woohoo!

I've got 20 seconds of my video done. Wow. Now I've got another 3 minutes to go... I really wish I had a storyboard. It would make my life so much easier. :) But the very nature of the song makes a storyboard damn difficult to do (esp. since I get very specific in my storyboards). Actually, to be honest I don't have a clue where this video is going. I think it's really making itself and taking me along for the ride. Damn muses. :) Never clear about exactly *what* they're inspiring you with.
Oh, and alternatefutures, if you have a similar song/concept for your Outlaw Star video to my planned one, I will be MASSIVELY surprised. I've never even heard this song on the radio, and it's not one a lot of people would think of. The video will be a ton of fun though. Lots of spinny-spinny motion stuff. :D
More anthrax cases... peachy. All I have to say it that 1) so far it doesn't look like the morons doing this have the capabilities for a widescale biological attack, which is a good thing, and 2) that they don't seem to have any of the *really* nasty stuff - I'm talking about the biological weapons that are anthrax, ebola, and other harsh diseases all rolled into one. Hopefully they'll never acquire such capabilities.
(I have two younger brothers, who are both obsessed with the military and warfare. They can rattle off this kind of info all day long.)
On a lighter note, yesterday a HazMat (Hazardous Materials) team was called into Logan Square (a Chicago neighborhood) because of a supicious "sticky, green substance."
It turned out to be guacamole.

does it ever end?

You know, at this point I would severely welcome amv creator's block.
I started a new vid over the weekend. It'll probably be weird, just because of how the song fits the anime. But hopefully it'll be a good weird and not a bad weird. :)
And then when that gets finished I can finally get to my Legend of Basara vid, the storyboard for which has been done since April (couldn't get decent source footage til now). And *then* when I finally get a chance to rewatch all of Outlaw Star I can work on that vid.
Erg. It's a good thing I'm in a lull between book series right now, or I would have no free time at all. On the other hand, it's nice never being bored. It gets exhausting though.
I also wonder how many other people out there rewatch an entire series before making a video. I insist on doing this so I'll know where clips are and which to use and whatnot. On the Let's Rock! vid site, she said she fast-forwards through episodes. Hmm, maybe I should try that. Otherwise, heaven help me if I ever insist on making a Sailormoon video. x.x

was just reading knghtbrd's journal entry...

and I have to agree with him about video games. I was all excited about Diablo II, but guess what... yeah, the backgrounds are pretty and there's more exploration, but it's still a hack-and-slash festival. I'd like something a little more challenging. I picked up Icewind Dale a while ago, and I haven't played much of it, but I like what I've played so far. I keep getting my ass kicked. :) I love it when a game does that. It means I actually have to *think*.
Oh, and knghtbrd - I like the more realistic look of characters these days. Of course, I love pixelated sprites too. It's the in-between cartoony characters that make me cringe. Have you *seen* the new Zelda game for Gamecube? *shudders* Link looks HORRIBLE!!! It looks like someone made a Claymation Link and then stepped on him. Yuck. Good thing I don't plan on buying a Gamecube. :)
I'm starting work on my next video, which will be to Legend of Basara. This is a great shoujo show that kicks Fushigi Yuugi's whiny-Miaka-ass. The art isn't as pretty, though, and the show only runs 13 episodes, so it's not very well known. It'll be a tribute video, but I plan to make it sort of like an "introduction" video as well, to get people interested in the series. The only bad part is that the song has already been used. :( Oh, well, I'll live. If I could find a good replacement song, I'd use it, but no luck there.
Err, why am I still writing? I seriously doubt anyone really cares. :) Ah well. I'll go away now. ;)

"anime is the devil!"
2001-10-10 13:21:05
sigh.. my mother is driving me nuts. she thinks anime is this huge evil thing rotting her daughter's brain. and that's just the start of things pissing me off right now. i once swore i'd never do this, but it's getting to the point where i'm thinking about cutting off contact from her - at least for a while. and the sad thing is that we used to be really close.
why is that just because something is from another culture, it's automatically the first thing to blame for any problems i'm having? geez. just because someone is technically an adult doesn't mean they've grown up.

busy doing the day, ne?
2001-10-09 13:34:36
lol - it seems we all get a lot of work done during the day, huh? 8-5-ish seem to be the peak hours for amv.org activity. ;)
and i don't really know her, and she doesn't know me, but happy birthday ek! we're all part of a big online "family" almost, so I can wish her well. :)
I'm chowing down on cheap Chinese food for lunch. Erg. Boss is coming. Back to work! <makes sour face>
