My contrived ‘Bustin bumper is, possibly, going to work. Sephiroth is once again being a complete roadbloack, what with his inability to just keep his mouth shut and just stand there and look evil. (I am having unpleasant flashbacks to my last AMV, reliving the horrible frustration of working on a scene with an extraordinarily limited pool of footage to draw from, namely Sephiroth with his mouth shut.) Nevertheless, the bumper offers further proof that Advent Children and Ghostbusters share an amusing number of similarities.

So it seems I won't have to suffer through a Kaiju match at Anime Boston this year. Instead, I'll apparently be seeing The Pillows in concert. Not sure how I feel about this - young, silly, screaming anime fans are really starting to get on my nerves and I just KNOW they're all going to be packed into that hall. I'd say I was getting old, however I had the exact same attitude 15 years ago when it was my fellow high school students who were doing the silly screaming. -_- I will scream and make a fuss at the AMV competition*, but that's IT.

*please please please let me make it to the finals.

    1. 'Bustin is off to Anime Boston. We'll see if it makes it to the big screen, at which point my whole con experience is going to shift dramatically if it DOES...

    2. Got a quite nifty announcement poster for 'Bustin done. It's not what I originally wanted, but it's more than adequate. I just wish I could make it into a banner. Maybe if I animated it and scrolled it up over and over? @_@

    3. Bumpers are proving quite uncooperative. I'm in no mood to spend a lot of time on them, so what may wind up happening is I just make a title screen and stick my announcement poster in the credits like I did last time. At least that way my couple of hours spend on the poster don't seem like such a big waste. Announcement threads only last so long.

    4. Beta testers appear on the aforementioned poster, so I guess you could say that they're going to take some of the blame if I get slammed for this AMV. :P j/k Everyone was helpful in their own special ways and my AMV is definitely better thanks to their feedback.

  • A non-bizarre QC 2008-02-12 10:18:53 "Just a little FYI, the aspect ratio isn't off enough to where you can see it unless you really look (or unless there's a glaring warning in the video description) you could probably just dim that down a bit :P It's a really good video, btw."

Yes, I should dim it down a bit...at the time, however, I was in the mindset of "AGH!! I wrecked my AMV! AGh! I must confess my sin and beg forgiveness!!" Although if you read what it actually says, it doesn't seem like I'm all that wracked by guilt. hehe Gotta love it, though, the more people download my AMV, the lower its star score gets. It's apparently hovering right on the edge of its existing score, so every rating it gets really affects the overall results.

'BUSTIN IS DONE!! YAY ME! I think I canceled my plans for elaborate bumpers, too, so maybe next week I'll be able to upload it. Mebbe. I'll probably try to make them, and if things don't fall into place easily then I'll toss them altogether. I am NOT going to spend 20 hours on a 10-second bumper. Been there. Done that. Except they were more like 3/4 second bumpers.

I also made a vow to stop posting in my journal unless I had something meaningful to say, but I totally blew that already. -_- This is what happens when you hand an introvert who loves to write an opportunity to get all sorts of things off her chest that no one in her immediate vicinity could even begin to understand. Imagine what my significant other would have to put up with if they were into AMVs and I had a significant other. @_@
  • ? 2008-02-11 12:53:23 "I'm not fond of sausage.... But I like your vid" Why do QCs always have to be so bizarre? I don't leave bizarre QCs... Sausage? Eh?? Heelp...

Approximately 30 people have downloaded Sephiration Anxiety since it hit the VCAs. Approximately 300 people have decided NOT to download it since it hit the VCAs.

That big aspect ratio disclaimer I put in the info section certainly scared a lot of folks off. @_@ The way I see it, an AMV that gets into the VCAs with an aspect ratio problem probably is worth checking out, just to see what made up for the aspect ratio problem. I'm a terribly curious person, though, so that's apparently just me...

heh, I started showing 'Bustin around to a few people and the universal reaction is good. This is great, considering they are not aware of all the FF/AMV-centric jokes I'm making. This means you don't need to get a lot of the humor to GET the humor. Yay! That was the goal!

This sucker is 99.9% done. I keep tampering with the same old problem areas, but most of the time I'm only making them worse, so I seriously need to STOP and let it go. They will simply be added to the list of things that I wish I could have done better, and it's a long list already, sooo...

The MPEG-2 problems are still plaguing me, however it seems to be some kind of bizarre playback/display issue, not anything technically wrong with my encodes. I tried to put together a bunch of screenshots demonstrating what's going on and I couldn't do it, because I'd capture a frame of oversaturated, squished video, open it up in Photoshop and it would magically be perfect. I'd capture a frame 2 minutes later of this same "bad" video and get a completely different image in Photoshop. Might have something to do with my video card, mebbe. I don't know. It's crazy.

Hey. I'm up to 195 hours! This is why I keep careful track of my time, because otherwise I wouldn't believe it myself how long it takes me to make an AMV. I can sort of blame it on the source footage, though: Advent Children is quite bluntly a pain in the ass to work with. Regular anime is fairly static, you can cheat in all sorts of ways, but AC is motion motion motion and very uncooperative in the cheat department. There's a reason I only cheated twice in 'Bustin. That's right, twice. Wait, three times. Wait, four? er...no more than five, for sure. @_@
