JOURNAL: OmniStrata (Joseph Aguila)

  • And another fun yet pointless post. 2002-08-07 16:55:31 Now that I think of my "nomenclature" system, I look back at all the videos with a "themed" effect.

Full Throttle - no themed effect really, just the "mist - dancer".
Dancing Stars - "Vertigo Strobe". That headache inducer toward the end. ^_^
Gimme the Beat - My first use of the common "echo pulse" and the dancing mini screens were used here. It's like Full Throttle. Nothing major.
Moonlight Vengeance - Tapestry Illusion. I like it, I like it.

Other vids with neat fx. Their names aren't Official, but if I were to name them, here's what they'd be.

    Odorikuruu: Fun-fun Spirals. ^_^
Closer and Sense of Identity: Both use that effect I term: "Breathing Warp".
I'm not sure if I can think of any other amvs with "themed" fx. :(

After listening to Lia's (I've) newest song, "Disintegrate", I got this feeling in my mind while I heard the pulse pounding bass vibrate within my psyche. I'm pretty much CERTAIN to use this effect in a future video. I call it "Resonance to Infinity".

Some effects that I have lined up for future videos:

"Revelation Break" - the original idea was similar to an Adobe After FX shatter, but it didn't go the way I planned and it's technically a fading, motion, split screen, slide. (try and say THAT ten times fast.)

"Resonance to Infinity" - It's a technique similar to "Vertigo Strobe" but it's not "flashing repeatedly" and it uses the "Gamma/level adjust" to end in a nice white flash burst after "vibrating" on your screen 3-6 times.

"Lensflare Transition" - It's in Full-Throttle, but it's nothing too hard or too easy to do. Just Lensflare keyframed to a white sheet, then lulled back down. ^_^

"Triple Threat MADhouse" - not exactly an effect, but the name of another studio I'm unofficially a part of. ^_^

"Requiem in the Mist" - a VERY secret effect I'm still trying to figure out. I only know it uses Luminance, but I'm still tweaking around Premiere's stuff here so it doesn't get to the point where you can't see anything at all. ^_^
  • The spelling is Important. 2002-08-07 10:29:00 What the heck is "Allusion"?

    :P

Anyways, I've got some slightly "sad" news. After seeing what "Revelation Break" can do, I've discovered that adding it to a vid as an "update" pretty much changes the WHOLE video, therefore, I've pulled it from Full Throttle. I'll use it in another vid sometime in the future.

If you want to know how it's done or what it looks like, I've used it in ONE instance in Full Throttle. ^_^

Gen-X Cops is one of the weirdest movies I've seen. I'm surprised other people have seen it (and hate it) too. I thought it sucked save for the final fight scenes at the end. That Japanese "end boss" character royally kicked all their asses. Even without the "secret weapon", I'm sure he could have killed them all anyway. The movie was directed by Chans so it's not as bad as it could have been.

I got to go see some more movies, on DVD THAT IS! HAH HAH!

DD, you can use any effect that you want. Just make sure that, uh, nevermind. I forgot. Spelling is important. Also, there are no "patents" on fx.

Full Throttle Update. About 8 MORE ACTION CUTS AND IT'LL BE COMPLETE! The changes from Full On -> Full Throttle...

Anime: I've modified/removed scenes from Inu Yasha, Initial D, Noir, Love Hina. I've added a slew of new anime: Gatekeepers 21, Groove Adventure Rave, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Chobits, Onegai Teacher, and the majority anime - Kanon. The Full On video used mostly Inu Yasha Footage. Kanon carries this update for Full On cause the characters are OH-SO-CUTE!

Theme: Fun-fun and no more gunshots! The "violence" action scenes have taken on a more "Warner Brothers" effect and unlike Full On, no anime characters were shot at during the making of this video! ^_^ Well, Mibu Kyoshiro got shot, but he has a "Warner Brothers" bullet-dodge technique with super-deformed mode. ^_^

Noted instance: Thanks to a certain anime (won't be named) I found a large amount of "dancing" footage. Yes, the mist-dancer. Guess her name and win a free review!

Fixes: Smoother motioned transitions. A new and very subtle "lensflare" transition. The extreme "maniac dizzy" motions have been increased for further imbalancement to your sense of direction. ^_^ The video itself feels "sped up" in my eyes. The "test export" I made while the video was missing around 20+ cuts was around 49Megs. My guess is this will be my heaviest video weighing in at a final 60+ megs. [ouch]

Final word: yes, this is a "return of Feel the Rhythm" in a sense, but it's the ONLY update I'm doing for a FtR video.

Next video projects: I've got two ideas. A "raw" comedy video that feels serious utilizing Inu Yasha and a song by Texas. Then there's that song I don't think anyone used called "Heaven" remixed by DJ Samma/Yanou featuring "Do". "Chobits are all That I Want, Love is All that They Need". Yes, long title, but Chii is just so cute... ^_^

I hope Chojin comes back soon. I miss his elite leeching skills to get me my digisubs for anime!

These days, EVERYONE should get unlicensed digisubs! The anime fansubbers these days are VERY GOOD at burning out some REAL HIGH QUALITY files! Best anime digisubs I've seen thus far (logoed) Vandread, Boys Be.
Best unlogoed Digisubs: Onegai Teacher, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Kanon, Vandread 2nd Stage, DVin[Luv] (still trying to digisub this myself since I have the whole series raw) Maid in Hanaukyo, Noir, Love Hina Again (NOT THE TV SERIES), Read or Die (probably the highest quality digisub series I have), FLCL, and Chobits. Rave looks alright, but the quality per ep goes up and down. :/

I'll notify everyone when I'm done updating Full On. Watch my journal or the Video Announcements Forum.
  • hah hah... 2002-08-06 10:36:05 ErMaC can't amv edit in Japan!

    muahahaha
    bwahaahah

    :P

    ^_^
  • Fillers aren't trouble, I'll "Revelation Break" them into little pieces! 2002-08-05 23:45:26 Ok, little setback, only it's not as bad as the "Tapestry Illusion" bug. (That's how it's spelled DD :P)

Instead of using the "shatter" as was intended, it would seem I'd be using something more subtle. A crack/slide of the screen if you will. The shatter I was hoping for turned out kind of odd and I don't think it'll work. Perhaps the effect can be called "Revelation Fracture"! Yes, it gets cheezier with each bug I run into!

    :(

The ending I'm still kind of "lost" on. The last ending I did for Full On was kind of confusing and off beat. "Guessing game". What the fuk was I thinking!?

Anyways, I've sent in my "mist-dancer" to someone I know that can be trusted. I'm not sure what to do with her. (and no you ecchi minded people, I'm not like what you think!) Or am I?!

    :/
  • Lyrics done, and Eva video looks a-good.... 2002-08-05 09:36:00 Yep Digital Dojo, looks mighty nice. The "freeze beat" effect you've used in Onyou no Yume is recognizable here. My suggestion is that you try to work up as many "custom" fx as you can. As far as I'm concerned, I don't really have a "Personal Fav Effect". My vids have certain "fx" themes that make them recognizable. If I DID have a Fav effect, it would be the Adobe After FX Triangular Shatter that is seen in most MADs. ^_^

All the lyriced parts are done in Full Throttle. The "test" video I exported was 49.9 Megs with mp3 compression and this is with 40% of the video UNFINISHED AND BLANK! The res was 320x240 so I was nothing short of shocked at how big the final product will be.

The mist dancer at the end I believe is much LESS distracting and confusing as the "guess that character at 4/30 seconds" effect. ;_; What the heck was I thinking. Oddly enough, the dancer herself is NOT dancing with the beat, but I needed "dance" to be expressed somehow in an explosive ending so I'm going to go lensflare crazy. You can hate me for it if you wish, but no dance vid is complete without some sort of magical eye candy. Look at Dancing Stars! Over 858 seizures and counting!
