Having just finished reading "The Count of Monte Cristo", I eagerly jumped into watching "Gankutsuou" to see how the anime would treat the story. Even though it threw the happenings into a futuristic space setting, it was doing a pretty good job of following the basics of the novel.
Until episode 18. Where I, cradled in the comfort of knowing the outcome through my recent perusal of the novel, watched the duel in ignorance of what was to come. Franz, Franz.... *sob* I don't know if I'll ever love the Count again. :(
From here on, I'm throwing away my memory of the novel. "Gankutsuou" has taken a huge leap away from the original story, and so, to be safe, I will no longer trust in knowing what will happen next.
Oh Franz! *sob* - Twitchy plurals 2006-06-27 20:33:13 I'm not quite sure of, and I'm lazy about researching, the plural for "anime". For some reason my entire being twitches in disturbed rejection of "animes". Reading that pluralization is like listening to fingernails trailing evily down a blackboard. I can't say I'm correct in assuming "anime" is both plural and singular, like "deer" and "moose", but I really really want to believe so. (I really really do!) I can't stand seeing the word "animes", and I find its use more and more in the fandom. Mommy, make it stop! Make it stop! *wail!* (okay, that last bit got silly, but I'm in earnest here!)

Ah, Bethany, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one confused by "emo".
And now, please excuse me while practice being "emo" as I mow the lawn. Heh. *__* - Emo 2006-05-25 15:49:58 Is it pitifuly sad that I finally know what "emo" means? Honestly the first time I read that slang-word in question form ("are you emo?"), I confusedly wondered if it was referring to Emo Phillips (and if you know who he is, you deserve a smiley cookie award). ^___^
