  • 2003-07-06 07:51:00 Started on a new experimental video this morning. It was not planned to do it, but I decided to work it in mostly so that I could play around with syncing, effects, and etc. It will be worked on in-between our main current projects and will kind of be a "piddle with" project for when our main videos make us want to tear out our hair or if we get stuck somewhere along the way. Actually, I look forward to eventually making this experimental video public- as I'm having a lot of fun with it already :P Just you watch- it will probably escalate into a full blown headache project like all the others and start competing with our main videos for time and dedication. Geez..I don't know if I can handle that at the moment...
  • First Entry 2003-07-04 09:45:06 So will I get in the habit of keeping this updated for us? Who knows.

Firstly, I've gotten a total of 3 errors for my new video so far- 2 being from the same person as "server not found". It's just one of those things that you don't know how to fix for people. Because apparently for the 3 days the video has been up, 300+ people have been able to download it without problem.

Speaking of "Rose in the Wind", I changed out a scene in there that was really bugging me ( and a few viewers, too ). It's substitution isn't fantastic, but it's far better than what was originally there.

So many times we were going to scrap "Rose in the Wind"- but there were more good things going for the video than bad, so we kept trying to push it out. We had such oppurtunities with such a unique, mostly unknown song that seemed to completely describe Kagome, and everyone who has viewed the video ( and either emailed us or left opinions etc. ) have seemed to be completely able to identify this song with Kagome as much as we did- and that is something that is not worth letting go of. I think there are so many little things here and there that could greatly enhance a video that has something going for it- so I talked to Robert about the fact that I would like to sit down over the next few weeks and tweak a few things and do some rewriting. He said he was fine with it, but that he wasn't interested in tackling it again- especially since he has become so deeply involved in being the head writer on one of our future videos involving "Grave of the Fireflies", which he wants to completely devote his attention to. It seems also that Bo won't be working on the re-writes either, as she is far too busy with preparing for her move. It'll be okay- I assume- I can probably pull off everything I need myself- I just hope more folks will leave more opinions on the video itself, so I can really pinpoint what needs more work to fresh eyes.

Our next project, a very involved, dramatic one involving "Cowboy Bebop" got moved back a couple of months. C. Preston, the most Bebop-savvy of us all who is one of the writers wants to spend a little more time scouting footage and re-writing some verse/scenes. The song we are using is one very dear to me, and already to fit the Bebop vein we had to cut out a large chunk of verse and one chorus, simply because the verse had a deep, symbolic appearance to it that we just couldn't match to "Cowboy Bebop". The one chorus has to go because if it wasn't cut, we couldn't splice out the previous verse and manage to allow the one left in before it to flow smoothly into the first chorus. It was a tough decision as I didn't want to alter the song in any way, but we figured it wasn't worth risking the quality of the video by throwing in some random footage just to keep an extra verse in.

So with the "Cowboy Bebop" AMV project pushed back so suddenly, we moved up an AMV project we have been working on for 1 year and 2 months. It's an action video of the first "Rurouni Kenshin" OVA series and yes- we started it over a year ago. Back then Lit was still on-board as one of the writers, but now has tenatively been replaced by Robert in his "Grave of the Fireflies" off-time.

So more than likely, Premiere production will "officially" begin on it in about a week. In the meantime, I'm spending the weekend cutting in some new footage I already decided on for "Rose in the Wind". There are also some places I want to play around with some superimposed 2 layer imagery- but the parts where I was thinking of inserting it, I didn't want to take away from the feeling of being alone and solitary. So it'll be something to piddle with, nonetheless.
