Aha! Progress inevitable...
2005-06-09 03:05:10
Triumph! Victory!
The footage issue has been squelched over the course of the last 8 hours. As much time as it may have taken, this was quite interesting as compared to the plain old DVD ripping... This after I spent the previous 5 hours mixing together a neat instrumental soundtrack. Well, let's be fair, it was a soundtrack to begin with - but putting it together, it already sounds like a short movie. This is what I'm hoping it will be indeed.
I suppose it's editing day tomorrow. Editing day 1, more likely. Quite something coming on. 90% sure that I can pull it off now, and soon. It's also possible that my brother might do some effects for it as a post-script of sorts - though I'm skeptical if they'll at all be needed.
In any case - Audio mixing = 99%, Source gathering=100%, Video editing=0%.

The return of the Oto?
2005-06-08 19:29:49
Well, as it appears, as of today I'm working on a new major video project. If it comes out as I hope, perhaps it will be half-watchable, half-original.
Unfortunately though, it's unlikely to be hosted on the .org here, due to reasons of being mainly non-anime. Which is fine by me, so long as I find elsewhere to put it; but I will make an announcement as notable sections of the video and all of the music will be of anime origin and thus at least of interest to the .org's populace - well, I'm sure at least some of those who could stand my previous videos will be right at home with this one.
More detail soo... no, that's probably unlikely. Knowing me, it's either out in the next little while, or it's buried like many other failed attempts. Current state - Gathering footage 10%, audio mix 99%.

Disengage
2005-02-01 16:26:00
I'm presently looking for a way to to disengage myself from AMVing.
No, don't get me wrong, I'm neither disappointed nor overwhelmed by the scene; and I am very positive about the things going on here, not the least of which are the many great videos and editors that popped up lately.
Nor am I trying to make some sort of 'dramatic exit', or an exit at all for that matter. Perhaps more of a sabbatical. This may not, in the end, even be noticeable or extended to any significant length. And still fully intend to stay on the forum, and keep my commitments to ProjeKct Life and opinions.
But I do have other commitments, interests and plans to attend to. My social life is a ruin, and my health, as always, is rather frail. I have a manga translation project (fan-based, non-english) to run, and much-needed money to make. I won't even mention the dire need to maintain academic focus, which I've luckily been able to do thus far.
Most importantly though, I would like to go back to "Otohiko the cooperative audient". Something very interesting happened in the time between I became interested in AMV's and the time I started making them. I'd like to have it happen again, and to do that, I have to disengage and observe first.
***
But all that aside, it's not proving to be so easy. I have a draft for RPBP III that's refusing to leave my head, and right now a few minor technical and creative problems are keeping me from completing my segment for ProjeKct Life. VCA is also here, and as always, I find it a very exciting time for AMV's.
But this will happen. I am not sure when and for how long, but it will. In the long run, it should do some good things for whatever future AMV's I might make.

Oh wow...
2004-12-07 19:25:19
A lot of editing today. Got up, had tea, and sneaking to Premiere I go, where a track for the LTE project (ok, ProjeKct) was conviniently laying around since an unassuming start late last night.
Fast forward another 7.5 hours.
Looks like it's coming along. I'll need advice, and hopefully much work still remains.
Granted, I suppose this means a successful return to editing, and how!
If only that 4th Year Advanced Syntax essay wasn't getting in the way...
