JOURNAL: chrisking69 (Chris MacKay)

  • one year ago... 2006-06-25 02:46:38 wow, i can NOT believe it's been a year since i've made a journal entry here...that's just incredible, it's been even longer since i've made an actual, completed AMV. i think i may be getting back into it in the fall, but life has just too much going on. I still have that new Numb video half-finished, as well as another 2 or 3 which i can't think of.

I've finally gotten the entire series of Ranma ½ in english, but the only problem is finding a video program that'll import the filetype, .mkv (Matroska). If anyone knows of any video program that works with that format, please PLEASE let me know. otherwise i'll be stuck converting things for a long long time.

as usual, i appreciate opinions or even just quick comments on my existing AMVs. most, if not all of them are not that great, but a year has gone by and i could use some inspiration to get back into it. laters's
  • i've finally broken 2005-06-23 03:23:41 ok, i've had enough of wasting my time on the computer, playing games, chatting on the NCIX forums, and all that crap. tonight, since i have NOTHING better to do, i'm going to try my damn best to finish Numb. wish me luck
  • Numb 2005-05-13 02:20:46 i've got about 1 minute 34 seconds done so far. i haven't been working on Numb for a few days, but i plan on working on it a bit tomorrow, since it's my day off.
  • numb...done? 2005-04-28 23:49:45 no, not yet. at this rate, i expect to finish it in a week or two. i'm having a bit of trouble finding the appropriate clips to use. to keep Movie Maker running quickly, i keep my imported collections relatively small. i've imported only seasons 1 and 2 of Ranma.
  • MOVE MAKER MUST DIE!!! 2005-04-21 23:20:37 goddamn Movie Maker. the stupid program completely screwed up my Numb AMV. somehow, my save file has been corrupted, so now Movie Maker crashes everytime i try to load the file.

fortunately, there's two upsides to this whole thingL
    1. through my genius method of process of elimination, i've found out that one of my codecs in Movie Maker is causing the program to crash when i load the AMV. so, if i disable all the codecs and THEN load up the save file, it loads without incident.
    2. everytime i finish the AMV for the night, i save myself a copy of the movie, showing what i've got so far. this way, if my save file is somehow corrupted, i can restart the AMV from a new file, and use the saved .wmv as a reference. very convenient :)

i'm gonna be working on Numb again tonight, it's already 55 seconds done :D
