JOURNAL: burntoast (Danny Jun)

  • Life is boring 2003-04-26 17:15:01 It's been awhlie since I typed in this thing...

Its a very boring Saturday... -(-

Right now I'm makin a vid using DB footage, for a contest I decided to participate in. The footage is (oddly enough) provided by the contest host, which is in WMV format.. I think that I'm the only one using Premiere to edit with, while others are using WMM(2). ;p

    So... bored...

I think I might get a job over the summer, if I get off my lazy ass to do anything. A part-time shift at the nearest fast food restaurant may be good... I wonder how much I could earn by being a cook? I like makin food for other ppl, including myself, so I guess this would be a fiiting job for me. =) I'd be mucho-grateful if I get around $500 bucks a week. Then I'll be able to save up for a car (I get my license sometime next year), more anime DVDs, and computer upgrades..

I have so many ideas for vidz.. but pratically no footage to work with... -(-

I might go out soon, bleh. =
  • 2003-02-21 19:43:44 Wait, heheh.. I just noticed that Grave of the Fireflies was made by Studio Ghibli, not CLAMP.

    I'm such a baka. *_*;;

  • 2003-02-21 19:05:42 Jebus! I got school off a whole week b/c of the snow storm... I feel kinda tense about next week, considering the make-up work my teachers will give me. =(

I've discovered my new favorite anime series - Chobits. Methinks I heard of it b4, but I didn't bother checkin it out 'til now. If you haven't seen it, it's pretty good.. made by CLAMP too. Speaking of CLAMP, I really didn't like Grave of the Fireflies. Unless it's my Donut King speaking.. "Hail the chocolate, spinkly sensations and say that GotF suxoRs!!", I honestly have to say it sux. I dunno, it's just not my 'thang', yo.

Back to Chobits, I'm serously drawn into shounen and luvey-wuvey, mushy-wushy stuff.. Someone hit me over the back of my head with a frying pan!!

  • 2003-02-15 13:00:46 Today's Saturday! My favorite day of the week.. =P it's snowing too, so cold these days.. Yesterday i was checkin out some amvs made by TommyRude and ShounenDizzyCow, to get ideas of better lip syncing and to think of new ways to use transitions. Maybe someday I'll be able to get my vid seen at Otakon.. my dream.

I also got to see fan subs of Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion. Now I realize why people like it so much. = The ending was a surprise, I think Director Anno wanted to be symbolized as Shinji one way or another. To say the least, I enjoyed it, and I hope to get the dvds very soon.

I discovered one of the best game soundtracks/trance music ever, the Ridge Racer Type 4 Original Soundtrack. it's made up of mostly trance-type beats, which blends smoothly with piano, drum & bass, and jazz. Get it while you can! @_@

  • 2003-02-08 13:29:26 Hmm.. a journal? I haven't written in a long time to express my emotions in words.. This should be interesting.

Two days ago I watched the end of Berserk. I downloaded the entire series onto my HDD; just as I did with Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Love Hina. I mean it's just there on the internet, waiting to be d/led, and it's damn convenient. I really ought to stop though, and I regret the fact that I'm leeching off of the pirated anime. In fact, I might go to Power Gamer today or tomorrow to buy some legitimate dvds. =p

Back to Berserk, if you dunno what it is, it's a Record of Lodoss War-like medieval anime. It spans across 25 episodes, with a very inconclusive and gory ending. The reason that I'm writing about this is b/c of the weird emotional impact it had on me.

(**Spoiler**) After watching the ending and realizing that Griffth (now as Femto) was raping Casca, I was overwhelmed with grief. Gatts' arm is caught in a monster's teeth, but he hacks off his arm to save caska. Soon, he's pinned down by a monster, and he's forced to endure the worst horror of his life. Then the series suddenly ends. I was staring at my comp screen for awhile as I thought to myself,"WTF!!?". I immediately deleted every single Berserk ep I had.. I came to the conclusion that this was the scheme of the director of Berserk, to end the series so suddenly. This would passively force the viewer to buy the manga in order to watch the story going.

Other than the heart-wrenching ending, I really liked Berserk. I've yet to find another anime that's as dark and gruesome as this.
