JOURNAL: CodeZTM (Zackary )

  • S is for Sleep / T is for Time 2009-09-30 16:09:25 I find myself not getting enough of it as of late. Between late night sessions of editing, homework, my columns and website duties at work, coordinating the no excuses mep every now and then, and coordinating Project Editor I just have zero time left on my hands for either liesurely activites or sleep.

I was up till 3 AM last night, knowing full well that I had an 8 AM calculus class to attend.

But I couldn't just go to sleep, no, that'd be too easy.

Because I had homework overflow from Monday [Calculus, Economics and Biology], and couldn't do it money night because I had work until 9 PM, and when I got home, I had Tuesday homework to get done [Business Systems].

But here I am Wednesday afternoon, about to fall asleep at my desk in the school library, typing this up when I could be getting a head start on Calculus homework.

But I'm not. Do you know why? Because I have realized that by living at the pace of life I have been living these past few weeks, and going through everything that I've gone through [the death of George, the funeral, my sister getting Swine Flu], has left me stressed out, exhausted and with little time to myself.

The loss of sleep and the loss of my time has left me winded and exhausted. Midterms are coming up too, so I know for a fact that this isn't going to let up until at Least the week of Halloween.

But I have a unique solution. I'm going to find the high stress situations, and get those over with tomorrow on my day off from classes. For example, I'm going to do all the Calculus homework for this chapter and not have to worry about it for quite a while. I'm also going to finish up website commissions for various groups/organizations, AND probably drop a few MEP projects. [Sorry Mellow!]

I will still continue to coodinate Project Editor 2, which is basically the only form of relaxation [other than Pokemon Heart Gold] that I have right now. There will be no buhuhuhu /run away crying from this emo coordinatior! Not anymore at least. xD
  • L is for Lottery / G is for God / C is for Computer 2009-09-29 22:21:52 L is for Lottery

Arkansas just passed a new law last year making so we have a state lottery. It went live Monday, and I bought my first lottery ticket tonight. I won 20 bucks. =D

I want to say I feel bad for the poor people who are going to become obsessed and spend a fortune getting nothing, but then I remember that possible scholarsihp funds will come out of this, and then I just say "fuck it".

G is for God [A followup]

It's very odd that I got some responses on my last God/religion related topic on MSN. [I actually post my journals on other blogs, so I get wild responses everywhere]

I had a lovely and balanced discussion with this great person.

I explained my reasoning for faith, and he explained his reasoning for non-faith. It was a very mature and great conversation, and I got a better understanding of why people like him don't follow religion. I explained why I followed relgion, and he seemed to understand my point of view as well.

Really, it boiled down to one thing that we could both 100% agree on.

[There were other factors we agreed on, but I'd rather not bring those up here]

The environments that we grew up in were totally different. I was born in a conservative souther town where you're burned at the stake for not going to church [I'm only slightly kidding]. He was born in New York, with a very liberal family and a lot more freedom in choosing what he did on Sunday mornings. Not saying that either one of those is right or wrong, or that you HAVE to live in those areas to get the religion/nonreligion side of things, but we came to the consensus that it was a pretty big factor.

Although we didn't actually change each other's opinions, we got a better understanding of each other.

THIS is how things should work people! Nice great lovely discussions!

  • A is for Anime ; P is for Pounds 2009-09-28 18:56:29 Rosario Vampire is a series I really enjoy. =D Sure it's flawed and has God-awful scripting, but it's still really fun to watch, and it makes fun of itself with 4th wall breaking, which I love. xD

And they have a 2nd season. :awesome:

Also, I usually would never bring this up [It's very personal] but....

After years of being overweight, I'm slowly but surely conquering it. =D

Getting on a diet that eliminates Sugar, Salt, Caffine [AAH!], Red Meats [except once a week], and drinking 100 OZ of water a day, and 30 minutes of walking?

    Well, I'm down 30 pounds. =D

I haven't weighed this low in my life since Jr. High, which shocks me. O_o

I still have 20 more to go before I hit my goal weight and build, but I'm more than halfway there! xD

    W is for Work

Work is nice. =D My paycheck Friday was huge, and now I have some hopes of saving large sums of money for things like.. Oh, I don't know... A newcomputer? _awesomeface_.

My editor is awesome and loves my sports articles since I've heard her bitch about them for so long and I can write them to her standards. =D

My old column is still nice too, although it doesn't take as long as the sports artcile I write. xD

Oh, and running their website supplements my paycheck nicely as well.

    G is for God

[For the purpose of this writing, please note that I am of the Christian faith]

Today, I was thinking... "Why do religions get so much HAET from the interwebz?" when a visiting pastor spewed some ridiculous things about the internet needing to be banned from all Christian homes [Yeah.. Right. -_-]

Then I went and browsed my interwebz using the googlez.

    Then I realized...

Most religion based arguments on the internet are STUPID. Let me clarify. Most people who argue pro-religion are stupid [although some anti-religion people are just as bad].

They come into arguments with people on the internet, expecting them to listen and not make arguments. Then, when anti-religious people make an argument they get "ZOMG! UR GOING TO HELL!" from the pro-religious people.

4 forum boards I found on my googling identified this. >.> One thread was somebody discussing the theory of evolution, which eventually degraded into an creationism discussion which came into the argument of if God exists. One kid put

"If god exists, why does bad stuff like murder/rape/ect happen?"

Which is a legitamite question, or at least that's what I thought.. O_o

Well, one of the creationist arguers put

"DENYING GOD?! BLASPHEMY! Repent thy sinful ways or thou shalt fall into the lake of FIRE!"

At first I thought it was a joke, but reading through his posts, I realized this guy was serious!

It's shit like this that gives religious people bad reputations on the internet. Just reading it [and me being religious] and the bad discussions brought about it on both sides make me /facepalm.

I think the whole point of me typing all of this is kind of ambiguious, so let me give you the tl;dr version..

"Aruging religion anywhere and anytime is pointless, because it's pretty much a given that neither side is going to change their mind when everything is said and done. However, religious discussions should be more like Q&A sessions. A nice, civilized and orderly discussion so that neitehr side gets hostile and enraged. "

But this is the internet, and I know that's impossible. xD
