Chapter Thirty-Six: In which our hero devours a pile of delicious fructose corn syrup in candy form. Sweetened!
2008-05-09 10:43:51
It's an IC. And it's my March video because I'm cheating!
Now go watch it and then spam the announcement thread or your grandchildren will sell all your belongings.

So why in the hell is watermelon flavor always green? Seems like a misstep of grand proportions that we just keep repeating into infinity. Have we really thought this through enough? Green is the color of the rind, which is one of the only parts you're not supposed to eat. Why not just color them black like the seeds? Grand idea candy industry as a whole.
And yes, I understand that it's really a matter of natural associations, but the rationale is out the window.
And blue raspberry is an affront to all things raspberry-licious. I love my red flavors. But the blue makes it so pretty. Sigh.
I said SIGH.
end.

Chapter Thirty-Five: In which our hero eats meats and slobbers even today. Feverish!

Have you ever had that video that maybe had an unusual concept or an unorthodox source combination and you were a little wary of starting it because it may end up not working and you'd have to trash it? And then there's that one moment where you're throwing some clips together, working out a few ideas and suddenly it just clicks. Like a loud satisfying click. "Oh it was the right size so I don't have to make another trip to the store. Right on."
With that click you realize that your idea will work. The clips you need do exist and all is right with the world.
I had that moment twice today with two different videos that I had been putting off. They shall truly be awesome and will likely be a return to form. (It's no secret that lately my releases have had an inconsistent quality to them)
Then to celebrate that moment, I usually make the annoucement poster even though the video is only, let's say, 10% complete. It's just my thing.
So here, because I like to share (and drum up a little anticipation for a distant future release):

The Improv Project is out, for the three of you who may still care and weren't aware of it already.
I contributed track sixteen which was a combination of E7 and instrumental video game music with a surprise at the end. Although the quality of the various tracks is uneven at best, I'm quite happy with mine, as are a lot of people apparently. Even godix sort of said something nice about it, so there.
Fun Facts*:
- Check the chalboard in the background part way through the track (ignore the butterfly) and you'll see a shameless shout out to two videos of mine, one of which I still haven't finished.
- The entire track was edited over the course of two days, and then submitted on the third. On the first day, as soon as I got home with the track I pounded out pretty much the entire video, minus the cat. But the track just kind of ended, so later, in a moment of inspiration, I added the Azumanga Daioh cameo. Doing and redoing the masks for that part took the entire second day, all for that ten seconds of footage.
- Apt viewers and those who are sticklers for details may notice that the cat in the end doesn't actually have any eyebrows. I'd pictured in my mind how that scene would look before I realized that the cat (and all cats to be honest) doesn't actually have eyebrows. The ones you see were photoshopped on courtesy of Amarao of FLCL (known as the eyebrows guy to some).
- Flamingos turn a deeper shade of pink depending on the amount of shrimp they eat.
- I also edited the intro, which, if anyone was wondering, was also edited in true improv style. The entire process, including encoding and snack breaks, was three hours. The audio was just something I happened to have on my computer.
*amount of actual fun derived from these facts is determined by the reader and I offer no guarantee as to the overall quality of fun had by such reader.

Chapter Thirty-Four: In which our hero makes a decision on what details of his life will *not* be told to the grandchildren. Portentous!

Well what could that pic be all about? Why I do believe it's some sort of promo pic for one of the two brand new videos I'll be debuting at Acen (assuming all goes well).
"Hey, I'm going to Acen!"
That's great, but I'm not. So that's why I need you. I need someone to act as my eyes and inform me in brutal detail how my videos do. That's all. Simple right?
So if any of you con nerds wants to be my spy [for the nominal fee of "absolutely nothing"], PM me.
And for those keeping track, these will be my "March" and "April" vids. So I'm technically on schedule, right? They just won't be released until after the con Announcement Rush style.

Chapter Thirty-Three: In which our hero is submerged in mighty waters. Flooded!

2008-03-31 20:06:33 Really random, & funny, & I loved all the fake ad/poster things you included...is there anywhere we can see them as pics?
Wish Granted:

Yes, all the fakey fake ads and some that didn't make it in (cause they were kind of crap)
