JOURNAL: Split pea soup

  • What happened to good 'ole fashioned video editing? 2003-08-25 15:47:24 Once upon a time there was a something called video editing. Everyone in the land used to create anime music videos. Some people exceled while others failed horribly at it, but this is how videos were created at that, goos ones. Then...all of a sudden, the Dreaded Adobe AfterEffects came along. People, really good editirs and really bad ones, flocked to this new program in droves. Unbeknowest to them though, instead of improving their work, they instead were poisoning, even drowning their work in it in many cases. After this many videos became unwatchable to the point of wanting to puke food that one was fed as a fetus. In one very bad case, were the Otakon 2003 AMV contest. There was only great video that utilized the fine art of video editing, the Escaflowne video that reminded people about the fine art of video editing at it's best. After that video, all others made those with some kind of knowledge want to hurl.

But yeah...I just wanted to write to express my concern for the increase of AfterEffects soaked videos poppingand BAD they are. It's really ashame, though, because a lot of it feels like wasted time, energy, and memory on a lot of creator's parts. I think that AfterEffects is called AfterEffects for a reason. It's like you don't cook with Confectioner's sugar, it is used for decoration and to make the food look nice and appealing as so with AMVs.

    Those are my thoughts. =/
