Preamble: There we go. 100 hours. As I said before, at least this AMV LOOKS like I put a decent amount of work into it. A big part of what's going on here is that I am having to redo the same scene/effect over 6-8 times, though. And my graphics...ick, 10+ times, probably.

The Good: Well. The very first scene I ever put together, the scene I intended to model the rest of the AMV after...it wound up completely not matching the rest of the AMV and I've been stressing out about how to resolve the situation because nothing, absolutely nothing was working. And so, as usually happens when I reach a certain point - creatively-speaking - where I am 2 seconds away from throwing in the towel and yelling "I JUST CAN'T DO THIS! I SUCK! I'M AN IDIOT!" inspiration strikes. About *checks clock* 15 minutes ago ithis happened and VOILA, pretty painless, pretty awesome results. All I've got to say is PHEW.

The Bad: I am accumulating a disturbingly long list of details that I must not forget to attend to before this AMV goes out the door. This wouldn't be so bad, except my mysterious bouts of memory loss are slowly starting to occur again and I keep forgetting to not only write these details down, but that they even exist.

The Ugly: Maybe it's because certain parts of this AMV were completed several months ago, but as usually happens with any of my creative projects, what once looked pretty nice now seems pretty shabby. The really, really bad part is that it's my entire AMV that is starting to look shabby to me and I realized today I have no idea how it's going to look to anyone else. Worse (yah, it gets worse), I can actually come up with quite valid reasons to excuse it's shabbiness, such as "If you consider how the Ghostbusters movie progresses, in terms of plot devices, comedic themes and character development, this AMV follows the same pattern." This is impressive B.S. - examine it too closely and it falls apart, but from a distance it looks ... plausible.

And speaking of Ghostbusters, VH-1 keeps playing that movie!! :D

Now I'm really getting close to 100 hours of editing alone - no calculators required.

I semi fixed the area I managed to so easily destroy, but now it's in the back of my mind to do something completely different because (to me) it just screams "SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS PROPERLY AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED!!!" I can't figure out how it COULD be done properly, though, without perhaps keyframing every single frame...which I'm not going to do. Anyways, it looks better than it did so it's just going to have to stay that way.

Now, hmmm, I actually wrote up an entire list of things that need to get done. Part of me thinks it would be better to do the fast and easy stuff first, part of me the difficult/I-don't know-what-the-heck-I'm-doing stuff first. Hrm...well, there are things that MUST be fixed, and the big scary stuff I can actually live with if I have to, so I guess that's the plan.

Heh, the closer it gets to March 1 (or Feb. 16 as the case may be, I've decided that this AMV really needs to be done by then or something bad will happen to me between Feb. 16 and 29 that will prove I shouldn't have held out until the last minute), the more I'm questioning whether this AMV is competition-caliber. Again, the premise is good enough...the execution...ehhhhh.....but hey, if the judges don't like it, they're not going to show it, so that's that. One could say it's not up to ME to decide if 'Bustin can make it to the big screen. If someone has an issue with it being there if it DOES get there...well, I'll just throw my hands in the air and say "THEY put it in the finals, not me! Talk to THEM about their "misguided" selection process!"

Destroyed another 5 hours worth of editing. No autosaves to save me, this time. Bustin' is now definitely NOT unofficially done. -_-

Someone once commented on the fact that FF7FM is listed in my profile area as being -2% done. How can this be? Well, IMO, that's what happens when you've got a good portion of a nice AMV done, then you lose all your work and you're fairly sure it's going to take longer to recreate it than it did to put it all together in the first place.

It's like whatever I do, I'm only making things worse. It took me about five minutes to destroy five hours worth of work and then about one hour and 55 minutes to try and rectify the damage...but couldn't. It's a darn good thing I've got my auto saves to fall back on.

If someone asks me what the worst/most difficult part of making this AMV was, I'm going to have to think long and hard about:

    Is it the track matte?

Is is the motion of the intro?

Is it gawking onlookers not gawking correctly?

Is it Reno being a complete ass and screwing up my choreography?

Is it Cloud's inability to hold a cool pose for more than 2 seconds?

    GGAAHHHH!!

I feel like Cloud's hairdresser, trying to mask his "do." And I hate messing with my OWN hair, so this entire process is highly aggravating. I wish I knew AE better, because I'd do the masking "live" in a heartbeat.

I thought of a catchphrase for my as-yet nonexistent 'Bustin banner:
    "Look Ma! No angst!"

You know what I'd rather see in voting for the non-VCA judges? The NOMINEES voting for who the judges are going to be (and no voting for oneself). I mean, seriously, talk about a popularity contest. One can almost predict the results... Thus my feeling that the nominated judges overall are probably more well-grounded than your average forum goer and more capable of choosing a well-rounded, qualified judging panel.
