W00000! AnimeUSA rocked. Boy, I feel sorry for all you Jersey folks who bailed out on me in favor of AnimeNext!
Thursday
--------
Went to work, went to my first class, don't remember a thing about them. My body was in school but my mind was already in Virginia. Drove 5 hours to iserlohn's place where I'd be spending the night. Wasn't that bad of a drive, but it was raining (it had been doing so all day). Also, the day before, my brother decided to do me a favor and wash my windows...with glass plus. Glass Plus STREAKS when you run windshield wipers over it. So it was raining, I was in foreign territory, and I couldn't see sh*t. Oh yeah, it was also dark.
I get to VA/MD (I'm still not sure what state UMD is in. It's the University of MARYLAND, everywhere around it is VA. You tell me.) and the rain picks up more. I'm cold, wet, hungry, and have a computer worth more than my car, in the trunk, which has to be moved inside iserlohn's apartment, 2 blocks away and 3 stories up. I don't even remember why I needed to haul it up. Oh yeah, the questions for The Weakest Link were on it and I forgot to print them.
Ordered Chinese Food, it came an hour later, I ate for the first time all day. Then attempted to play DDR on iserlohn's ricepaper pad. I damn near killed myself, but whatever. It was something to do.
Friday
------
Fell asleep at 2:00am. Woke up again at 6:00. Woke up iserlohn by re-enacting Oha no Rock in his room. Hillarity ensues.
It's still raining by 7am (24 hours since it started). We load up our computers as quick as possible in the car and haul ass before the parking lot turns back into a pumpkin...or something.
Went to some diner for breakfast because we figured we best spend money on food now, since we'd blow it all on con-stuff. Ordered French Toast. It was like French Dirt. Good French Toast is when you expend as much energy in the process of chewing it, that you gain in calories from the toast. This stuff was like eating syrup covered sand. NOT a good way to start my morning.
Drive to the hotel at around 8:00. We get all of a block away and I accidentally end up in the right turn only lane. Being the good driver I am, I take the turn. Then I learn that just about every road in VA is a 1 way road, going the wrong way that I want to go. 20 miles later we finally are able to make a u-turn at the airport. Of course to be sure we're going the right way we pull over to a gas station to get directions. Fortunately there were no high places for people with high powered rifles to hide, so we made it back onto the beltway ok.
We get at the hotel at around 9:30. Find Omar, steal a cart from the hotel, and unload our computers into the panel room. We were supposed o have a sexy panel room, but the fire dept. decided to not inspect the room yet, so we got bumped to a converted ballroom with an air wall. This room presents problems later on.
Parused the dealers room a bit. Didn't see anything I even wanted. Nothing but bootlegs, or stuff so crappy, even crap calls it crap.
I don't remember much else about that day. AMV contest, some panels. Don't even remember which ones they were. I remember codecs was that day, because everyone stayed for that panel and didn't go to iserlohn and Omars' con submitting panel. I kinda felt sorry for 'em, but whatever. This was SO educational! </GoldenBoy> Oh yeah, and during one of the panels there was a kendo demonstration next door, so all throughout the panel you hear "DOIYOOO!!!! AIIIII!! GRRAAAHHH!!!"
11:00pm Omar and friends spun videos for 3 hours. Some girl got offended because we were making fun of them. I don't think she knew they were OUR VIDEOS. Oh well. Everyone was lightly drunk, and we had fun. Went up to the room and passed out.
Saturday
--------
Panels all day. Kinda hurt me though. I got sick of seeing my own videos, much less anyone else's. AMVs, AMVs, AMVs...food at 4:00. We got pizza. Big surprise there.
AMV awards were after the cosplay, which lasted all of 9 skits. All the winners truely deserved it, especially Dan's SNK Tribute video. During the first showing I flat out told Iserlohn (who was sitting next to me) "My God, Shining Collection is going to lose to this." I was write, but it deserved it. Hopefully I can bum a copy off Omar.
11:00 - Best hour EVER. The Weakest Link was an amazing success. Too bad the dance was going on next door, so all you hear on the tape is the dance. Hopefully I can subtitled it sometime this week. I asked everyone to take this seriously...they all showed up drunk. VERY drunk. I think everyone in the audience was drunk too. Things got out of hand fast. I loved every minute of it =D The highlight of the show was definately when Andy used a sheet of paper to make a target, put it on his shirt, and Jason threw Tim's still full punch bottle at him. Either that, or the time Nathan had to spend a round standing up...and couldn't. Nathan ended up winning...somehow. He got a copy of Bubblegum Crash on DVD, signed by Scott Fraiser. This led to an interesting comment later, which I'm not going to bring up ^_^
After that we all went back to the room. Nobody was fit to drive so everyone but Jason crashed in our room that night. Somehow Nathan managed to get more drunk in the time it took us to lock up the room and get upstairs. He then fashioned a toga out of a tablecloth and played a round of drunken DDR in it. Then he figured out how to climb stairs and gave us a good hour of drunken ranting...
Sunday
------
But nothing could have prepared us for the next bit. Certain people decided to take a smoke break, and we decided to follow them, just to see if they could make it down the stairs OK. One didn't, but we were expecting that. In the lobby there was this bald scary guy talking to a janitor. He comes over as Nathan is running off the big list of things he drank that night. At first he thinks he's hotel staff and apologizes and asks him not to bust him. Turns out the guy is just another poor drunk soul with a lot to talk about. He sits Nate down and gives him a good 2 hours of drunken ramblings. It was so bad it talked Nate sober.
After we woke up around 10:00, we packed up, and checked out. I spent my winnings in the dealer's room on a stuffed Nekobus because it was the only legal thing I could find. Played a round of DDR with iserlohn, went to the anime tractor pull just because we wanted to be on the other side of a panel table for sometime during this con. I won a dvd of A Chinese Ghost Story for getting a question right about Ghost Sweeper Mikami. I think I'm the only person who's seen it ~.~
Drove back to Iserlohn's place, unloaded his computer, ate at some noodle place, and then drove home. Made it back in a record breaking 3 hour and 40 minutes. It finally stopped raining.

Please step AWAY FROM THE WEBSITE

So like, while I was out saving the world, or taking a shower, one of the two, I do both so often...Worldcom like, blew up or something. I dunno. Some schmuck probably spilled a Bud on one of the routers and the resulting electrically charged fluid probably took out most of their routers. This sucks for me because WorldCom supplies my cable company with their service, and it's my cable company who unknowingly host my website. I'm sure you're all curious as hell to find out what my pings are now that like, 8,000 something Worldcom T1 servers are hosed, so lemme copy and paste this here ping report...
Pinging www.google.com [216.239.39.101] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 216.239.39.101:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
Yeah. That just about sums it all up. Needless to say, my cable modem looks like a Christmas light on speed, and my connection time to the internet can be measured pretty easily in miliseconds.
Oh yeah, I didn't go to AWA, but Shining Collection won Best Upbeat. Yeah. Now I feel like a troll for sending it to AUSA. Oh well. Maybe I'll win there too. I need a pick-me-up. WHERE'S MA BEER?!

Looks like Vic's website is blasting off again!...</TeamRocket>

Meh. Stupid router decided that instead of the IP I assigned to this machine, it would create a DHCP client table of 50 other dead entries and put my machine as the 51st. Needless to say, my website was a little confused, but it's all fixed now.
2 weeks 'till Otakon and still no word as to what AMVs made the finals. This is the latest it's ever taken them to get the word out. Hopefully this won't be like AX where we have to start taking hostages again and executing them every hour on the hour to prove that we mean buisness ;)
What has 4 legs and 1 arm? A happy pit bull.

Sweet Jesus! Don't people know when enough is enough? What's the deal with people entering the same video in 4 or 5 cons? Has it ever sunk in that maybe we're sick of seeing the same damn thing everywhere we go? It's even worse if said videos actually WIN stuff. Give it a break people. Your video might be good but you've got to seriously rethink your actions when you decide that playing out your AMV worse than CNN plays out WTC footage is a GOOD IDEA. Come off it and make some more videos if you wanna get shown all over the place. And for Heaven's sakes if you're gonna submit a video to a billion cons, at least make the effort to be there you trolling louts!
Maybe trolling cons is the "in" thing right now, so maybe I should just submit Requiem for Excel to every con in the US. I got a billion blank tapes lying around. What's stopping me? Morals?! Ha. Never stopped anyone before!

No the title doesn't have anything to do with a future VicBond007 release...or does it? ^.~
All the server errors should be fixed now. Server admin moved the computer, modified the other folders to work on his home net connection, and kinda forgot about me. I changed it back though. New server is a tad slower, but it's working now. And uh, that's all BYE.
