
Anyways, SA's back. I can finally move on and put that AMV behind me for all time. I don't have a choice, actually. I deleted all my clips the other day because
resurrecting my original project file(s) for that AMV would be quite difficult and keeping 25 GB of screwed up footage around for old times' sake is pointless.
In other news, I'm dabbling in four, yes four AMV projects at once right now, what with attempting to accumulate footage and music, work out storyboards and generally brainstorm. Got my first DVD of Excel Saga last night - I haven't watched that series for ages and it was nice to see it hasn't lost its punch after nearly a decade. Looks like if I really want to make that AMV, I could. It's a long series though, compared to what I have to deal with in other projects.
Not as long as Saiyuki, Lauren.
Oh, right, that was a heck of a long series to cull through.
And you never wound up doing anything with all that footage you collected, did you?
No...but not for lack of trying. I spent over 100 hours on that AMV!
Yeah, and what do you have to show for it?
Um...erm...nothing?
BINGO...wait, you really haven't got anything? You're kidding me...nothing?!
No, I swear, I have nothing! Well, I still have the clips stored on DVDs, but that's it. Anyways, I don't think I can make that AMV, anyways, but I did try so it wasn't all wasted effort! Look how much I learned! That's...like...double or triple the amount of time some people spend on one AMV! @_@

S.A.'s down

Much thanks to dokidoki for all the assistance!!!!
I can't find my top-secret upload information, despite the fact that I carefully wrote it down just this morning. Have to re-upload tomorrow. I'm not sure whether I should let people who left opinions know the "real" version is now available - it might be quite a depressing to hear from them (among others) that the corrected synch doesn't affect their opinion of how well I synched... I kind of feel like I owe them a decent AMV, though, since they took the time to op it. Not saying they have to download the new version, but...if I found out I opped a messed up AMV, I'd probably want to give it a second chance. Eeek! What if they dl it again and LOWER my ratings! Waaa!
Tonight I may try to edit directly with Advent Children VOBs, or test the bait and switch method. I'm not thrilled about what I'm seeing from my AVI files and I'm having second thoughts about not editing at DVD PAR if this is going to be convention fodder.

Well, I got my "look." It wasn't what I originally intended, but I think it will be ok. Now, after having stupidly edited for 12 hours with the wrong project settings, I get to recreate the wheel before continuing on. Hey, if this is the stupidest thing I do with this AMV, I'm going to be in great shape.
I may upload the original, uncompressed audio version of Sephiration Anxiety, tomorrow if the powers that be around here agree to delete the old one. I have no idea how this works, of course; do I lose all my ops and things? Does it wind up on the new vid block again? I hope not, if so I guess I'll have to suck it up and put it on my Web site and assign a direct link. I don't foresee a lot of downloads on that AMV anymore so it should be ok. I just want to quietly put the nicer, properly-synched version out there and continue on my way. :(
With my luck, folks will protest that the old one had better synch. Noooooo!!!

I spent all day attempting to settle on a trademark "look" for my AMV. Still not there yet. I'm running into my old bad habit of becoming so narrowly focused on something that I loose sight of the big picture. My main problem is that this song is pretty forceful, but the AMV is a comedy (or at least fun). I don't want to loose the force, because it just can't be ignored, but I have deliberately tone things down so the viewer remembers this is supposed to be humorous endeavor, not an action flick.
Then there's that old adage about, if you're going to go with a certain effect, use it every single time whatever it's synched to shows up. I don't know if I can pull that off...what it's synched to shows up a lot. @_@ It'd be stupid.
Oh yeah, and I got my official music for this AMV, much thanks to my kind mother who ripped and mailed some songs for me. She'll have to get a nod in the credits, along with my dog, for putting up with this excruciating hobby of mine.
