So within these last few days, I've been given a pretty sweet oppurtunity. I was asked to join Visualized Nightmare Studios, an up and coming studio headed by Krat and Kisanzi. The offer surprised me, but I totally accepted it, and I've gotta admit, I'm really psyched about it :D I hope that I'll be able to put in as much as I get back from being a part of this studio. Those two guys are pretty cool and yeah, I'm just really excited XD
I figure I'll put 'Lost Ones' out sometime next week. ACTs this weekend so this is probably not the best week to do it. Since Katsu is taking longer than last year to post results, by the time they do release the info, whether I get in or not won't affect when I release it. The cons in two weekends, so yeah, it's pretty much gotten to the point where it probably won't really matter. I debate over some weird things, I'm such a n00b XD
Ripped the song today...yeah...

Debate and Ponder
2006-02-06 18:20:53
Well 'Lost Ones' is completely ready for release. I've got everything set to go, and now it's only a matter of time. One thing holding me back from releasing it now is Katsu, which results have still yet to be posted for. If I don't get in, I'll probably put it up as soon as I find out XD. But if I do...well then I get to ponder and debate over when (as in how close to the con itself) I should release it. A few people have seen it, mostly friends and such, just to get some initial feedback. We'll see what happens.
It's been a few weeks since I finished editing 'Lost Ones', so now I'm ready to get into my next project. It'll be a straight-up action video where I'll get to mess with effects more, and use more than one anime. Everything as far as amv's is a learning experience, so hopefully I'll be able to learn a lot with this one. The song I'm using is 'Nas Ne Degoniat' by t.A.T.u and the footage I get to manipulate will consist of three sources: Dirty Pair Flash, Noir, and Kiddy Grade. I already have most of Kiddy Grade, and was able to find Dirty Pair Flash, Noir, and the CD on ebay for reasonable prices. My sister split the costs with me on Noir so that worked out as well. I feel that the song I picked will give me a little more freedom, because instead of focusing on the lyrics of the song, I can work more with the atmosphere. There will be lyrical synch, even though the song's in Russian, but I won't be as dependant on it as with 'Lost Ones'. Like I said, next project, new things to try and so forth.
So I've found my way onto the .org's irc chat room. It's actually friggin sweet, and fun. Always good meeting and talking to new people. Too bad it's going to be another thing to help with my procrastinating ways...oh well XD

Photoshop like what?!
2006-01-22 16:05:32
Well the first time I used photoshop was a long time ago, I think the version was like 5.5 or something like that. I don't even know if there was a 5.5 version, but anyways, it was a while ago. I didn't really know what I was doing with it, so I never really got into using it. Turns out I had to go in and figure how to use it when I made 'Lost Ones', but that was mostly for lip-synching purposes. Now that I'm done with the AMV I decided to start playing with it a little bit more. Before I got into AMVs I thought maybe going the digital art route but instead I went with the editing, and luckily I get to use photoshop anyways. Abstarct digital art are my favorites, both to look at and to make, so I found a good brush pack and have been getting myself more acquainted with the program and so forth. So far I've made a few desktops, a siggy, and things just playing with text. I decided to give this web banner contest a shot. If you like it, please deem it worthy when it pops up on the members page. Here's the banner I made:

The Next Phase
2006-01-14 16:02:24
Well I sent in the Lost Ones amv to the Katsucon contest. I still have yet to release it on the .org, but plan too within the next few weeks. I have the intro and credits finished up, but I still need to keep going with the photoshoppin' and make a banner, image, etc. I also fixed up a couple of small things that were bothering me with the amv, unfortunately I didn't get the chance to do that before I sent into contest, since I was so pressed for time. Hopefully those things don't kill my amv for Katsu. At least this will be the version I release on the .org (mpeg-1 version). So yeah, still a few things left to do. Debating when to release this, since the timing is important. Maybe that week before Katsucon, maybe earlier, maybe the day of, maybe the day before... I'm still not sure. I'll figure it out in due time, until then, I have finals to worry about. Yay...¬¬

Days 20 and 21 of 'Lost Ones'
2006-01-10 17:34:42
So...I'm finished with the video.
Yesterday I stayed home from school to finish it. From the gitgo, I told my parents that there was going to be one day that I was going to have to stay home to finish it the week before it was due. Yesterday was the only day my mom had off, so she let me stay home. My parents knew how much I had been busting my butt for this project. Shoot I've been doing it almost everyday since the last week in November, and usually for 3 to 5 hours at a time. I didn't catalog everything in this journal, usually just the days with the most progress. All in all, I spent 120+ hours on this AMV. Shoot I could of beaten two RPGs in that time!
Anyways, I spent about 8 hours completing it, then doing my third days worth of nitpicky stuff, and finally exporting it around 7 at night. I was incredibly psyched and hyper about it, to the point where I neglected to do my homework, so I stayed up until 3am finishing that.
I'm not putting it up the .org yet because I still need to make a few extra things for it like an intro, credits, sig, and whatnot. Those things weren't priority since they're not allowed in the contest. I've shown it to a few people already and have gotten some really positive feedback and good contsructive criticism. I plan on sending the amv to the contest either today or tomorrow, just need to get everything set up.
