  • I got the Terrain Editor to work 2009-03-01 08:17:57 But I can't find the map :/ Tomorrow, I start on Tiberium Sun, Or, when I wake up, at least.

Late;y I have been trying to get AMV ideas when I listen to music, which means I should probably start editing again. Maybe after a couple Tiberium Sun missions. Also, I haven't noticed how awesome the soundtrack for the original C&C and Red Alert is until recently. Especially Hell March. The soundtrack for RA2 isn't as memorable, except for maybe the remix of Hell March, but it isn't as good. Hmm... Nah... Or maybe... Nah.

The fixed version. Or beta1.1. Haven't tried it out yet. The ore/gems might be imbalanced, but who's complaining? Haven't gotten to fix the AI, if's that's possible. What it basically is a (perfect, w00t) valley going from the upper right to lower left and a road connecting the two sides. There's a fork in the middle of the road where there are Civilian buildings, though the buildings may not be happy to see you. Also where the roads meet is the ramps to go into the left side of the valley where there's tech buildings. The right side of the valley is basically a flat ore battleground (with those ore generator things). Yeah, yeah ya can access the tech buildings easily with Allied Helicopters and the Chronosphere and dodge the angry Civilian Buildings, but where's the fun in that? Besides, this isn't exactly what I had in mind with the original RA Terrain Editor. What I originally had planned was to have the players restrict the battlefield to something the size of a road leaving only enough room for a base and some resources, which would most likely end up being a race to superweapons, if they're enabled, that is. I decided not to add a third player, considering I would have to overhaul quite a bit of the map, and I didn't want to delete all the ore generators in the right side of the valley, although I was considering making the right side of the valley into an ocean/lake, but I'd still have to delete all the ore generators :/

tl;dr I took two days to make a mediocre map, and it's not fully complete yet :/

Also, there seems to be a beta of the new version of Soldat. Haven't checked it out yet, so I guess that's what the weekend is for. w00t.
  • I should be sleeping 2009-02-26 05:54:07 But I just just got done testing the map. It's aright. Gotta fix a few things, namely Civilizing the JP buildings I forgotten, find out how to make the destructible cliffs destructible, or make them slopes, and somehow make the AI smarter. I'll admit it's nothing near what I imagined, but it'll do. It's only a 2 player map, but I' think I'll add one more player, maybe two. It's bigger than I imagined and there's quite a bit of wasted space. Bah, I need sleep.
  • FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU 2009-02-25 02:10:19 So, I'm making a map for YR, because the Terrain Editor that comes with RA doesn't work because I need to insert a RA disc, but I don't have a RA disc I have the First Decade Disc >:[ I had an awesome map idea for the original RA, but it doesn't really transition well with RA2 YR, considering with the original it's not necessary have to be diagonal, but it can also be up and down, when it comes to cliffs, rivers, and etc. etc. I googled solutions to the problem, but the only solution I could find doesn't work, or I'm doing something wrong.

At any rate, the map I made for YR, which took about the whole day, doesn't look right. I wouldn't have this cliff problem in the original RA Terrain Editor >:[
  • So... 2009-02-24 00:22:03 I was playing a Skirmish on RA, with Aftermath and Counterstrike (when I shoulda been sleeping), and Holy shit they nerfed (I think it's the correct term :/) quite a bit of stuff in RA2. Well, the Tesla Coils were one, and the Mammoth Tanks (AKA Apocalypse tanks). Too bad Tanya stayed on the Allied side. Soviet Tanya would probably sound sexier. Too bad the Allied kept the airplanes, although the Soviet had the Helicopters in the Expansion pack. They were kinda annoying just hovering in the air. Although the units were bigger in RA, it seemed like the map was smaller. Ah, to play the original RA again. It does seem better than RA2, and from what I hear is better than RA3. I think Imma Skirmish a few more times for old times sake, and maybe start on the original RA missions. The Soviet campaign, at least. Maybe afterwards I can start on Tiberium Sun. If I Don't get any new games by then, then maybe I'll edit. Maybe
