  • World Cyber Games Challange 2001-10-18 17:26:40 Havent been online for a few days because I'm honing my ki11in9 5ki11z in Quake 3 arena. I just signed up for (Malaysia championship) Cyber Olympics, which will be held at Mid Valley Petaling Jaya. The preliminary contest will start this Saturday 20th October & 21st for qualifier & final. If I managed to beat 63 competitors and win 1st prize I'll get an accomodation to Seoul, to represent M'sia in the world cyber games finals, and compete with the best of the best, yeehaa! But if I lose, at least I get the experience & fun competing with other M'sians.

Other than Quake 3, there are Age Of Empires 2 and Half-Life Counterstrike. I would participate for Counterstrike but I don't have a specific team. I also wished they have a contest for Unreal Tournamment which is what I'm very good at. Oh well, there aren't many M'sians that would give support for anime & gaming community, that is why Malaysia Comics Karnival had been canceled. Otherwise it would've been the first Anime & HK comics convention in SE Asia.

I'll be off to PJ this saturday so, wish me luck.

    :)

  • Streets Of Rage (Bare Knuckles) 2001-10-12 03:10:02 Remember the 16-bit era? It was not so long ago when we went by a different rules about video game technology. Video gamers (us) used to complain about image flicker, poor sprite animations, chunky polygons. We also had to contend with something that we barely think about it nowadays - the annoying & forgettable repetitive music in many of the dished out games, the result of limited disk/rom space and little memory reserves after filled with graphics, game engine and effects. However, there were a few of those games that got it all right, and one of them is Streets Of Rage series.

At that time Capcom's Final Fight & Street Fighter became the industry standard and many game developers tried to follow but no one could ever topple the king, until Sega got togeher with Yuzo Koshiro and blew out of the water with Streets Of Rage. Although it was released only on MegaDrive (Genesis) and not in the arcades, and the MegaDrive had inferior sound & graphics capabilities compared to Super Famicom (SNES), Streets Of Rage managed to look and sound far better than Final Fight.

Streets Of Rage had big and smoothly animated sprites, a lot of obstacles and fresh levels, excellent parallax scrolling, plenty of combo moves and special attacks, and a gorgeous babe in tight outfit. But one thing that made Streets Of Rage really stand out was the music. It was the first 16-bit video game to deliver techno soundtrack, while most other games of the same genre featured p0rn music. Streets Of Rage 2 stands as one of the best on MegaDrive. It sure made Yuzo Koshiro a famous gaming rock star.

  • Finally, got back my host 2001-10-09 04:34:24 Since last week I was worried about not being able to access my payhost, viator2k.net (NoYearlyFees.com, NYF) and I thought they have terminated my account because of copyright infridgement or something. But yesterday I got so relieved when I received an email response from NYF, they said that my account is still valid, only the control panel was a little messed up and they've already reset it. I didn't remember messing the CP because I rarely checking on my host, the last time I accessed my account all I did was looking at the statistics. Over 4gigs of bandwidth has been used (I have a limit of 5gigs per month bandwidth.) It has been two months since I signed up, and so far the server's quite reliable and the support team has been very helpful and I thanked them for their friendliness and their fast responses.

Right now I'm uploading "Vulnerable Angel" video into viator2k.net because people could not download it from Rehsa4's server since last week. It should be done in a few hours from now. I'm also saving RM400 (thats 106USD) to buy extra 400megs webspace. I have used 110/120megs and could only fit three high-quality videos. And then I'll move out from Rehsa4 I think he has carried more than enough of my burden, heh.
