Singing Crack Rabbit
2002-03-23 16:57:33
Yes, officially called Vib Ribbon, but better known as Singing Crack Rabbit. This Playstation game looks as basic as can be but it is sooo much fun and absolutely insane. It's a good thing I know enough Japanese to get through the menus, it took us a while to get the game started though because it is all katakana so we didn't know which parts were japanese and which parts were english sometimes. That plus boot disc complications (we have a legit import copy but an unmod'd playstation and we were testing out the boot disc for the first time - worked like a charm, except it took us a while to realize we gotta take out the spring to get the game to read a swap of disc).
We busted out electronica like trance and hardcore techno and drum'n'bass and some other stuff. My friend Mel always picks the harder tracks, her taste in music will get you ass-raped in this game!!! What was odd was the faster hardcore tracks were really easy while the slower ones were viscious.
What the hell is this game I'm talking about? Think of it as a music visualization program where the visualization is translated into a playable obstacle level.
The graphics consists mostly of two colours - black and white. There's some yellow green blue and purple in there, but otherwise it's just black and white. The game is very 2-D looking as well, but still has a 3-D structure to it (it's wireframe-ish). The game disc itself isn't actually in the playstation most of the time, your music CDs are (it's like the entire game is stored in the PSX's RAM, the game disc is only needed to first enter the game). Yeah, this game has replay value like nothing else and makes a great party game. You pick the music, and as long as you got music you haven't used on the game yet, you've got new levels. This is insanity! Whoever created this, kudos! XD. Too bad those idiots at sony didn't port the game over in english.

True Love Never Dies
2002-03-20 13:17:54
Last time I mentioned it in my journal, it was confirmation that it had been shipped. Now it is in my hands XD XD XD. I LOVE THIS TRACK! It is still my favorite vocal trance track to date. ANYbody into Trance and the club scene (as the remixes are pretty sweet) should check it out.

Rockman X... manga
2002-03-16 22:15:37
It took 13 MONTHS for them to arrive by special order, but they came! Rockman X4 vol.1, Rockman Remix, and I'm still awaiting Rockman X4 vol.2 (it's only 2 vols) which I believe is in a separate package and got separated on route and should be arriving next week. Too bad the place I was using to get these is closing down, leaving me fubarred for attempting to grab the rest of the series... for now. But right now, I'm extatic ^_______^

Boys Be... the end is awesome
2002-03-15 23:58:55
I found Boys Be to be a cute series for most of the time. I didn't see any one focal character in the series, which was interesting, and each episode at first seemed kinda self-contained like Miyu TV. But the last 2 eps were gorgeous. Especially the last ep. I love the theme music of the last ep, they changed the OP for it, and blows away the orignal OP, I must find this track! >=D. I was completely taken in by the characters of the last ep (13). Kyo is someone I can relate to sooooo well, his character is pulled off perfectly! Chiharu (the blonde one) is a great C that I really loved the design of, she was a great C, the only problem was that Megumi Hayashibara was her Seiyuu. It has nothing to do with her skill/talent, she did a great job, as usual, but it is blatantly obvious that it is her, which sorta killed the ep's ability to take me into its world - hearing Megumi's voice is like a reminder of "you're watching an anime" -.-'''. But the last ep puts the series into a perspective that is more whole instead of episodic. A very moving/touching ending, this series creeps onto my top list by the last 2 eps alone. Highly recommended for anyone into something like KOR or To Heart.
I've been lucky enough to get to see Read or Die ep.3 as well. Great ep, some of the animation quality was absolutely gorgeous, some of the detail: sick! The wait for this one was worth it. This one fight scene with The Paper and that first Ijin who blew up the white house was quite a show too. A lot of turns and twists for a single ep too. Read or Die's flaw is it is too short =P.
In other news, I've finally snagged the True Love Never Dies CD. Yay! =D
