JOURNAL: ProphetDK (Richard Marshall)

  • Hmm another week 2004-12-23 14:35:32 Yes it is time for tha national holiday of Christmas. O joyous days.

To start off mondays Game was a bit relaxed. Our Dm has decided that we need to change our characters again, and so we each were busy making characters and roleplaying some intros.

This paragraph was omittedd for I do not wish certain people to view it.

    Sorry about that.

Christmas is the time where I have no time.. well relitively.. I need to encode for my new video and its been hard to get the time to actually set it up.. I will do that tonight and have it done this weekend. heh.

I saw Oceans 12 last week as I have yet to review it.. a bit busy again..

This movie was good although a bit on the low end compaired to the first. But of course as sequals tend to be worse than its prequal. this was not surprise. I felt that the movie kept a good pace and the funny bits were indeed funny. Just a couple places where they had fun with the camera and distracted from the movie's focus.

The chemistry for the actors were the same as the first. Chatherin Zeta Jones was a nice addition to the menagerie and gave an element that was missing from the first movie.

All in all the movie was good and it gets a 7/10. Good to watch if you like the first one.

Went to Blue Man Group. Nice show and as I thought it was funny and good.

  • Just a moment 2004-12-09 12:30:59 Ein minuten bitte.
    Uno momento.
    Jankan man.
    Matte.

Ok, this week I saw: Christmas with the Kranks,

This movie is pretty funny in its scripting and Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis worked well together in this movie. The cast was very well put together and the funny moments were funny and the drama moments stood out with a gleam of holiday cheer.

But the downfall was not the acting or the story it was the camera director/director/whoever it was that decided they like Rack-focusing. If you are not familiar with the term, it is a use of the depth of field changes to allow different things into and out of focus. ( say you have two apples on the table, one sitting 2 feet from the camera and the other sitting 5 feet from the camera. Because of lighting and lenses you are able to keep the 2 ft apple in focuse, with adjustments with the lense you switch from just the first apple to the both apples in focus and back to just the first apple).

Needless to say when done right you have cause the audience to swtch targets of their eyes because people tend to look at the focused object first.. but in this movie it was done everyehere... down the street ... in the mall.. dialog scenes... out windows... it was to the point that i was getting annoyed at the amount of fuzzing and unfussing this movie had.

so because of this the movie I cant recomend with out warning of a little wishy washy feeling in the visual area. This movie gets a 6/10. Would be a 7/10 if it were not for the rackfocusing..

    This weekends movie was Alexander:

I have to say this. they didnt try to hype up the movie with unbelievable feats and characters. More historicly believable than other tales that were made from greek storyes (Troy, Heracles) Though it is a bit on the long side ad 2:55, just under the 3hr mark. This movie did drag on a bit, and with only a few battle scenes it played more with the dramatic sequences than the raw impact of action sequences that Oliver Stone has given us. Natural Born Killers, comes to mind.

This movie was not bad and the chast of characters were again meshed well. The only thing was it seems Angelina Jolie did not have makup to give her the "aged" look as 20 and thirty years went by and she dodnt look older than her son Alexander who went from 5 year old to 30 years of age, through the use of child actors and sublte make up.

Some of Alexander's less known characteristics are played throughout the movie. This movie was ok but may prove to be boring to alot of people.

    I give this a 6/10.

There two this week for my missed one last week. :)

  • 2004-12-02 11:51:39 Gotta come up with some thing for a local anime Show :).

What happened to Paulo (Katsumi AMVs).. Seems he in under a lot of flack from people online from his journal entry. I like his amv's and hes a cool guy. People...

No movie yet this week, have had this major head cold thats keeping me all stuffed up.

Down to the last eppisode of the dvds for project: blue, hopefully I can convert them this weekend while doing the Anime show intro (Alternative).. Footage for that is already ready :) Ha..
  • The weekend 2004-11-29 11:59:33 Heh I enjoyed the time from work and a time to relax.. although I do wish I started ripping for Project: Blue (New video idea) A bit earlier than last night... hehe.. Well I am almost done with the VOB Pulling.. next is the Encoding to a source I can actually use with FCP. I am going to see if I can use my knowledge to go back and use an previous ideology for this video. We'll see.

The timing is coming well on the other Vid its 98% finished.. just need the timing to hit smoother in a smidgen of a frame or two.

I am a bad typo guy... I type as I go and try to minimize it but alas, Its futile.

My big dinner over the weekend was Sushi, odd huh?

Unrelated notes: As last years Road trip to Anime Expo turned out in a muddled chaos on one end of our group they have decided to start planning when I start planning. heh

Seeing as I had the rooms and tranportation in place for three people all ready outlined by january. And They had 4 people that were "suppose to show up" And had no direct means of confirming this until we actually showed up (late) Yeah.. they want to have it all smoothed out this time.

This past AX was a bit of a hassle because of this.. my group had a smother transition into the Con itself but the other group had some clashes it seems, as I now get wind of some of the .. more interesting tidbits.. And we still dont know what happened to our cheese.

  • Night life? 2004-11-26 18:01:58 It seems as though living in vegas has one this going for it. the 8-5 jobs are a rarity, unless you work for an office. hehe Yeah this place is filles with 6-2s and 7 - 3 with PM and AM intermixed. But hey we are a 24 hour ton and alsmost everything stays open for 24 hrs around here. Book stores close at 11:00 pm in some cases, but thats a book store...

Eh what is one suppose to do

Be the way I saw the movie "After the Sunset":

This movie was a nicely paced movie that kept the interest of its viewers with nice and catchy dialog and nice scenes. And I am not just talking Salma Hayek in a bikini either. Some of the things in the movie were a bit disjointed but they were mostly incidentals that could have been a smige better, like the demolition scene back ground. Other things like the Character interaction make up for these in the scenes any way.. I am just "nit-picky" as some of my freinds say. Other than that it was a good solid movie with Woody Harrilson and Peirs Brosnan with nice back and forths, their characters did have a nice flow to them making their scenes nice to watch.

    I give this a 7/10.
