  • FUCK!!!!!... 2002-04-05 14:36:10
This is an email I just typed out to my father regarding a Ford Bronco II he sent from San Antonio from Dallas to exchange with me for a Ford Escort today. Keep in mind while reading this that the guy bringing it left me waiting 40 minutes in the Owens parking lot yesterday as well with the his only excuse being "caught in traffic". Today's attempted exchange was supposed to happen at 11am. To borrow a line from TommyRude's video, "This is the hell that is my life!"...

"Alright dude, I've had a few hours to simmer down from what transpired today and I think I'm ready to write an email without cussing. First off, I feel sorry for whatever company that David guy works for since he obviously has no idea what it means to be on time. I got at Owens at 10:55 and proceeded to wait patiently until 11:20. After being a no show again, I called his cell phone # and he said he had forgotten the paperwork at home and said he was running late and should be there in 10 minutes. I said okay and waited in the parking lot for him. 11:40 rolls around and I decide to drive around the lot to look for him, I find the Bronco parked at the back of the lot empty and determined that he must have gone inside. I park and go inside Owens to find the guy ordering food and then he has the nerve to address me as "Hey buddy". Arrrgghhh!!!! Okay, this was not the worst part though. I take the keys to the Bronco and the paperwork and give him the Escort keys. As I'm driving off, the truck stalls in the middle of the damn street. I had to put the hazard lights on and I was lucky there was some construction workers to help me move the truck out of the way or I would have really been screwed. One of the contruction workers pops the hood and determines I'm out of gas after filling a soda can with some gas and pouring it into the cabrureator (I think that's what it is?). So, I end up having to walk about 15 minutes to the closest gas station, buy a gas can and a dollar's worth of gas and then walk back to the truck. I put the dollar of gas in and it still didn't start. Since it seemed this was a lost cause, I went into the building the truck was pushed to called Sears to get a tow setup. They said it would be 30 minutes and I go back outside. I try to start the truck again and it finally starts (Woohoo!!). So the problem was that the guy left the truck me with no fucking gas!!! I drive it back to the gas station, fill it up and it runs smooth now. I left it at the Firestone next to my apartment to get the A/C flushed and filles and they said it would run me close to 200 bucks since the old Freon the truck needs is like 75 bucks a pound. He also asked me about if the hoses had been all replaced with new and if they were oiled correctly. I said I didn't know and told him to just do what he could with it. I left the truck there and walked home. I get a call at 4pm from Firestone and they proceed to tell me that while evacuating the hoses the compressor hose blew out and all the Freon was lost, so he had to charge me twice for the Freon they used. Also, he said he didn't want to replace the hose since someone else had done most of the AC work already and he didn't want to be held liable by warranty for it. He said I could either have them do all the AC work (1200-1500 bucks) or have someone else replace the hose. So basically I'm gonna have to walk back to the Firestone and shell out 300 bucks for AC work that made it worse than before. Also, in the middle of all this I had forgotten to call Sears back to cancel the tow truck. I called them back about 45 minutes after I asked for the tow truck and the dispacther proceeded to read me the riot act about how the truck had been waiting there for 15 minutes and that they would be getting in contact with Sears to make sure I get billed for the wasted time. This goes down in history as one of the worst days I've ever experienced in my life and I have a feeling that it's only going to get worse from here..."

  • Hmmm... 2002-04-04 13:37:21 Just got done filing my taxes online and I must say I'm a little disappinted with my return. The government bleeds me dry all year and I only $350 bucks in return! Dammitt!!! Well, at least I have a little extra cash for a new PC and maybe I can actually get something done with the hell demon that is Premiere. The A-Kon deadline is fast approaching and I haven't even started any timelining yet. ^_^; Tomorrow will be editing intensive barring any unforeseen visitors. Also, it looks like my truck is ready to be swapped for my spiffy little Ford Escort after months of borrowing. I'll really miss that Escort but the Bronco is free, so I can't turn it down. I'll post some pics of the old '84 online once I get the exchange done.
  • Hmmm... 2002-04-02 13:16:31 Yesterday was very interesting indeed. First off, the singer of 'PFS!' (Craig Miller of Sportsradio1310 the Ticket) was having a remote at a local bar in my area. Since I hadn't talked to him in over a year (I used to work for the station), I decided to burn a copy of 'PFS!' and give it to him for his perusal. I've known him for about 5 years now, so I wasn't expecting him to get upset or anything about me using his song in an AMV but yanevano. After getting to the bar, we talked for about 20 minutes and I told him about the video and the response it has gotten so far (mostly good ^_^). He was actually flattered I used the song and even offered to let me do some documentary type work for one of their upcoming concerts. He truly is a great guy with a good sense of humor. He said he'd email me within the next few day with what he thought of the video and I'll be sure to post it here when he does.

On the AMV front, I actually installed and used Premiere today. ^_^ I must say it is much more difficult to use than WMM or Video Wave 4. It took me an hour just to figure out how to move the files from the bin to the timeline and another hour to figure out how to use the razor. ^_^; After messing with it for about 6 hours straight, I got a semi-decent grasp of some of the features and even made a little test video. Big thanks goes to Adiamante, Akuma, ShonnenDizzyCow, poolfan and others in the AMV chatroom for giving me some helpful pointers during my transtion time between WMM to Premiere 6. Hopefully, I should be able to have a firm enough knowledge of it by this weekend and actually start making my new Lain video before the Akon deadline. BTW, I owe a couple of reviews (Beowolf and Diamond Diegger) and should have them done by this weekend. Thanks for your patience. ^_^
  • 1252 Journal hits!!! Woohoo... 2002-03-30 05:24:20 Someone actually reads this stuff huh? My parents made the 5 hour trip from San Antonio to Dallas last night to come visit me last night. They'll be staying the weekend and generally causing havoc in my tiny apartmen. My dad has a penchant for eating ham and cheese slices on Ritz crackers and NOT USING A PLATE!!! My mom has a tendency to rearrange all my stuff into tidy bundles and always feels the need to want to redecorate my place with new bed spreads and bathroom sets. My sister likes to use my computer without my supervision and that's just a meltdown waiting to happen. The thing that really causes me a dilemma is, "Should I show them PFS??". I've shown my parents all my videos before and they usually get a kick out of them (my mom really liked 'Happy Fun Time' and my dad likes 'Liquid Petals'). This time however, I'd better play it safe and delete all traces of PFS's existence for at least this weekend. Glad I got that done before they showed up at 4:00AM IN THE DAMN MORNING LAST NIGHT!!!
  • Shoppers guilt... 2002-03-28 18:35:17 Today I decided to hunker down and bite the money bullet by paying 70 bucks for a good seat to see a Jerry Seinfeld stand up act in Dallas. Normally I don't make these kind of extravagent expenses but for some reason I really felt like seeing some good stand up and his HBO special was pretty funny so I figured "Why not?". A few hours later it dawned on me, "Man, I could have bought groceries and had my gas tank full for a month with the cash I just dished out!". This better be a damn funny show or I'll really regret it...On the AMV front, I need to get on the ball and start on my new Lain video for Akon. I haven't even installed Premiere yet and am getting the feeling that I won't make the deadline. Maybe I'll do what Fluxmeister suggested and send in 'PFS' in hopes some judge will panic and award it Best Artistic. =P...While riding into work today I was flipping the radio stations and came across an old song I haven't heard in awhile, Cher's 'Half Breed'. Strange as it may seem, I said to myself "You know what, if you substitute the word 'Cherokee' for 'Saiyan' in the song, it would be perfect for a tribute to Trunks and Gohan". I immediately came to my sense after and reminded myself of the my vow to never make a new DBZ video again (although I may remake my old one's someday). Hmmm...
