Almost...
2007-02-09 01:12:44
My stuff for the most part is set to go so that I can start editing tomorrow. Just need to mentally prepare for it. Yeah, I guess I'm weird like that. I just have to really get going on this.

2006 is for Noobs: Serious Business from a Rookie
2007-02-07 19:19:11
Just wanted to write up a year in review sort of thing that focuses on amv matters from 2006. It was my first year, so there are just some things I wanted to log. I suppose this is the first. Yayz.
Beginning Times
Last summer I made the decision that for my culminating project for the following school year I would focus on learning how to make anime music videos. Luckily, my teachers didn't have a problem with me dedicating a year long independant study to the hobby. I had been around the hobby for a while, but it wasn't until my brother bought a copy of Adobe Premiere Elements did I realize that both my computer and myself had the capabilities of producing videos. I fiddled around with a bit over the summer, mostly just doing random crap like learning how to work with the timeline and just doing basic things with the program. I remember following VicBond007's guide and deciding to try ripping a DVD just to see what it was like, and attempting to work with that footage in Premiere. I also remember not knowing what rendering was, so I was confused why my preview window was always spazzing out XD. I never actually edited any amvs with Elements, just toyed around with it. I ended up getting Premiere Pro around the beginning of the school year, and had a great time learning how to use it even though I was feeling confused at first. I didn't start editing my first amv until December, so a good three months or so after I got Premiere Pro. That wasn't because I was still learning the program though, that was because I had so many things going on with school and band. Beginning of the school year is always like that. Anyways, I wasn't involved with the community at all at the time either. I just sorta hung out on the site, downloading the occasional amv and lurking on the boards. I was a big Kusoyaro and VicBond007 fan since their amvs are what really introduced me to the hobby after seeing them at many a Katsucon and Otakon. I think it's fortunate that I picked some rather talented editors to admire early on XD
Hmm interesting stuff to look back on. I'm just glad I started editing, and I'm glad my teachers let me use it as my project. Kinda nice reflecting on how things started out. That was probably pretty incoherent to anyone else reading that, fairly stream of conscious entry. Moar laterz. Tis all for now.
