  • better than fish! 2002-03-19 16:23:55 I've been hearing a lot about people's crappy days in their jorunals. EK's seems to top the list. Maybe you've been having too many good days? It's Murphy's Law; if you're having too good a time for too long a period, be afraid... VERY afraid. Heh.

Your cuss vocabulary is rather limited, isn't it? :) I mean, NINE instances of the f word? Trite and unimaginative.

Here's a link that could help you out.
    http://toy.thespark.com/burn/

DeepBLiu, the link might help with dealing with your rage at losing Penny Arcade. I don't know about the back pain, though. Still, you have my sympathies. I have a bad back too, which is quite lousy when you have to lug heavy camera equipment around for hours and hours on end or sit at the computer several days in a row to get an editting job done.

I had my first lesson in voyeursim last night. Two guys and a young woman were working on the computer in the apartment facing my dorm's common area. Aganst the dark of the rest of the building, the lighted window was like an aquarium. There was nothing sexy, so it wasn't that kind of voyeurism. But wait, there WAS the 21-inch LCD monitor. :) I was having dinner in the common area of my dorm and watching at them work, talk, sit, and um... do stuff that normally wouldn't engage the attention of a brain cell. But shite, it was fascinating. It was like watching the Sims, but better, because you couldn't MAKE them do anything. Every little inane gesture and mundane action was unexpected. Charmed was on and I hardly watched it.

Sick? Yes, I think so too.

But it does illustrate the fascination with watching things outside your control.

I am taking Post Modernism and Popular Culture, and last week the lecturer was talking about cinema. Fascinating stuff. I got to watch a whole bunch of movies from the very beginning of the cinema revolution. I may mention this episode in an essay if I can manage to make it gel. Ooh, a study in voyeursim and cinema. :)
  • Yes, I bite. 2002-03-19 01:10:43 Hm, am I the only one who's noticed that there haven't been any new banners?

Today I went out for lunch with a group of people whom I'd worked with for my TV project last term. Had a great time eating dumplings at Chinatown. Other than one Aussie guy, all the people in the group were Asians. We all ganged up to convince the Aussie that vinegar and dumplings go together. I am happy to report that he converted.

I took my digicam along and went absoultely mad snapping pictures. I took about 50 pictures in the space of two hours. I think my friends saw more of my camera than my face. But I'm glad I brought the camera, because now I have documentation of the teeth marks I left on the Aussie guy's back.

    Arhahahaha!
  • "All this will be yours one day" "Wot? The curtains?" 2002-03-18 17:41:32 I just realised something... I can quote Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, but I haven't watched the movie. All the quotes I know are from the game (which is the best movie to game adaptation EVER), from friends who have watched it (who could hardly stop cackling for me to catch what they were quoting) and from downloaded sound clips.

    Quotes:

What makes you think she's a witch?
Well she turned me into a newt!
    A newt?
    I got better.

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

I'm not dead! I think I'll go for a walk!

    ------------

When I grow up, I want to be a hamster.
  • Can we make them make babies till they die from it? 2002-03-17 23:28:24 Sims can die from:
    - changing the bulb (electrocution)
    - drowning (making the Sim swim in the pool and then taking away the ladder)
    - designing a house too big (so that visitors get lost and die)

These are all tried and tested.

    Go play.
