tick tick tick
2002-05-13 12:52:30
The nazi europe paper that is due at 2pm is currently printing out now at 12:50pm. it's been courier new'd to make page length, but it has enough words if i include the footnotes and the biblio. I have no clue if it's what the professor wants, and i really don't care right now because i don't have time to redo it.
I have my German oral at 1pm and other than going to class today, I haven't studied for it.
My final norse recitation is tomorrow at 3:30pm, I haven't started the 3+ hours of prepwork for that either.
I'm still not 100% good on where I'm living yet this summer.
Can we say "Stressed?"

She moves in Mysterious Ways
2002-05-07 22:31:20
Currently I am holding a borderline C/B in norse. If I study up I can probably get a B on my final recitation next Tuesday.
2 of my 3 Study Abroad classes are signed off for, will get the other one taken care of tomorrow and get it done by ARHU and get the rest of that signed off.
Found a potential sublet. $325/month+utilities, room in a house, has DSL, walk to campus. Will visit Thursday after Norse to see if it's all cool, figure out where the hell it is, etc.
Research is mostly done for nazi europe paper, read through a bunch of articles, going to break it into 3 sections - one on research on the propaganda, one on an analysis of the film, and another on the people putting this stuff out. That should all come nicely to about 12 pages.
Will finish researching & writing seminar paper after Nazi Europe paper is finished.
And I've been listening to "Mysterious Ways" by U2 a LOT today for some reason. I love the way the vocal goes on the verses, the melody is great.

2 4 6 8 SHOW US HOW YOU MASTURBATE!
2002-05-04 20:03:20
Yup, I'm going to Rocky Horror in about 20 min. They've got to start it early so they can get out of the student union before it closes, which is fine. I really am getting old, I can't stay up too late anymore. I'm tired by 12 or 12:30AM, when I used to be able to sleep until 10 or 11 (which I still do when I can) and stay up until 3AM no sweat. It's quite disconcerting.
Time spent on Norse tonight: 55 minutes
Work Accomplished: 10 lines prepped, 2 sentences (3 lines?) translated.
Time spent on paper: 0
I think my priorities are a bit out of whack.
It's raining. If I weren't going with Chris (and I weren't going to Rocky where it gets rowdy) I'd probably carry some good rain music with me to listen to, like Harry Chapin or something...actually I wouldn't - I don't have my Chapin CD's ripped for the Rio yet, and I really don't like keeping the Volt out in the rain anyways.
Speaking of rain and portable music and such, can anyone recommend a good pair of earbuds? I don't want to take my bigass Koss ones with me, as I'd like to be able to keep them in and sleep on a plane, train, whatever and just set a sleep. Likewise, I don't want something big and ugly around my head while wandering the streets of Europe.
I like Chapin's music and his stories. There's a lot of power in those songs, and they're a great listen when it's raining, or I'm feeling depressed. Chapin's songs are mostly story based, and most of his characters don't wind up living great happy lifestyles, which is part of the appeal - the realism. The taxi driver loses his love, the eccentric genius gets sacrificed to protect those who misunderstand him, the DJ is turned down, and Mr. Tanner learns the realities of performing.
Dammit, I want to listen to Chapin now and just started ripping my Hendrix CD and I don't have time to rip Gold Medal Collection before I leave! Argh!
At least John Prine is on Winamp right now.

Damn Good Idea...
2002-05-03 12:54:09
Kyburg: That is a very cool idea and I wish I had the time to do it. Maybe over the summer when I've got some free hours that aren't being taken up by stress, angst, and fun projects to try and relieve those.
In the meantime, I have to go get my glasses readjusted. We had one of those bouncy air cushion obstacle course things on campus for art attack today and i banged my glasses up on it and now the left one's sitting too high and I can't get the fscking thing back where it's supposed to go.
