'Bustin for Monday? That's wishful thinking...

All stuff about 99% done. I need to make a few minor adjustments to the intro, which has turned into an incredibly tedious process due to the effects I'm using that simply do NOT preview whatsoever and take forever to render...spent a few hours last night doing the following:
*tweaks gaussian blur/wave/ripple*
*spacebar*
Bleh!
*tweaks gaussian blur/wave/ripple*
*spacebar*
Better...
*Enter*
*twiddles thumbs for a minute while 2 seconds of footage renders*
ugh...nope
*tweaks gaussian blur/wave/ripple*
Repeat about 45 times all which ways. -_-
I gave up trying to do it in AE because the preview is so terrible, it's not worth my time if I have to export a movie to see if the effects look right. If I hadn't just spent $4,000 on vet bills, car bills and other bills within the past month and a half, I'd definitely be eyeing a new computer. I'm starting to see my aging PC as a serious roadblpck to my AMV endeavors, among other endeavors.
Anyways, I'll try to MP4-ize 'Bustin this weekend and hopefully release it next week. We'll see, I do not doubt for an instant something will throw a giant wrench in my plans.

One day soon, this title will read "Bustin is done, go get it." That will be quite a relief.

I passed the 200 hour mark without even really noticing. Huh...
I tossed my contrived bumper last night. Way too pretentious, also sucked the life out of my AMV, since right away you’re comparing the style of the bumper to the style of the AMV, and it’s like EHHH???? Fortunately the most important part of it was salvageable, so I stuck it with the credits on top of my funny sauce, conveniently resolving several problems all at once. Unfortunately, the credits now remind me of something for a sitcom, not sure which one – maybe “Everybody Loves Raymond?” I really don’t like that show. -_-
The intro is giving me a harder time. I’ve defaulted at this point to using my announcement poster, since it doesn’t fit in the credits, but I can’t seem to get some of effects right in Premiere. I will probably have to do it in AE. Heh, every time I watch the opening of ‘Bustin I imagine myself being someone else and all they’re thinking is: “That is so lame, what is she doing? LAME!” I’m counting on the fact that the lame part is just short enough that people will get past it right before they hit Delete, at which point they will hopefully figure out the reason for the lameness.

My dog is suffering from such neglect it's not even funny. She's already locked up in the house all day because of a leg injury, and now she's being ignored in the evening because a) I'm not supposed to take her for a walk or play ball with her and b) that gives me an excuse to work on my AMV.
The Good: Not much good. Wait. I made a banner. It only took me about 15 minutes, too. Seeing as how I misinterpreted the half-hour statement, I needed to make amends. :P Also, I found out recently that Ghostbusters is rated PG. I was fussing over my use of the word "ass" in 'Bustin on the assumption (harhar) that the movie itself was PG-13, but come to find out it's NOT...so I guess no one can really say too much about it being in my AMV.
The Bad: Can't get my credits looking right. I figure the curious will have a desire to see some of my funny sauce up close and personal (and holding still), but I really hate credits that drag on and on and on without good reason and I've got a lot of sauce to cover. *sigh* I must say, though, it's quite an impressive collection of sauce when I pile it all together.
The Ugly: One funny sauce element could, possibly, maybe, get me into trouble in terms of having my AMV shown in public. That would totally...be bad.

The comedy of errors continued this weekend, in that all my AMV endeavors develop bizarre roadblocks. First, Premiere kept crashing when I tried to export what amounted to black video. After a half hour of fighting with it, I changed the codec to the same thing I had to fall back on for my AMV (none) and voila, it was happy. I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with my HuffYUV codec. THEN, I happened to mildly crank up the volume on ‘Bustin and was appalled to hear all kinds of static – seriously sounded like I’d used an incredibly low quality MP3 for my audio track. Completely horrified, I tested the audio on WMP…same thing…even more horrified, I tested my ORIGINAL CD rip…same thing…further horrified, I tested some of my other supposedly high-quality music…same exact thing. So apparently my computer’s aging sound system is finally getting ready to fail, or something. I sincerely hope so, because my audio otherwise sounds extremely poor and it’s a little weird that I just noticed this horrible static NOW. In any case, there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it…
My contrived bumper is a go, in addition to providing more comic mayhem a la Ghostbusters, it has the added benefit of addressing a few concerns I had about the main AMV. ‘Bustin is fairly clean cut, as far as how it’s put together, except for a few instances there’s no elaborate transparency effects, which is funny because that’s the kind of stuff I really like doing. The bumper, however, is the opposite extreme, and as a result demonstrates fairly well that a) I can flagrantly abuse opacity, among other things, b) the editing style of the main AMV was a deliberate choice on my part and c) internally and externally synching straight cuts takes a lot more time and effort than synching massive amounts of fades and things. Yeah, I could have made Bustin’ in probably a quarter of time if I’d gone the latter route, but that’s not the look or feel I wanted it to have and the music/video combo doesn’t lend itself to that kind of editing.
Look at me, trying to deflect criticism in advance for my editing. lol
Sooo…the game plan is to try and get all the pieces parts put together this week/next weekend and then try my hand at making an MP4 out of the entire thing. I don’t even need to speculate about that going wrong, because I already know it will, probably delaying the release of ‘Bustin for at least another week, if not more, because I have company coming the following weekend and I can’t spend eight hours fighting with my AMV when I need to be visiting. For sure I’ll inflict ‘Bustin upon my guests, though. hehehe
It's quite interesting to me that I managed to do EVERYTHING I wanted to do with this AMV. That's pretty incredible, considering how many "things" there are and how unlikely, at times, it was that some of them would make it. But nope, somehow I managed to pull it off...and not in ways that make me feel like I had to get out the shoehorn.

Hey, it's all relative!

Half-hour shmaf-hour! If you figure I spent 200 hours and four months on this AMV, spending another week or two and 8-10 hours on bumper(s) is just about right, in the grand scheme of things. :P
This is my bumper:
This city is headed for a disaster of Biblical proportions.
What do you mean, Biblical?
What he means, Mr. Mayor, is (something something something)...real wrath of god type stuff. Fire and brimstone raining down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes!
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats, living together, MASS HYSTERIA!
See? It's clearly a summary of Advent Children. Except maybe the volcanoes.
