sleep..... need sleep....
2001-11-13 09:32:18
Oh man, I'm sooo tired. I feel like the psychopath in the beginning of EK's "Failed Experiments..." vid - "Have - idea... Must - work." I did a bit of work on my Basara vid over the weekend, and then the amv hit me in its entirety. I feel like there's a crack monkey on my back, whispering, "You must edit. You need to edit. Premiere is calling you." Yeah, I definitely need more sleep. :) I ended up staying awake til 2 in the morning working on it. And I've got a whole 30 seconds done! Wow. Well, I'll certainly be helping the coffee market quite a bit today. Maybe when I get home tonight I'll stay away from the computer and bake that apple pie I've been meaning to make. And then hopefully I'll go to bed and just sleep and sleep and sleep. I wonder how likely the chances are of that happening... ;) I swear, amv creating is a siren's song.

grrr... i hate leechers.

so i get this email from this guy telling me one of my links is done. i reply, saying it works fine for me, and give him the direct link just in case. then he emails me back, "yelling" at me, saying that his viewer pops up on his side, and i need to fix this RIGHT NOW and that i'm completely wrong. duh. that has nothing to do with me - for some people left-click downloads the file, for some people it opens the viewer. i have no clue why. at any rate, i replied saying "use right-click and 'save target as...'". i was rather polite. perhaps i should have been ruder. >:) dumbass - learn how to use a computer before yelling at me. grrr!

i'll think of an interesting title later.

Heh, Atari was fun. :) But like Seijin, I don't really remember much of it. I do remember all the ported arcade games - Centipede and whatnot. My grandparents owned a bar and cabin resort (don't be fooled by the word "resort" - it was cabins on a lake in northern Wisconsin they would rent out by the day or week or whatever. It was still nice though. It was all on top of this big huge hill with the lake at the bottom - the BEST place I've been to thus far for sledding. I had some pretty fun winters/summers there. :) Anyway, I digress...) with quite a few of those arcade games in them. They also had Ms Pac-Man and this ooooold bowling game where you had this puck you would knock plastic pins down with - well, flip them up really. It's hard to explain. My grandparents would give us quarters from the cash register to play those games, as well as pool, foosball, and air hockey. They'd also make us "kiddie cocktails" of Sprite and grenadine - that used to be my all-time favorite drink. :) (hehe, now I add some vodka...) It's really a pity they sold it. I can understand why, since they're getting old and it's a lot of upkeep, but it was a treasure trove for a kid. :)
Whee, I got a little nostalgic there, didn't I? It almost makes me sound like I was an active kid, but nope. I was a nerdy bookworm. :D How many of us here aren't?
Oh, and knghtbrd, the clowns WERE scary! I was absolutely terrified of clowns until I was about ten. Even now I still get creeped out by them. My brother loves the movie Killer Klowns, and I know it's hokey and all, but it still scares the crap out of me. I'm a whuss, I know. :p
alternatefutures - we'll both have interesting OS vids, huh? Yours will have alterna-footage, and mine just may become the most corny video ever made (but in a fun way). Should be amusing to see. :)
Oh! And I need help on my wallpaper site. What do you guys think of when you think of fall? My index page is covered with red, yellow, and orange leaves, so that's done. What else should I use? Harvested fields? Thanksgiving type stuff? Tornadoes? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :) I can always find a pic of an anime character to splice into whatever scenarios sound good, so let me know! I'll hopefully catch it in people's journals, but it might also be a good idea to email me.
One last thing - I'm scrapping my current amv idea, but I found a song/concept that is actually complete in my head and will work much better than the one I'm scrapping AND it uses the same source footage. Woohoo! It should also be fun, since this idea I now have will push my meager editing skills quite a bit. Now to find time to do the video...
PS Yay! I was missed during the week I was gone. :) Makes me feel all warm and loved. :)
(can you tell pyro is in a really really good mood today? naaah, it's not obvious at all!)

all you apple users....
2001-11-09 14:29:34
So I was going through some journal entries that I had missed, and I noticed people were talking about the Apple IIe. Forget that! I learned how to read off an Atari. I'm not kidding. We had this program called "Alphabet Soup" which my parents taught me off. (<--Waha! I love ending sentences in prepositions. ;) ) All I remember about it though is how terrified I was of the clowns in the title screen.
Hey, iserlohn, wie viel Jahre hast du Deutsch studieren? Ich habe Deutsch fuer 3 Jahre studiert, aber ich habe nicht fuer einem Jahr zum Deutschestunde gegangen. Geh, I probably butchered that horribly. It's been a while since I've taken Deutsch. :)
I can't explain why, but something interesting has happened to me - I've started writing poetry. Most of it's just in my head, but nonetheless I'm actually coming up with poems. The last time I did this regularly was my freshman year of high school, and most of those were sad/depressing (most of them were about being alone, since I had just moved and was missing my friends). But these poems are different. I even wrote down a fairly long love poem. I *never* write love poems. It's very strange. A lot of things have happened in the past year to mature me a great deal, and sometimes I get scared by it. When something like this happens, I don't quite feel like myself. Well, I can't really say that "growing up" is a bad thing, esp. since I've always been mature for my age, but it's still disconcerting.
On a lighter note, I started a new layout for my wallpaper site. It's very fall-y. :) Lots of leaves and whatnot. No new wallpapers, though. I need to make one... Well, for all you bishounen lovers, check out the new layout in about a week or so at http://eridanus.home.dhs.org/wallpaper.
My my, what an exciting journal entry this is! Filled with intrigue, seduction, and danger! Just another day in the high-profile life of Pyro. ;)

back from the east coast
2001-11-08 13:24:08
Well, my flight from Boston got in last night, so I'm back at work in Chicago. Massachusetts is very pretty this time of year - nearly all the trees are gorgeous colors, and the East Coast has *gasp!* hills and mountainscapes. I was all over Massachusetts visiting friends; I spent Tuesday playing a tourist in Boston itself buying kitschy Christmas presents for my family. It was a very low-key, relaxing vacation, and I feel a lot more at ease that I have in a while. I am glad to be back home though - I'm too much of a city girl to be content in quaint New England towns for long. ;)
Hmm, I wonder if e511 ever reads this journal. Maybe since I mentioned her she'll email me about it. We'll see. ;) She's my best friend, despite the fact that I live in Illinois and she lives in Massachusetts. We don't talk as much as when we went to school together/roomed together, but when I was staying with her from Saturday-Tuesday, I didn't feel the time spent apart. I'm glad that we have such a strong friendship to withstand distance, time, and my own idiocy. Oddly enough, most of my friends live in Minnesota or Massachusetts. I'm making friends in Chicago slowly, but it's hard since I'm not a social butterfly and the company I work for is very small - ie my boss and myself.
Relaxing vacation has given me ideas for new layouts for my wallpaper website, which is still in its spring edition. Finally I'll get that up-to-date. :) I also think I'm scrapping my current amv project. It'd be great if I could make it work, but I think it's such a tricky idea that at my level of skill it would turn into a very cynical video. I do have an idea using the same source to a different song, though. We'll see if it works out. I better start working on my Outlaw Star vid soon, though, otherwise alternatefutures will definitely kick my butt at AnimeCentral 2002. :)
So since I've been in communicado, anything interesting happen while I was gone? <grin>
