  • W is for Weather 2009-05-02 00:25:57 If you ever want to know something about the state of Arkansas? Our weather sucks. >_>

More tornadoes coming through tonight, and I can assure you massive wind and hail related damages. AGAIN. >_> For the third time this year.

    Blarg. Never move here.

*goes to look up other states and their weather patterns*
  • P is for Parents 2009-05-01 13:04:42 Blarg. For all the leaps and bounds that I've made with my parents over my first year of college, they still don't "get" me. They don't understand why I enjoy anime, why I like music outside the mainstream media, or why I want to be a teacher and education major. But most annoying of all, they don't understand why I treat everyone equally. Blah. They're just racist/sexist/homophobic bastards

Sometimes I just seriously wonder if I just wasn't adopted at birth. But then I look at my biological father and just think "there it is...". It's very odd. I've become a lot closer with my father this last year, and I've realized that I'm pretty much him in a nutshell. Well, almost in a nutshell. I didn't knock a girl up in high school and not talk to my kid for nearly 16 years except at Christmas and Birthdays. >_> But you know, I don't even hold that against him anymore. My mother's the one that drove him away from us, so I really can't blame him.

Blarg. Enough about parents though. I hate sounding like a little kid whining about not having enough freedom and what not. That's not how it works. I'm 19, I have no restrictions on how I live my life with the exception of having to go to college (which I'd do anyway).

    I can't complain a bit about my life. >_<

    ___________________________________

What I CAN, complain about however, is the fact that I don't have a bedroom anymore and that I'm sleeping on a fucking couch.

My air conditioning went out last summer, and I was promised that it would be fixed this winter once more funds came in to the household. Well, winter came and went, and no repair job was done. >:( So now my upstairs room is uninhabitable, getting to nearly 90-100 degrees during the day.

Now that wouldn't piss me off so much. I understand we're under pretty reasonable constraints. We have a lot of bills and stuff to spend money on. However, they're getting a God damn new hardwood flooring all over our house, which cost nearly double what a new air conditioning would cost. Now they're out of money and I'm not getting one.

It's ridiculous! They and my little sister both get nice comfortable beds, their bathrooms, their closets and all other junk.

Me? I get a lumpy couch that is killing my back, a dog that sleeps on my neck and wakes me up with sloppy kisses, no privacy, no bathroom and worst of all I don't have my desk, where I'm used to doing all of my computer-based work.

    It's just irritating. T_T

Damn it, I hate it when I complain during an entire journal entry.

So let me end off with something positive I suppose....

    Uh...

    Uh...

    ...

    ..

    .

Damn it, I don't have anything positive to end on today. T_T

Maybe tomorrow and maybe when I'm not in a horribly pissy mood.
  • S is for Sigh 2009-04-30 10:17:10 *Sigh*

Seriously? I've been out of college for a week now, and I'm still waking up at 8 in the morning Ugh... I gave up trying to sleep in, grabbed my coffee and decided to surf the interwebz.

Anyway, today I plan on talking about a varying amount of topics. Please bear with me, I've been nearly 4+ months without a journal to type into (word processors never last with me and book diaries can't hold my interest long enough).

    The Economy

    Well... It still sucks. >_>

My job at the newspaper isn't in jeopardy, I've been assured, but we've scaled back a ridiculous amount. We used to have another office in a nearby town, but we've had to shut it down and fire 3 people.

I am slightly lucky because I'm the only one on staff that knows how to work technical support or run the website, so until the place shuts down, I'm pretty safe.

    Webcomics

Eeeeeek! I've become obsessed with webcomics! I've found several really good ones that' I'm going to reccomend (with a rating for you little kiddies here! :D)

Least I Could Do (www.leasticoulddo.com): Awesome webcomic updated 7 days a week. The most *professional* webcomic that I've ever seen! The content is risque and scitsophrenic at times (going back and forth from plots at the tip of a hat), but the backstory and characters are likable enough that I keep coming back every day to see the new strip. :D Rating: A-

Questionable Content (http://questionablecontent.net/): My personal and favorite webcomic on the internet at the moment. Updated Monday-Friday, it has some extremely wonderful and loveable characters! The plot is pretty cliche and slightly awkward at times, but the humor in it is simply amazing. :D

Wasted Talent (http://www.wastedtalent.ca/): The comics of a mech engineering major at a well known college. Funny as shit if you're in college and even funnier if you know somebody who is a mech engineer. :D The art isn't as well developed as the above two, but still cute with its own quirky charm.

    AMV?

Yeah. I've been working on again off again on an AMV project for the last two months. The amount of footage I'm using is staggering, so it's hard to sit down and finish it. I'll pretty much just grab a DVD of footage I want to do, spend a day ripping and scripting the footage, and then a week later use the footage and put it on the timeline. :D

Meh... I'm about 75% done. I just need to add the last bit of footage, put in some effects and start the beta testing. O_o

Ima going to go watch Wheel of Fortune on my DVR.

/esh sleepy from finishing massive finals last week.
  • C is for College 2009-04-29 13:34:24 I think I mentioned in my last entry that I've officially finished my first year of college. I'd like to mention a few things that I've learned in my first year.

*Instead of whining about having to write a 2 page paper double spaced, I'm now whining about only having 4 pages to write single spaced papers (because's there's so much crapping information I have to put in these things!).

*Instead of whining about getting to stay up late past curfew, I'm now whining about not getting to sleep before 2 AM.

*Instead of whining about having too much homework, I'm whining about not having ENOUGH homework (homework=points=better chance to increase grades).

*Instead of whining about not having enough choices in classes back in high school, I'm now whining because there's too many classes offered.

    ____________________________

Anyways, those are just some observations. Also, if you remember wayyy back last year, my school had a shooting at UCA. As such, my paranoid parents (who provide lovely fundage for my education) made me transfer to a local university ten mintues away from my house known as Arkansas Tech University. And I must say.... I like it about a BILLION times better than UCA. The teachers are nicer, the classes are smaller (25-50 as opposed to 120+), the library is BAGORGEOUS, and we have internet like eVERYWHERE! So I'm loving it here. :D

Blah. This last semester was not pretty. 4 B's and one A. My public speaking and American Goverment professors were real bastards about grades and refuse to give any student an A because they feel that it's "unethical". I took Chemistry for a gen ed requirment, and that shit is hard. >_> Linguistics is a requirement for my major, and I LUBBED it and my professor for it, and I managed an A. Geography was the other class, and it was pure evil because it was basically just three exams and a group project. Pure. Hell. >_>

Next semester's looking good though! I'm taking Bowling (PE requirement), Intro to Secondary Education (Major requirement), Spanish I (major requirement), Biology Intro (gen ed requirement), Economics (it was either that or World Civ for gen ed requirement), and Advanced Compositional Theory (major requirement).

I actually have some classes with a few friends that I knew in high school that go to Tech, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again! Plus, I can focus more this semester on classes that DIRECTLY affect my career, as opposed to last semester when only one of them really matter (linguistics).

Also, some people have asked about it and Round Two of Project editor was lost in a hard drive crash that my laptop went through in December. I tried to recover it (and priceless family photos/tons of songs/videos), but to no avail. I had to get the warranty to completely replace the machine. Sorry. :(
