M is for Midterms
2009-10-10 10:37:06
Phewwwww. Just finished my dreadful midterms.
Calculus was about the hardest test I've ever taken in my life, Economics was challenging yet fun, Biology was just recalling information memorized, Business Systems was laughibly easy and Computer Systems was laughibly easy.
So my grades this midterm?
Calculus: B
Economics: A
Biology: A
Business Systems: A
Computer Systems: A/B [I don't know what the hell is going on here, but apparently he hasn't graded all our work yet, so I have 2 0's for grades that will be A's in a week]
Fuck Calculus. Keeping me from a 4.0! I study by butt off for the class, only to be given ridiculously difficult exams that not even doctoral degree professors could hope to pass. =/
At least it's my lsat semester of math, and I can get back into the accounting classes next semester. It's just the stupidity of Sophomore year curriculum, with the entire accounting area requiring at least 1 semester of no accounting classes.
I'll also be taking summer classes. Woo hoo.

J is for Jonas
2009-10-08 11:12:52
Ok, before I get the disneytard label, let me make a quick disclaimer. Yes. Yes I realize that the Jonas Brothers and pretty much any disney teen out there is killing the diversity of music with nothing but candy pop music clogging up the charts.
But, here's where my journal pops in...
I really wish more stars behaved like them. Celebries are role models for our children these days! As much as it pains me to say it, people aren't looking up to Kent Clark, the Mickey Mouse Club or Kaptain Kangaroo anymore. =(
Its the booze drinking, sexy and "modified" celebrities like Paris Hilton, Christina Aguleira and Lindsay Lohan they look up to.
I'm soooo glad that the younger generation has these disney stars though. Now I'll admit... At any time, they can fall off the wagon and destroy their image.
But for now, they're doing our kids a world of good. Promoting the values of friendship, charity and kindness. I mention the Jonas Brothers in particular, because they seem to be doing everything right! Promoting charity by donating large sums of their money to diabetes foundations [one of them has it, dunno which one] and AIDS foundations. They promote healthy moral values with purity rings [the whole "save sex till marriage thing", which is NOT something I want to argue about because it's not the foucs of this discussion]. And they're just all around level headed and don't let the fame go to their head.
Really, all the modern disney stars do this. And I hope they keep it that way. Because their track record [LIndsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Hillary Duff....] isn't so flattering...
I guess the whole point of this discussion came up when I was flipping through the entertainment channels. One channel was talking about how hip it was that this anorexic model lost another 5 pounds. Another one was hyping about Britney's lates "wow" moment. And the cou-de-gra came when John+Kate+8 footage was playing, celebrating their divorce.
....
Then I turned it again, and saw a special on the Jonas Brothers donating 15% of their profit to chairties.
Is it any wonder I'm happy that the young people are at least getting some form of good role modelng? ESpecially with my 6 younger siblings all being around that teenage years.
Blah. I just think it's also me getting older. Let me get my old 20-year-old cane and start complaining about Social Security in my next entry.
Which makes me wonder if I've outgrown this hobby.... O_o
tl;dr: ALL MUSIC CELRBRITIES ARE EVIL EXCEPT DISNEY ONES! [I kid, but not by much. O_o]
