  • AMVs quality 2001-10-01 17:00:16 Just before you start reading: yes, this time I am serious.
    These are just thoughts that have been wandering in my mind for a while. I roughly divide all the AMV I see in three categories:

    1) Masterpieces (~ 2%)
    2) Good/nice AMVs (~ 83%)
    3) AMVs that suck (~ 15%)

    These percentages can be compared with those relative to the AMVs I like:

    1) Liked (~ 5%)
    2) Not impressive (~ 80%)
    3) Disliked (~ 10%)
    4) I wanna format low level this AMV (~ 5%)

    So, what the hell this does means? It means that, in my point of view, is not that hard to make a good AMV. Everyone is able after a couple of tries, to basically make some good edits and a pretty decent action sync. And all of this makes a nice AMV.
    Another thing I noticed is that if you use a good Anime (a movie with outstanding graphics and animation, eg: Ghost in the Shell, X, etc) and you match it with some kind of "catchy" music you'll probably end up with a very good AMV (unless your editing really sucks).

    At this point my conclusion is that anyone is able to make from nice to very good AMVs with only few tries (maybe three or four)... but what this "good" means?
    Well, it means that you can make a decent AMV (even a good one if you use the "right" stuff) but it will be something empty in some way.
    What I really want to say is that using outstanding animes or popular music, all mixed with a cutting edge editing isn't sufficient to make a real good AMV.
    This explains why I like so little AMVs even if most of them are nice/good for me. The real difficulty, the hard task, is to find out the IDEA. The perfect match between audio and video. The clip selection and arrangment.
    Since the music can move your feelings, one has to use the images to multiply that emotions.
    I know that all of this maybe can sound very stupid to someone. But this is how I judge AMVs. Most of them are well done, but very few are able to "say something".

    For whose of you concerned about the title of this entry no, Britney Spears is not driving me crazy. Is this fu*#@ng MS Excel... ooh geeeez!
    Why didn't those lazy Microsoft's guys have made a much more friendly automation interface? Shit, I mean, I can't even access the cut and paste events!!!
    So, another advice from your beloved jerky drunk friend: never try to program an Office COM addin more complicated than the sum of two numbers.
    What does this has in common with AMVs? Well, maybe you'll discover it in the next episode...

  • AAAH! Screwed up half an hour of work! 2001-10-01 09:00:52 This is great... I was reviewing "Blu cheese cake" from Kenshin (almost 30~45 minutes of work) and at the end, proud and satisfied about myself, I hit the post button. Then... MY COOKIE OR SESSION OR WHATEVER HAS EXPIRED!! I had to login again and then... I lost completely my opinion.
    WTF!! Sorry Ken... I'll review it again as soon as possible.
    For all of you guys this is an important lesson: don't be as idiot as me! DON'T WRITE DOWN YOUR REVIEWS DIRECTLY ONLINE!
    But I am sure that if you do, you'll never be so jerk...

    ...never never take orange juice, cereals, milk and coffee all together.

  • Who will break first? The concrete wall or my skull? 2001-09-29 11:45:21 Yeah, it's actually how I feel in this very moment. It's about six months that I have not *even* the chance to touch Premiere... and <loud> I wanna make a videooooo!!! </loud> *cough*
    Now I feel a little better. I really have to start a new project or I will die for starvation in AMVs... oh Geez!
    For anyone of you brave souls who are reading this journal (basically me, myself and I) please note that making AMVs can have a negative impact on you and your children.

  • New Video is coming 2001-09-12 22:56:28 Hi Everybody!
    Since Phade has given us the capability of using a journal... well, why don't use it? :)
    Cristina is about to release a new video. This time is about Berserk, her *absolutely* preferred series. The song is still top secret for now (:P), but I can ensure you that you will be shocked about it.
    It should be online in a week or two so... stay tuned! :)
