G is for GAmes [Top 5 of the Year!]
2011-12-22 14:49:41
Runners Up:
Saint's Row 3
Portal 2
#5 Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection
Gorgeous graphics, fixed bugs, less annoying battles and just the best incarnation of Final Fantasy IV (one of the best final fantasies ever) to date. But let's not reincarnate anymore. I can't afford it. >_> Unless you make a sequel to after years. That, I would buy.
#4 Dragon Age 2
Ridiculously under-appreciated gem of the year that nobody cares about since November. Fantastic combat, a return of bioware's excellent writing staff, and possibly one of my favorite games of all time.
#3 Skyrim
Just go read all the other beautiful reviews and read up on why I love it. I can't put it any differently. It's just a fantastic game with great re-playability and an immersed world!
#2 Pokemon Black/White
You cannot beat this game when it comes to the franchise. It returns to the original roots of the game and does it fantastically. A new plot, a fresh ending and relatable gym leaders with actual personalities that I loved. Plus, I nice sidplot and I loved all the new additions. The second most played game of the year.
#1 Minecraft
Hey! It officially released, so it counts!
Anyway, it's sapped most of my gaming time for the past year, so it highly deserves the award, but I think it's more like how I play it. I play it "iron man" style, where if I die, I delete my world and start a brand new one. My longest game was about 152 days, but usually I don't make it past 30. This way, the game is constantly fresh, with new terrain and new houses/stuff to build. Mod packs help too. Mod packs help a LOT. Although I hate giving this the #1 spot, because Mojang are total assholes. >_>

B is for Beta and E is for Editing
2011-12-21 09:35:37
Wow. The inspiration bug hath bitten hard this holiday season for AMVs.
If you're interested in beta testing "A Very Cascadathon Christmas" or perhaps my latest cute-vomit-inducing romance amv with Hiyoki "Flutter", shoot me a pm. You get the former by the end of today or early tomorrow, and the latter extremely soon as well.
____________
Speaking of which, 2011 was the year I decided to try and edit every genre I could think of. I got most of them. Action, romance, drama, character profiling, "WTF", and fun. I didn't get to dance/fanservice, but I've got both of those tied up when Rosario+Vampire is in my hands again.
Anyway, after trying all the different styles, I came to several conclusions while editing them.
KA-Ching: Honestly, it's one of my favorite videos that I've ever edited. I did a 2-part conceptual push, and I think I hit both of them pretty hard. But more importantly, it was a small venture into internal sync, which I think I did pretty well. Naturally, I can admit the obvious flaws (lack of beat sync or a definable genre).
Selfless Regret: Of all the genres I tried, drama/character profiling turned out to be the most fun for me. Well, in a "clinically depressing" sort of way. I think I hit this one square on the head, and hearing the comments "I'm watching madoka now because of this" made me giddy. Plus, the girl was my favorite character, and it was nice to idenfity with an anime character that I could put into AMV form. Plus, it gave me an idea for two other AMVs. Charitable Regret (Kyoko Tribute) and Lifeless Regret (Mami Tribute), both of which will begin editing in 2012 when the Madoka Blu-Rays are back in my hands. (I've seroiusly got to stop letting my friend borrow my stuff in large quantities).
Just Another Citizen: Mmmmmmm.... Fun was fun to edit with. Didn't have to care as much about getting a story/concept across and just EDITED. That being said, as much as I enjoyed the final product, the inner critique in me knows that it was missing something and could have been pushed harder for a more quality piece. BUT the editor in me wanted to stop working on it and move on, because it was starting to piss me off seriously, and I think it's BECUASE I threw the concept/story out of the park.
But all in all, I like doing romance best.
So 2012 will be the year of romance/drama/characters for CodeZTM. I tried new stuff this year, but want to go back to my roots.

V is for Video

I made new video!

I wanted to thank everyone for their praise, critiques and feedback throughout this entire year. It really means a lot to me to try and grow as an editor. I'm just now feeling more and more confident in my work, so I hope to keep that going strong.
Hopefully 2012 will be a better year of editing for me. XD

I didn't leave the QC that you're talking about, but this is something that is a frequent topic of discussion:
1. I WATERMARK MY VIDEOS NOT because i own the anime and.or music, but because I spent countless hours editing the clips.
-Watermarks do not stop AMV theft. It's an extremely simple script to crop out watermarks, and it takes less than 5 minutes. If I were so inclined (I'm not, relax), I could take your AMV and upload it to my page without your watermark in about an hour.
Besides, it's unprofessional and just looks bad. Any major amv contest forbids it anyway, and for good reason. It just doesn't look good. :(

2. . I DO own the animes on dvd that i make videos about. Bought every single one. Except digimon but see number 3
3. you find me dvds of digimon that aren't bootlegged that arent 1000 dollars per set then well talk
If you're going to download anime, at least download good quality anime that doesn't have a jetix logo, blockyness and tons of visuals distractions on it. I'm not going to condemn you for downloading anime (everyone here has done it at some point in their career), but spend time finding good quality footage that is actually usable.
I understand the frustration with high priced footage, but it's really something that you should consider doing at some point. Buy the series in small chunks with the individual dvds or something. I want to buy the whole hitman reborn set, but it would cost me nearly a grand to do that in one sitting. So I'm buying each arc/season one at a time until I have all the episodes.

I originally brought up point 1 because it's something that I find my purpose in life is to stop the useless watermarking of videos.
But I hope you have fun amving regardless.
