  • Does NO ONE Have a Goal? 2010-08-07 11:15:50 I brought up my last journal entry to a few other editors and they had no answer either. Does anyone have a goal as an editor? 
  • Goal as an Editor? 2010-08-06 17:23:26 Often I see people asking "why do you edit?" and my answer is simple: Because it's fun. But recently while working on a vid I thought to myself "what is my goal as an editor?" and I had, and still have, no answer. What IS my goal as an editor? What do I hope to accomplish through this hobby?



    Notoriety? No. I don't really expect to be "known" or "intrawebz famous" nor do I care about it. I don't really care about subs on Youtube (we've had two people do sub vids for us and that's because they ASKED US IF THEY COULD DO IT, we never asked them) nor do I really care if I'm a......forum-hold name? Lol, w/e it's supposed to be. I enter vids in Cons for competition as I like to see where I am in comparison to other editors not to really win or become known.


    Career? No. I don't think I will ever get a job in editing nor do I think I would want one. Motion Graphics and rendering can help with the career I want but that's about it. I don't really wanna become an editor of t.v., movie, trailers, or any such thing.


    To be better than others? No. Earlier I said I like to enter cons for the competition and that's true but I don't do every vid with the mindset of "I wanna do this better than anyone ever has". I like ICing, LCing, beta battling and entering tournaments for the fun and........comradery I guess. I'll smack talk and say "I'm gonna win this" or w/e but I don't take it seriously as I don't care if I lose the match as long as I had fun with it.




    Maybe this is just a hobby that I'm not meant to have a goal at. I have no endgame when it comes to this and maybe that's why I enjoy it so much. Maybe a goal like being "well known" or "better than others" would just hinder my fun. Maybe I'm just thinking about this too much and should just shut the hell up and edit..........yea, I'll do that.

    Though I appreciate this (best quick comment I've ever gotten) I do believe you are crazy lol.
