Noooooooo! Don't laugh!

Thanks for the ASARI link, EK.
ASARI's a great artist no doubt... but Vincent kissing Elektra? Vincent playing the bass? Vincent LAUGHING?! Err... I prefer my Vincent dark, tortured and murderous, thank you. He's scary and sinister and I wouldn't let my sister date a guy like him, but, ohhh... eyebags have never looked so cool.
But still, despite the trauma inflicted on seeing Vincent without a scowl, I think I'm hooked on the website. I havn't seen a lot of Vincent fan art around yet... too bad this site is in Japanese.
I think I have a thing for scowling anime characters... I love Vegeta (yes, the one from DBZ) too!
EK, PLEASE continue drawing Vincent scary... I love him the way you draw him!

whip-sshh!

Kyburg, I think you've hit the nail on the head - it's harder for the adults to accept one is growing up. And thanks for the sympathy with regards to my grandmother. And yes, you bet I'll be emailing my dad more often now.
By the way, ahs anyone checked out EK's new picture of Vincent on her COwboy Bebop site? http://www.big-big-truck.com/bebop/ It's fantastic... I LOVE VINCENT! Ooh, I'd love to give him a proper spanking, oh yes!
Ami: Oh, Vincent! Time for your hourly spanking! You've been a bad boy, haven't you, what with all your plans for destroying the world! C'mere, you! BWAHAHAH!
Vincent: *whimper*
On a less kinky note, I am preparing to finally do the personal video project I've been planning to do these past few months... I wonder if I'll be able to link it here? Hm, maybe not... it has nothing to do with anime, except maybe my use of the opening music from Cowboy Bebop.

a not so happy Chinese New Year
2002-02-12 13:36:16
Today is the 1st day of the Chinese New Year. Last night and tonight was spent having family dinenrs with my extended family, as is the tradition.
But without my grandmother around anymore, things are different. It's as if she was the glue holding everybody together. No matter how busy anyone was, they'd make the effort to join us for dinner. But last night, it was a measly turnout... only three families were there for the dinner. It was pretty alright though. Because it was smaller, the dinner was cosier and a lot less segregated. My uncle got tipsy, and started giving me advice about life and stuff. It's not anything new and revelationary, but the sentiment is appreciated. At least he cares and wants to contribute in some way into my life.
Tonight wasn't as great though. The family started gambling, and because I had to wait for my uncle to fetch me home, I had to wait to 12.30 am before we went home. I wasn't exactly tired, but I did have a lot of things to do... I kinda wish he'd been a little more considerate.
The collection of red packets this year wasn't fantastic. I understand though... what with the economy being the way it is, I wouldn't expect the same kind of collections. For those not in the know, Chinese red packets containing money are given to youngsters and single people by the married couples. It's kinda like Christmas, but with gifts of money instead of socks.
The money did come at a good time though... I've been pretty short these days since I paid my overdue phone bill.
I kinda wish my dad was back. He's missed his leave this month because nobody wanted to take his post on the ship because of the festive season. And because this ship route takes longer than most, he'll only be home in April... and I'll be long gone and in Australia by then. I haven't got that great a relationship with my dad, but not seeing him for a year is going to be weird.
Sigh.

Neigh.
2002-02-10 14:03:43
Why can't I sleep normal hours? I've been sleeping 4 hours a night for the past two weeks, and come the ONE night I can afford to plonk into bed at 2 am, I find myself STILL surfing at 3 am.
Is it an Asian thing? I used to think all young people slept late, but apparently not. A Malaysian friend told me how she called an Australia friend at 9.30 pm regarding a project. The mother of the house picked up and yelled at her for calling at an "indecent hour". "Nobody calls at 9.30!" she howled.
Wow. Weird. In Singapore, 9.30 is when they show prime-time soaps. The only people who sleep at 10 pm are those over 70 or under 10.
But still, I have come to the age where I can actually say: Man, I better start taking care of myself... I am not as young as I used to be.
This is a scary, scary time.
Come Tuesday, it will be the year of the Horse in the Chinese calender.
I am a horse person. I am obviously not 12, so it means I am 24 this year.
Horror of horrors. I will be a quarter of a century old next year. I should sleep more.

470

Haha, I just re-read my journal entry for 2 Feb, where I talked about installing a 470 GB drive. Yes, I hear the gasps of awe and yowls of envy. Unfortunately, it was a typo. It's a 40 GB drive.
I wish I had a 470 GB drive...
