JOURNAL: iserlohn

  • ugh 2002-06-12 00:37:52 a lot of shit went down today...don't feel like talking about it. those who really care and are aim-accessable have heard it all already. everyone else...sorry.

i will say that i almost started writing fanfic again. if i do start writing this thing i'll post it here for you all to laugh at.
  • Ouch. 2002-06-10 13:58:08 Kyburg: That totally fucking sucks. The plumbers better fucking be paying for all that since THEY fucked up the pipes in the first place. Unfortunately the electric bill didn't pay when they put my grandparents out of power a few years ago for almost a week - I thought they were going to kill each other by the time they left the hotel room...hell I thought they were going to kill each other within a day or so. Here's to you and Jim not having that many problems with it...though having the plumbers fuck up your house is a very bad thing(TM). What's your LJ address again?

I think I've found something more BS than Women's Studies...well, Women's Studies isn't BS, so I've perhaps found the most BS field at the entire university - American Studies. I'm taking a class on cyberpunk film from someone who knows SHIT about the subculture he's showing films of. And the BS 5 page Journal I have to finish...*grah*

In the meantime, I had dinner at my sister's last night. She's a great cook and taught me the extreme basics of wine (which I didn't end up liking very much...sour...and bitter...) A good meal, some nice conversation, and we finished by watching Dr. Strangelove. It's not a bad movie, but it hasn't changed my opinion of Kubrick very much.

Some good news, though. A friend of mine has offered crash space for three of the nights I'll be in Germany but I feel...odd...with it. We don't know each other that well, and it's his girlfriend's house, and I want to hear it from HER first that it's OK. There's also the issue of being there when the two of them are in love-love mode...but it's three nights in a hostel that wouldn't need to be paid for, which means more free cash for other things....I also get the idea they don't want to spend three days showing me around her hometown. *GRAH* Is this just too damned American of me?
  • Ask along that man who's wearing a carnation.... 2002-06-09 01:23:17 I love The Who's Tommy. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lower generation copy of the closing broadway show.

The AMST class is bullshit. Pure and total bullshit. Watch me be able to mindfuck the professor on his own terms. That'll be the only way that I can get through the insanely bad vibes that I get from being in that man's class...

Otakon AMV prescreenings went well, not sure how my video did, will find out when the list comes up on the Otakon creators' ML. My feelings on the contest for this year are a bit mixed. Can't say any more though.

I've been working on Silent Möbius lately. 3 eps down 24 to go. Yay.

I slacked off GRE studying again yesterday and today. I really need to crack down on that bigtime...maybe I'll leave the rio at home when I go to see my sister tomorrow and read the GRE book on the train instead of listening to Hedwig again. Yes, that's a good idea. A very good idea.
  • I'm kicking the flow 'cuz you know Bobby Jo.... 2002-06-06 01:09:14 Today I paid far too much for a xerox book, took care of some cash flow issues, and got some nice shampoo in the mail from my mother. I also watched a couple episodes of One Piece and listened to "Colditz," which is one of the Dr. Who CD Dramas.

I hate politics. I'm stuck in the middle of house-landlord-blabla fighting and I don't care. I've written my check, I have somewhere to live until the dorms reopen, and that's the end of that.

I did something else today but I can't remember what. Unfortunately I forgot to call the travel agent and buy my railpass. *sigh* that needs to go on the To-Do list and FAST. Same with booking crash space for my night in salzburg. So much to do and so much slacking off to go with it.

I blew off GRE's again too...well, not entirely. I *did* read a little on the reading comprehension section. It's just that the exams are so boring and reading 300 page books about the exams isn't so interesting either. Of course, the copy packet (the first of three we've been told) isn't the most exciting read out there either. It's about stuff that I like, but it's just....kinda dull. And repetitive. We're watching WarGames in class tomorrow though. That should be fun. I've seen it a bajillion times but I've go to take notes and stuff now. I just wish we were in a classroom and not a library room - classrooms it's easier to put your feet up.

So tomorrow is a day for the post office, the travel agent, and the classroom. And the ShuttleUM. Mustn't forget the ShuttleUM. I'd walk more but it's been getting hot again....and damn humid. Can't forget the Maryland humidity.

So that's how things were today. 8 days to AMA.
  • Last Train to Transcentral... 2002-06-04 22:48:40 I find myself wanting to go to bed earlier and earlier right now instead of later and later which was the earlier plan. Mebbe once the new DDR mats get in and I start playing again I'll have some extra energy. In the meantime I just feel quite slovenly.

Class began today and was...a bit classy. The prof. is obsessed with his childhood nyc theatres, which is an eccentricity that we'll just have to deal with. We watched part of AI today, and Thursday's movie is Wargames. I have to go to the copy center tomorrow to pick up the first of three course packets...grah. I totally slacked off on GRE studying today too.

I watched Excel Saga 19-22 today. I'll finish it tomorrow and probably start Silent Möbius.

    Other than that....uh......
