Huh? Singapore got Anime Club, meh?
2002-01-31 12:56:04
I just found out that there is an anime club in Singapore! It's fantastic news... I thought the red-tape here made it impossible for anime viewings and such, because I had heard of a failed attempt before.
Anyway, this anime club is called Miyuki Animation Club and their webpage is at http://miyuki-anime.org
Looks like it's pretty active... there are viewings, Cosplays, and even pinics! Wahahah! How cool is that? Now when I start raving about the psychological depth of Shinji's characterisation in Evangelion, people won't look at me funny!
If I got to ever join a Cosplay, I'd dress up as Nausicaa! Or that psycho chick from FLCL. Unfortunately I'd have to cut my hair short...

setting the stage

Just watched Nausicaa for the umpteenth time tonight. It was fantastic... watching it again after having worked on part of my Nausicaa AMV was very refreshing. I got lots of ideas on how to fill up some of the gaps. I had to scribble in a notepad as I watched the anime so I wouldn't forget the cool stuff I was visualising for my vid.
There's a BIG plus to watching the anime again - quite a few of my friends watched Nausicaa with me, and they ALL loved it. So now I've got an audience for my Nausicaa videos when they're done!
Now all I got to do is find them time to get my NLE system up and running...

angst catharsis

I've lost my Linkin Park MD... *howl*
What will I listen to when I feel angsty?
I'm now listening to Dido. It's not the same. For one, I can't air-guitar furiously to it.
Yesterday in the morning I had almost five hundred dollars in my bank account. By evening, I had $48. My pay is ALL GONE! Aargh, I need Linkin Park!
But the money went to good things - a new 40 GB hardisk, the deposit for some stock video for my new corporate video project... and... oh dear, I don't remember. I hate the way I spend!

":... as sexless as eggs!" ~ the Boyfriend

I'm... so... tired...
Had a really long week. And I had to work on Sunday too, shooting a documentary type video for a soon-to-be wed couple. It was really exhausting... don't know why, but shooting jobs always drain me out - my eyes are dry, my temperature is up, I can't hold a decent conversation... so forgive me if my journal entry tonight is... distracted.
Ooh, I hate Windows XP so much. I didn't know I needed the installer CD to even be able to uninstall it. I can't even boot into DOS and format the bloody drive! But good news: I finally got the installer so now I can now KILL XP. DIE, XP DIE! MUAHAHHAHA!
And I just got my pay-cheque for the last wedding job... and an advance on the website job I was wailing about in my last entry. Lalalala! The friend I'm doing the website for finally agreed on the design, so now I can work at getting the thing online.
I just hope the workload will lighten after this week. It's supposed to be the holidays!!
Check out this guy's website: www.rustboy.com I love his spirit - he's creating a 3D animation using "modest, affordable, home software". And from the clips he's put online thus far, it looks absolutely fantastic...
Just in case you're wondering: today's journal entry quote was uttered by my boyfriend as we were slouched on his sofa talking about... hm, can't remember. It made me laugh, though. And no, it was nothing X rated either. Tsk, get your mind out the gutter!

On biting off more than I can chew

Aargh, who am I trying to kid?? I am not a designer!
I accepted a job as a web designer from a friend who wants to create an online portfolio . Something simple, uncluttered, and classic... and monochrome, he said. I was bwahaha-ing to myself, congratulating myself over the easy money I was going to get for it... but now it's almost 2 am, and I haven't yet come up with something decent! Aaargh!
