You're totally right. All these people saying "It's ok, to make crappy music videos, don't watch them!"
Those idiots aren't watching ANYTHING! There's TOO FUCKIN' MANY SHIT VIDS appearing here... (I'll say it now, I REALLY think my vids don't come NEAR these I speak of)
why?
I DO NOT use ANY anime [almost] that's in the most overused anime section of the site. I check that section periodically for a reason, fuckin' noobs. AND I DO NOT want to hear that shit that "i used to be a newb". I was a fuckin' smart noob. I avoided ALL of the popular music by choice and made amvs whose songs were all but unheard of. I used anime so new that they weren't licensed [digisubs] and STILL got 8+ for my opinion scores.
ErMaC said it best, "Don't make AMVs cause you can, make them cause you WANT TO..."
How does this work? "Linkin' Bark Z = I CAN MAKE ONE TOO! IT'S EASY!" It's not a good vid though.
I think I'll break this down into sections now. The amv - noun. a fanwork of art where the music and anime footage coincide together seamlessly. The footage and music are bonded perfectly: i.e. Euphoria, Odorikuruu, Doujin Addiction, Soul of an Angel...
utter shit - noun, excrement, or, what one claims to be an "amv" that's actually just footage with background music where the cuts / fx / scene changes are totally sparse and the vid overall is just random footage to BACKGROUND MUSIC!!!
Rubyeye and Grayplague and now me, 2JA of Omni Strata Studios. We all think alike. With the ease of creating amvs increasing, the number of dumbass noobs are also increasing.
Case and point: TOO MANY IDIOT NOOBS...

or... You didn't know this site existed and that very FEW of the "Veterans" here tolerate Linkin' Bark Z, THEN I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...
Again, why do I say this? I was NOT an idiot noob... No Linkin' Bark / DBZ vids from me... ^_^ No overused anime... Hell, I was trained by some of the best... -

Silver Flare...
It's a known fact that lensflares are NOT transparent. But, being the psychotic genius that I am, the Silver Flare was NOT designed to "cover up" anything. So, you can actually see EVERYTHING going on in the Herikawa-warms-to-Kei scenes.
This vid for me is what a timed fx vid should be. The effect placement is random, but the fx timing is ON THE BEAT WITH THE FREAKIN' MUSIC! I'm glad to say more and more of the fx I see in amvs today aren't just randomly tossed shit but by timing it to the music, we see something that "makes sense".
At first, [my friends are idiots] they didn't like the piano bars and couldn't figure out why they're there. When I said "listen to the music u fuckin' idiots, it's a music video" THEN they realized that the piano bars appeared for a reason found in the song. All the fx in Together were designed around transparency so I don't expect anyone to complain: "I didn't see this/that clearly, what happened?" This is what I call cosmetic placement of fx. It will make an amv more beautiful, but not cover up like a mask or plastic surgury... -

Now all these DBZ freaks are showing the world how UGLY an amv can get...
For the record, as of this writing, a DBZ VID is beating Euphoria!

hmm... "It's much easier to do it in AE and better too!" I totally felt uneeded. Just as I was diving into it too, I just don't see AE as being necessary to suit my needs...
But, I guess he had a change of heart... It took me barely 5 vids to truely "master" my editing tricks in Premiere...
AE is like a lifetime's study away but I think I can do it. It's just SOOo fucked up that it can't cut like Premiere does [nope, you get to go through the convenience of "layering" 1000 of the same footage if you plan to do 1000 things...] or something like that
I took one of my Premiere ppj files and imported it into AE and found out that if I used an ep like 30 times for scenes, AE HAS to use it in 30 layers, creating this HUGE jumble...
I CAN'T just work straight out of AE cause timing is a real pain. [exporting repeatedly? do you THINK I have the patience for dat shit?] I know Problem Slayer can handle it. 1.0+ GHz and 2 gigs ram total.... why not?
I know that AE uses mini files called "compositions" to really break down a vid into several different sub vids when layered properly. Then again, I look at Euphoria [which uses a nicely affordable prog to totally blast the competition that is Premiere]

The true words of a master, I couldn't have said it better myself. Don't go pointing fingers that I'm an ass kisser either... I don't know ANYONE who's this modest... Words of wisdom I shall live by.
I WILL learn AE, but for now, Premiere is doing what is needed. I don't see people complaining that Kevin Caldwell used AE for his "Engel" vid and yet it's still more popular than some high end "look what prog I used for this!" type of vids...
The ONLY existing reason i'm using AE is a petty one.... I CAN'T SHATTER IN PREMIERE AT ALL!!! [sniffle.......]

I'm working on that 2nd chorus, it'll be very "0_0" to the eyes. Distracting as hell? Since when have my vids NOT been distracting? Distracting video = one the audience is interested in. Boring video = sleepy audience... -

Yes that's right, After Effects is starting to creep up on me like a bad habit...
I open up the damn thing and it taunts me mercilessly... [I'm NOT that good at layering in Photoshop but AE is a nightmare]
However, that will soon change. With my most hugest [sp? ^_^] part of my vid coming up, I'm sure Premiere will just crash mocking me with : "After FX will save j00..."
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
On a GOOD note, the FUCKIN' REST of Boys Be [from ep 10 and up] is FINALLY getting finished by those slowmo fuckers at Anime Factory. There aren't NEARLY as many Boys Be vids as there should be on the org...
Watch the damn thing and you'll realize how beautiful it is too! Masami Shimoda helped direct it as well... ^_^ [Ai Yori Aoshi, Saber Marionette J]
