So VCAs semi-finals are here...

...and I must say, thank you! I realized I got quite a bunch of votes after all, if I was able to reach semi-finals in 6 categories. o.O
So well, I checked a bit and I found <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/163713">Cookies</a> in:
- Best Dance
- Best Fun
- Best Romance
I must say that this made me happy as it means that there was a good bunch of people that enjoyed my vid enough to vote for it. Finding it in best romance too was kind of weird, I didn't expect that since it's not "conventional" romance, since it's shoujo-ai and all, but I was still happy about it.
Also, I found myself voted on for most helpful and most improved. While I can understand where the most improved might come from (honestly I jumped from barely decent videos to... ok-good ones I guess), the most helpful was pretty much unexpected. There were a good amount of people that helped out (on the forum and otherwise) more than I did, but still thanks.
What was the most unexpected, though, was actually finding <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/163535">Shoop Da Koop!</a> on the Best MEP list. Seriously, wtf? I guess this is a first for a birthday mep. XD
Now putting the various thanks aside, there were a couple things that threw me off, namely the most original and most artistic categories.
In most artistic there are some videos which aren't that much artistic, while other videos which I was really expecting to find there (to name one, Aceman's <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/154245">Seimei no Sakazuki (生命ノ杯)</a>) weren't.
In most original... well... Nostromo's vids are good, really, I like them a lot myself, and I can see Auriga or Running Man winning video of the year, but original... come on, there were more original videos (DriftRoot's <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/163041">Takeout</a> would be a good example, imho) that didn't get in. At least piiiiii's <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/156300">End</a> did, and I'd really suggest to those that haven't watched it yet to check it out, 'cause it seriously is most original of the year. And it deserves a mention for most artistic too, though I do think that Megamom's vids deserve the title too... I guess the final choice could be harder there.
Well then, now you can only vote for up to 5 vids/people for category. Pick your choices wisely, and think twice about what the category is about and don't just vote the vids you liked the most/the editors you prefer. Heck, you should be voting for vids you hate if they objectively deserve the title (for example, while I didn't like <a href="http://a-m-v.org/video/164771">Midnight Carnival</a> all that much, I do think it deserves at least the final for best effects, so I'm voting it anyway). - @Nya 2009-02-20 08:00:15 1680x1050 is 16:10 and a rather common monitor size, especially for 22". Other 16:10 resolutions you might be familiar with would be 1280x800 and 1920x1200, I'm pretty sure you saw a lot of wallpapers with these resolutions.
