I feel a little like I complain a lot on this particular journal...
But today, I have to, because I know the individuals involved won't ever see it...
But something that REALLY bugs me is the people who complain about being broke all the time, but still have enough money to go out and buy new things like cell phones, mp3 players, etc. when the cell phones, mp3 players, etc. that they already have work perfectly fine. There's no reason to replace them, yet they do anyway. Maybe if they didn't spend all that money on replacing perfectly good items, they wouldn't be so "poor".

You know what I find very cool? Seeing my name in the nominations thingy for the VCAs. Yes, I know that nobody's going to nominate me, and even if they did, they're a ton of other videos that are better than mine. Short answer is: I ain't winnin' nothin'.
But it's still cool to see what categories I put some of my videos in (I guess after awhile, I just forget).

You know what I'm getting a little sick of? People leaving quick comments on my earlier videos saying "Good start, but you can get better!"
Well, DUH. Did they even bother to see how many videos I've made SINCE those? Yes, even I know that my earlier videos weren't as good as my later ones. Making AMVs is a learning experience for me, and with each video I learn something new, and every video brings me closer and closer to being "not the suck". So I kind of resent those comments of "Do better next time", no matter how well-meaning they are. Seriously. If you're going to say that to me, say it about one of my newer ones rather than ones I made ten videos ago.

I've seen some people put up and respond to Quick Comments in their journal, and I think I'll do that for two that I got this morning:
Ode to Wolfram (version 2)
2007-01-15 06:41:12My favourite Wolfram tribute yet. >w< Great job!
Ode to Wolfram
2007-01-15 06:41:12Very good! In some ways I like this more than your newer one, and other ways not. Love the idea. ^^
I'm going to take a guess that they were left by the same person, but anyway...
I totally agree with you about the two videos. While I think the newer one has better editing (ex: not quite as abrupt/choppy), there's a certain energy to the first version that's not quite as present in the second.
I mean, both present the same idea in the same manner: Wolfram is a bitch, but at least he's a bitch in love.
I guess it's hard to say which video is technically better than the other, but I'm still glad I made the new version.

Sixth Journal - Why?
2007-01-15 10:21:09
The question was asked: why make AMVs?
So, let's think about this for a second. Why do I make AMVs?
First of all, because when I'm listening to music and I get an idea, I can see the AMV so clearly in my mind. Sometimes, I'll go look and see if someone has already done a video with the same idea. Sometimes it's better than I had imagined it, sometimes it's nothing at all like what I imagined. And if the image in my mind isn't satisfied, then I have to do it myself just to get it out of my head.
Secondly, praise. I'm a glutton for praise. Even when I myself think "Ug, this is definitely not one of my better works," there's at least one person who doesn't have that creator's bias and will tell me how much they liked it. And when I hear that, I start to think "Well, maybe it's not so bad." Yes, it's not one of my better works, but it's not the worst video in the world.
Third: I get a kind of euphoria when I finish a video. I end up in a very excited, happy state, and since I usually finish videos at night, it sometimes makes sleeping hard to do.
So, my answer is: I guess there's no ONE reason for making videos. It's just fun to do. I find that sometimes with my hobbies, if there's a demand behind it, it's not as fun. Ex: I liked drawing a lot until I took a drawing class, where drawing was a requirement. Thus, it was no longer quite as fun.
Nobody tells me to make AMVs. There's no deadline, no pressure, and if the video turns out crummy, who cares? The majority of people who watch my videos I will never meet.
As long as I still have ideas, I'll still make videos. As long as I still have the will to do it, I'll still make videos. As long as I still have the ability to make them, I'll still make videos. When one of these run out, that's when I'll stop.
