Yeah, Singularity really doesn't seem like it's even the same band that put out Destination: Beautiful and The Everglow. The first time through that I listened to it, I didn't really get into any of the tracks, with maybe the exception of "Brink of Disaster", but that was probably because I had heard quite a bit already. Hopefully it'll grow on me...but I agree it's nowhere near as good as the previous two albums.
Personally, I don't really think you can compare Singularity to Cities. Both as third albums, the two of them show a different part of their band, but while Cities taps into Anberlin's darker and more mature side, Singularity just makes Mae look and feel like any other mainstream rock band. I'll admit that it took Cities a little while to grow on me and to get used to their more softcore sound, but now like Blueprints for the Black Market and Never Take Friendship Personal, I just can't seem to get enough of it.
But yeah, that's just my two cents. Either way, I still think the two of us should go and hit up their show in December since they're touring together. :) I mean, they can't play ONLY stuff from their third albums, right? - 2007-08-12 04:16:11 Track I makes me lawl hard.
