Otaku Aishouka Shinsei Kamei (OASK, originally CyberIA), an MP3 affiliation group that owns a website & messageboard where I happened to be a moderator there had been caught by MRSA (MP3 Sites Request Affiliation) for stealing designs from them a few days ago. They claimed that the website layout and contents in OASK was almost exactly the same as MRSA (except for the colour sceme & pictures), same goes for the messageboard forums & descriptions. I didn't realized until one of the MRSA members told me about it in a thread and then it became a huge debate between the OASK defender (I alone, the webmasters were 'missing' at that time) and MRSA (a lot of people, Arashi Rei being the most popular) in both messageboards. I agreed with them that OASK was at fault and the only issue that I could bring up in hoping to defend was about copyright notice not pasted @ MRSA website. That was the only thing I thought it would help OASK from going further down than it is now. Someone called me a 5-year old moron for making sarcasm posts but I didn't really mind and I thought I didn't wrote anything sarcastic. I knew they were so pissed, I actually enjoyed reading their angry replies (har har har) After that DeepZer0, one of the webmasters, came to apologize on behalf of OASK about it and said that he didn't know his fellow webmaster cloning it until he saw the links and he promised to change it as soon as possible. MRSA accepted the apology and then everyone cooled down.

    It's currently 9:50pm (GMT+8) I'll be returning back to University this midnight @ 12:15am.
  • Exercise 2001-10-29 16:34:02 I washed the car porch floor this morning, and I felt exhausted after that. This clearly shows that I haven't been exercise for so long. I rarely did outdoor sports or jog ever since I moved to my relatives four months ago. If I remember correctly the last time I played badminton with friends was in January. At that time I was in college for third year. I'll be returning there next month & staying with some juniors. All of my previous roommates have already graduated, and this year I'm alone... Aaaaaargh! How I missed them.

According to Phill, an online friend of mine, he said it's good to exercise for at least thirty minutes a day, your life will expand 3 more years and you'll look 3 years younger. I figured if I had been exercise an hour each day, right now I'd look 16 years old and if my lifespan is 63, it would turn to 69. And if I'm smoking for an hour, I'd look like 28 and my lifespan would be shorten to 57. Some logics, huh!?

For two hours at night (from 8pm) I spent working on my main video project - ???. I did a little special effects (zooming) that I tried to copy from Capcom vs SNK "earth zooming". Firstly, I captured some still pictures of earth surface from 3DMark2001 demo, and then I used them on timeline & add zoom motion. And then I added ripple effects and tweaked the settings a bit to make the clouds looked somewhat animated. It worked, although not so convincing. Right now I'm short of one picture and so I went searching @ google.com for a satelite picture of the whole Japan, similar to the one in Capcom vs SNK intro, but I couldn't find it. Alternatively, I could just take a picture from arcade machine and then scan it, but the problem is the picture would look blurry & low-res. I walked off from my PC for 30 mins.

At 10:30pm I went back at Premiere but I was out of idea for the projects and suddenly something else came to my mind. The next one and a half hours I spent on creating a 30 seconds Ghost In The Shell trailer. The editing was quick because the source was in VCD (MPEG1) format so I didn't have problems in Premiere except that the quality wasn't so great. I used a fast heavy-metal music for this one. The reason I made this because I just want to make sure that I can do beat-matching for fast music. Finished compiling at 1:30am and right now uploading it to server1 (I did uploading it twice but the connection got cut-off, D*MN TMNet!!!)< I think I'll post it here right after this. And then go to sleep.
  • 5.1 2001-10-27 16:08:26 For the past few days I've been to a friend's house playing around with a new software he just bought - Mx5.1 It's a DTS audio tool for mixing 6 channels audio to create surround sound effects. The interface looks cluttered but it's fairly easy to use, that is after hours of reading the manual & online help.

Today I just made a surround mix from a stereo music within minutes. Well, actually all I did was copy the front-left & right wave audio into surround channels and created a 10ms delay and filter some frequencies in it. And then I amplified the bass at about +10dB, that's all. After that I save it as AC-3 & play using home theatre speakers. The result was very impressive, kinda like experiencing the sound inside an auditorium. And then I thought "Hey, if I could make a music video with multichannel audio that would be cool!" but the problem is that the audio have to be in DTS format and I thought only DVD .vob or SVCD MPEG2 are the only formats that have support for multichannel audio. I don't know aboout DivX so I went to the phorum to ask if anyone knows anything about DTS. Haven't received any replies yet. If nobody answers to that thread then I guess that nobody knows DTS as much as I do, hehe :)

As for project updates, I didn't do anything much today except editing 2 seconds in the timeline because I felt tired since last week (hmm... maybe because of lacking outdoor excercise.) I had problems with the Angel Sanctuary video footage that I compressed in divX3.2, I felt that it's a lot slower to render than 3.11a aargh! If only I have a lot of CPU processing power or extra HD space (6/40 GB left) I'd convert it Indeo/HuffYUV. That's it, I'm gonna buy another 60GB IBM Desktar 72krpm in the next two months.

Finally, I was able to download alternatefutures' "Marionette Inside My Head" from Tripod. I thought the problem had something to do with my ISP, but anyway i'm done with it. After watching his video I thought the whole concept was cool, the edit was flawless but I didn't really like the music. Perhaps I should watch it a few more times in a few days to get used to it before preparing a review for him. I don't know why but I'm getting more and more lazy lately. I just hope I could keep the promise since I already made a deal with him.

I also took a visit at his website, "Man, this guy's really good at Flash" I wish I'm also good at Macromedia Flash but alas I couldn't take animation course, it's not in my field of study.

Other than that I've downloaded Phade's "Material Girl", Zarxrax's "Win" (I must say that I like the overall quality of his videos, they're all looked clean - except for his "fanservice") and 63% of ErMaC's highly acclaimed "Soul Of An Angel" 90MB MPEG (haven't finish download it yet, but I think it's great vid after reading the opinions.)
  • Finally, got some free time to write about CyberGames 2001-10-26 15:21:21 Well CyberGames was already over last 14th October. I don't know who were the winners because I only attended preliminary match on Saturday and I had quite a fun time (more to that later.)

I went there alone and arrived at about 9am. Then I went to the registration booth to get a laminate, and the staff told me to come there again in the afternoon before Quake3 contest. The hall was quite small, just as I had expected, because Samsung Electronics Co. were the only sponsor for the exhibition but it wasn't so bad. The place was crowded and people sitting on the floor waiting for their turns, and some were sleeping on the floor because they arrived too early. The staffs were busy calling the contestants for Half Life: Counterstrike team match. I spent some time wandering around a bit. There were Microsoft booths where they were promoting Windows XP and provided a few computers for guests to test it. So I tried running some apps, played a few games and messing around the desktop. It sure looks kewl and highly customizable.

After that I went to a small theatre booth where they showed Akira DVD movie. I went in to watch it a bit but I wasn't so interested as I have watched it far too many times that I felt a little bored. I thought I heard a lot of swearing in the new English dialogue made by Pioneer it wasn't as good as the original translation made by Manga Entertainment. I still prefer the original script and English voice actors of Kaneda & Tetsuo, they were so much better than the new one. But I was amazed to look at the quality of the picture. It sure drove me to get this new DVD.

The Quake3 deathmatch started in late afternoon and I received a logitech mouse & keyboard from the staff to use it and they said it's free I could keep it, yay. My first (and the last) opponent was a Chinese guy. He was quick and got me in nervous all the time that in 5 mins he managed to beat me while I was flying in the air. After the match ended we did congratulate each other and then walk out to have a chat and eat @ McDonalds. After that I just went home as I was tired.

The next day I went there again in the afternoon to get a Welcome Pack from the staff. I didn't have time to watch the finals because I already bought a bus ticket to go back home so after that I just bought Akira special ed. DVD at a shop in Mid Valley.
  • I didn't make it into finals... 2001-10-25 20:46:11 I got fragged badly and so many times during the first round, that I felt soo ashamed of my own skillz, ugh! I never thought that my first competitor was so sharp and skilled (he managed to go to semi-finals.) At least it's good to see a lot of Malaysians are skillful shooters, and I got a free logitech mouse & keyboard so it was worth it.

I running behind schedules completing my "Angel Sanctuary" video project #2, and there are some technical issues with the lip-sync thingy which I'm not going to talk about it. I don't know if I could finish it within November because second semester will begin in the next two weeks and I'll probably be busy attending lectures, doing my thesis & repeat papers bla blah... ...
