ugh. i'm kinda regretting working this break.
i got notified today that even if i only take a short lunch (15 min) i'm required to be in the office for 8.5 hours. no one told me this during the summer, what they said then was "do your 8 hours work and go home..." so now i'm at the office from 8:30 to 5....and i have to get ready for bed by 10 so i can get to sleep at 11 and wake up at 7 the next morning.
oyeah, this is a federal job so i don't get paid overtime. i can theoretically take credit time towards my paid vacation hours, but i have to get approved to do that, and it doesn't even start accumulating until i do 30 min over. these hours WOULD turn to cash when i leave at the end of january, but i wanna get home at a decent time (read: before 6) dammit!
i'm so fucking tired. i was tired an hour ago too...10PM on friday night and i wanted to go to bed. i still do. what sucks is i have to get up at like 10 tomorrow so that i can go to the post office and campus mail depot in order to get my mail from the last week and my LD from Japan (which better fucking be at the post office....)
in the meantime, i am so fucking psyched for katsucon. me and vicbond are running the AMV panel, so come, watch us have fun on stage, and laugh (which is what i did at otakon +P) it should be pretty cool, we're getting 2 hours and no panel competition. that's one of the three thoughts keeping me going right now.
the second is the 9,23/hour i'm making. 23 days, 8 hours/day. nice pay leads to number three reason to be happy: i'm buying lots of neat stuff when i get paid.
officially i have 20 days left to work. however, i get 2 days off paid: new year's and MLK day (being a fed rocks for holidays tho it sucks for most other things). this brings it down to 18 more times.
sadly i wonder if my supply of food that can be used to actually make a meal with will hold out until i can buy groceries. anne's busy all weekend and it looks like i'll have to wait until wednesday night to be able to buy food since i have no car. i *think* i have enough stuff to hold out....monday's out since i'm seeing cabaret (yay! after 2.5 years! welcome to the kit kat klub!!! [yes that's how it is in the script and program]) and probably buying my ticket for tommy (which i can see after 6 years.....)
tuesday i'm getting blown off so she can go to bethesda with the twit i used to live with to check out a megasale at a comic book store. she did bring me fudge (the stuff you make from chocolate and marshmallow creme) and some rice bowls tho....now i gotta get her a holiday gift, despite orders not to. i already know what it's gonna be too =P
so yeah, journals may be a bit few and far between...depends on if i'm bored enough at work to head over and post. in the meantime, i need to enter a placeholder for the 2nd katsucon vid. fuuuuun. -

In other words, they got to the campus mail depot (which was closed today) and couldn't deliver. I want my fucking laserdisc!!! Right now I also have no clue if I can actually get mail tomorrow or not - the flier they posted says they're closed but when I've asked people who are actually working there they've said they're open. I really NEED them to be open for not only should my LD be there, but the shirts I ordered should be arriving and I need those for work!!
In other words, I could really be fucked tomorrow....if I am, it's time to beg people with cars. -

spent money but didn't do any work.
on the other hand, i'm getting a tylor cel.
one line reviews suck. especially from people who know better. then again, that's what creator comments are for +P
i have also reaffirmed my love of the food network. good eats, iron chef, and unwrapped were all on in one night. yum. now i want marzipan, christmas cookies, and packet of burrito mix (the last of those items is vicbond's fault for reminding me that i had everything to make burritos except the seasoning mix and giving me a craving)...
looks like no one will be coming by on christmas. may be a good day to find a nice cd and just wander for a while. the day after christmas starts work again. ugh, while i love the people at my place of employment and i love the paycheck just as much (if not more), the work i have to do is fairly menial and mentally unstimulating, and i'll be doing it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for four weeks.
on the other hand, it's letting me buy that cel, and the mp3 player i've wanted...and pay my rent. and eat. yeah, eating's good. maybe i should become a professional chef instead of going to grad school....a PhD or the whole spic and span white outfit and the skillz to do insane things with chocolate.
that being said, bleach is cheap. on the other hand, being able to demand people refer to you as "doctor" is priceless....
anyhow, the katsucon vids are on their way to quu, who is so kind as to run them off to vhs for me and send them to the con, which means i'm set as far as katsu goes.

Time off is good....

Got most of a video done over the last couple days. It's nice when you don't have homework, a job, clubs, or anything else sucking up your time. I was able to just sit in front of the computer and edit for a while.
I've also cleared a bunch of my anime backlog. I'm now up to what I've got copies of in:
Vandread 2
Snow Fairy Sugar
Mahoromatic
and made some more headway into:
Lodoss TV
and finished
El Hazard (with only 5 months between eps 1-4 and 5-7)
Black Heaven (with only 7 months between 1-7 and 8-13)
Maybe I'll go back and watch more of KOR now or something...or if someone can get me sugar 8 i'll be set (already got 9....)
ah well.
