Is It Football Season Yet?
2010-07-22 19:57:19
I'm dying from the lack of sports and the only thing to look forward to anytime soon is the X Games. This proves what I said before: Summer is the worst time for a sports fan.

Detroit, Don't Fail Me Now!!!!
2010-06-29 18:48:32
I am again bringing up us going to the Vans Warped Tour on July 30th but this time it's with..........slight nervousness. Our weather has been up and down over the past few weeks: Warm and humid weather, severe thunderstorms, and tornadoes/funnel clouds just to give an example. So with the weather like this my brother brought up the possibility that the concert may get rained out, have really high winds, or any other thing.
With that, I am now consulting the God, or Goddess, of Detroit weather for good weather during this concert. In return, I will stop spitting into the wind when people are behind me. Deal?

Lights Out
2010-06-20 17:11:46
No, this is not about knocking someone out nor a rant on one of several albums by various artists, this is about me.
9:30 PM Friday Detroit got a severe thunderstorm warning with winds up to 70 miles an hour and I was actually joking about how "I'm glad I don't have to go out there."
11:45 PM comes and I see my lights flickering.........this happens most of the times it's a big storm so I didn't worry about it. I started cutting off and unplugging anything I wasn't using at the time and went about my business.
11:58 PM.......My TV and external hard drive cut off. My cable box and computer still are working but I decide not to take any chances and cut off my computer to start getting ready for bed. I go to turn my porch light off when I realize that it's already off though the switch is on the "on" position. I cut it off and look outside to see the streetlights are still on so I take that as a good sign.
12:01:58 A.M Saturday. I know this exact time because it's when my clock that's plugged into the wall stopped working. All the street lights in my immediate vicinity go out and the first thing I notice is some houses still seem to have their power. I find out later that some power lines had fallen and my house was only one of 5 affected on my block.
5:30 PM- DTE comes out to check the lines while I was at the movies and when I see them I expected them to start calling in other trucks to get to work.......no. I found that the two people called to the site were laying in their truck half-asleep. I go home.
8:00 PM. I go to check to see if they're working and to my dismay they just have the area roped off and have left for the day. Another night of sleeping in my hot hoooooooooot hot hot house.
11:00 A.M. Sunday- The trucks start rolling in and start working on the three transformers affected.
4:47 PM- Power is restored. All is right with the world.
