  • Noticed my... 2002-04-04 01:45:46 ..."Shoot-em'ups" music video catalog? It's my latest and inspired from video games. I was planning to release it last month but I had to delay it because of database projects that I had been involved. Hopefully, I get to finish it in mid April.

Why Shoot-em'-ups? Coz its all about shoot-em'-up games!
  • Hindustan 2002-04-02 08:52:33 Looks like everywhere these days people are talking about the same thing. Wether in coffe house (kedai kopi), mamak stall and in homes people are ranting about the government's decision to lessen the average viewing of Bollywood films, or otherwise known in this country as Hindustan, in local TV stations. As usual, to this rather new issue - although Hindustan were no longer new to us - it is fun to be polemic by anyone, from little kids who are just entering elementary school to old ones who are no longer qualified to enter any educational firms.

And, as usual, I enjoy getting into this discussion although I do not know much about Bollywood actors and actress that are drooled by teenage girls and their mothers.

In my head right now there's nothing else, except faces of our sisters and aunts... and those faces are not pretty. There are sadness, sourness and 'tensen'ness. For those women whose hobby is watching Hindustan day and night, from Sunday to Sunday, they surely would feel uneasy of this issue.

As for queens of Hindustan who lives in the city such in KL, I don't think they'd be worry too much. If the movies not aired on TV, they could just get VCD in open market. But those who lives in small and isolated villages, my answer for they would be crying all day. Selling 5-6 palms are just enough for getting fish for the family.

Now I am not starting a topic about gender but who likes and who dislikes Bollywood films. To all sisters and aunties please don't get angry because of my statement that sounded like only women loves to watch Hindi movies. I admit, there are a few of us men who also drools at the lovely heroines in Hindustan films.

What I am about to talk right now is how films may have influence to ourselves and our virtual entities. Not just Hindustan films but all kinds of movies and stories that we have been watching everyday. In my case, although sometimes I went nuts of all these Hindustan that are frequent on TV, I don't think its influence could lead to social problems of our kids. And I certainly don't think that punk, skin head and underground was caused by influence of Hindustan. Same goes to the teenage girls who wear sexxy clothes, showing off their chest and legs, those were not influence from watching Hindustan.

OK, so there were times we saw in films the heroines wearing such clothes, but they're just like us Asians, who love and would like to feel being a white.

If certain acts like robbery, rape, killing people, hitting traffic police and burning teachers' houses, that I don't think the ideas were from Bollywood movies. Heck, Hollywood films are even worse. They could even make the worst of blood and gore. If not, then how they could bombed Iraq?

And that was just the violence, we're not even talking about nudity and erotic that videos are aplenty on CDs/DVDs in open market. While I have never heard of such films that comes from Bollywood. And what about movies from Hong Kong and Japan? Does their films have no negative influences?

Hindustan films are nothing more than a light piece of entertainment. And as any kinds of entertainment, if one's lost in reality from watching TV day and night that one has forgot to cook the rice for the kids and husband, it's not a good thing. Same goes to those husbands whos getting their entertainment in pubs, dangdut clubs and disco, if they forgot to return home afternight, surely their wives would get mad.

IMO every single thing and event has its own good and bad. The main problem lies within ourselves that we sometimes let things contolling us instead of us controlling things. In times like these it would be good to see the industry making films and drama of our kinds and getting high priorities on TV. but still, i would feel worry and afraid to see if our younger generations would fall in with biker gangs and sportscar gangs, dreaming of getting married with 'Datuks', having sugar daddy and crazy wanting to become models and singers, just because they were influenced by our own films and dramas...
  • SONY 12/8/32x 2002-03-31 11:28:42 Bought a new burner yesterday, SONY 12x recorder for RM230. At first I thought of getting old brand RICOH 8x but I couldn't find it, so I grabbed former one instead. Hope it'll last longer (or at least f**ked up less than a year so I still have a warranty)

    Bye bye Imation!
  • This and That, Like This and Like That. 2002-03-31 11:17:52 Some old news:

    ---
    Feudal influence
    ---
In Shandong, Beijing, a 10-year old girl had been beaten to death by her own parents who loved their son more than her. Her parents, who were bounded by feudal influences thought that only the boy is worthy an heir to the family.

It was really unfortunate for the girl. If she had been raised here then probably her destiny would've changed, because she would be taken care of (bagai tatang minyak yang penuh) and when she had reached an ideal age, her 'price' probably would increase over RM10,000 to RM20,000... depending on current market. The unfortunate souls would be the guys!

    Football (soccer) Craze
    ---

While in Kuwait, the police had to arrest a flight assistant who had made a prank bomb call to delay the flight from Kuwait to Beirut that he had scheduled to aboard, just because he didn't want to miss watching a live football match. The flight was delayed for two hours.

Fortunately, it was a prank call. If there had been real bomb, the people who didn't watch it and those who were unrelated to football would've been dead 'frog'! This case clearly shows that a ball that is kicked and lobbed can even beat the human's head.

    ---
    Road holes and trees
    ---

And in Soa Poulo, a group of settlers had gone mad because of the holes on the road in their town had not been repaired, so they filled the holes by planting banana trees and other big trees on it.

Well, looks like they have not seen the worse roads in KL yet. At here, not only that we could fit in a banana tree, but some are also huge enough for a fish pond.

But at least their way of showing it was alright. In fact it was creative and surely would get the government to notice.
  • Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse... 2002-02-17 13:01:51 ...well, something worse happened. I had thought about getting a new m/b & processor last week, but the day before I was going to KL my Imation 8/4/24x CD-Writer went broken. What worse was that the warranty expired a few days before it happened. I WAS EEEXXXTTTRRREEEMMMLLLYYY MMMAAADDD !!! Almost thought of bicycle-kicking on that d**n drive. I didn't quite mind with the m/b problem, I may not been able to write thesis or doing MVs because I could still do them on my friends' comp; but the CD-RW drive was vital for my 'business', my primary source of income.

So Dahlan (roommate), Fikasy and I went to KL Saturday last week, did a check on current hw price @ Low Yatt & Imbi. I was told by Dahlan that CPUs are cheaper @ Thundermatch Imbi, and its better to buy other hardwares @ Low Yatt. Soltek m/b was priced @ RM280 and Duron900 priced @ RM185. Also checked on the new Asus m/b that featured dual-processor. The sales asst told me its better than Tyan mobo because its more stable & doesn't need ECC RAM, but its also pricey RM950. HERRK!

After wandering in Low Yatt, Imbi & SW Plaza, I had decided not to buy 'em cause I thought it'd be better to send the CD-RW drive for service first, and spend the rest of my savings for the 3-months rent.

    :: kerje sambilan ::

Last week, Dahlan and I went to a CC (Internet Cafe) in Bandar Baru Bangi asked for a pt-job. The manager was from Kedah so we spoke in _bahasa negeri_ ("aku-hang-awatnya-ghaplah-tawaq-gheja-pat-taim") She was quite a chatterbox and we talked a lot. NEways, she said that she was looking for technicians who knows a bit about networking & linux b/c she's running a CC and planning to do PC business & service, but she's not going to start the promotion until sometime in May. So we were told that she may not be needing our help very much until later this year and she might be paying us monthly. We said OK, but we need a few days to think about it and we were hoping for weekly payment. I still have 3rd semester but I hope to earn extra money before the end of March, and Dahlan might be moving out from Bangi and start his enterprise working under contract of DBKL but he's still have not confirmed about it. Now, where else in Bangi we're gonna look for? ...
