JOURNAL: Otohiko

  • The year is 1974. 2004-08-05 02:08:30 A young man walked away from the microphone and picked up his guitar. He was convinced that the world around him was ending, but he just kept playing, about that world ending, note for note, a swan song for no tomorrow...

Apparently, the world didn't end, and the young man is now an old man, still playing music.

    The year is 2004.
A young man who has trouble picking up a guitar because of a lack of personal discipline sat down and started thinking about how, despite all odds, the world is not ending. So, he just poured himself a nice drink and relaxed while listening to the world's swan song of 1974. And thought about all the unlikely but variably exciting ways the world could end but probably wouldn't; and about all the ways he could live his life up until that grandiose but fictitious end, but probably won't.

Apparently, the world didn't end again. Less is said of the other young man.

I think too much, and never about the right things...
  • People I owe ops.. 2004-07-22 02:17:53 Hope you've noticed my sig noting the progress. Sorry I've been kinda slow in coming with these (but also, please realize I never promised ops fast). I've watched most of the videos, though the ops haven't taken off very well as yet due to real-life impediments. They'll be all done before summer's over, and people who gave me ops should probably get theirs, in first order, in the next week or so.

And now, yay, there's another impediment - I just finished compiling the audio track for my next AMV. Hard and fast, as said before? Quite likely, though perhaps not most of my regular viewer's idea of 'Otohiko-does-hard-and-fast-video'. What is it? That's something I shall keep confidential in case it collapses before takeoff again (which is unlikely, though tomorrow is the key day).

Got from today until monday morning - parents have left for work (which is an establishment well out of regular commute reach) - to do whatever I desire. Hopefully, that means I can put in some quality editing. Hmm, 4 days, 8-10 hours each - eh, I could pull off quite the job in that term. The next question is, do I want to? Again, the keyword here is, we'll wait and see.

I got a second monitor hooked up to the rig in hopes it (gasp) drastically enchances my editing workshop. So far, I've hardly even made use of the extra screen space. Pooey pooey. Looks like those extra 14" are going mostly to waste.

On other fronts, I've been completely blown away by the 'Monster' manga. Easily my favorite title. The anime shows great promise to be my favorite title as well, should it go as long as we're all hoping it to.

Anyways, my head needs sleep, and my body needs some excercise come morning. I could easily fall apart from having
  • Later folks. 2004-06-25 12:27:26 Registring for orientation and changing address info at my new university (Carleton, in Ottawa). Looks like that'll make for some good activities... I should probably start packing my crap, seeing how monday I'm basically gone.

Nothing on the video front, and there's been a setback in terms of HD space: my brother needed to dump a few gigs worth of stuff on my drive, effectively denying my working with anything besides movies (add that small stash of Monster to that, and you get the picture... my HD is slowly being eaten). Besides, my interests in WWII Eastern Front history have suddenly bounced back and my brain has once again started shifting away from AMV-Maker mode to History Buff mode - especially now that access to Ottawa's library circuit promises new literature and such...

Not to mention, I need more DVD's. And a job is now a requirement to get my hands on any of those... (counts money) Well, apparently I owe my parents $800 right now, which is small enough an amount to make up in a bit of work (as compared to ~$11,500 I owe the government already). The way I see it, larger city = more opportunities. Whether I'm just being naive/delusional about that we'll find out soon enough...

Anyway, videos may or may not appear spontaneously on my part for a bit. If I get very bored on weekends, when my parents are out of the picture entirely, I may do something. If I get a job and save up enough to get to CNAE this year, I may feel compelled to put together something of a contest entry. Other than that, no concrete plans for now - other than the fact that I want to do something hard and fast next time around.

So, anyway, my internet access expires in 3.5 hours. I won't be back on for a few days... maybe weeks. To folks who take any interest in this - cheers! Be back soon enough...
  • Monster 2004-06-24 14:33:42 Kai:

I gotta thank you since, oddly enough, your recommendation of Monster actually is partly to blame for me getting it and watching it. And impressed I was.

We can only hope it keeps going for as long as that...

In other irrelevant notes... stuff goes around. Reminiscing about former nightmares and not-so-nightmares. It was weird to realize that I'm actually visiting many places I've gotten very used during the last 6 years probably for the last time. After I move, I don't really see myself coming back to most of these places again. In fact, there's probably hardly a reason for me to even visit...

Oh well. On the other hand, change is good.
  • And I'm off... 2004-06-24 10:35:47 Well, today my internet access gets cut. I'm moving to Ottawa monday. When will it be back? Not sure. Sometime.

So, getting all my vids which I'm supposed to op sometime, downloading the newest ep. of Monster for me to watch while the offlinedness continues, and preparing to go places...
