JOURNAL: Kariudo (Derek )

  • 2006-12-22 01:39:19 back home after a 6.5 hour train ride.
got to sit in front of people who were very talkative...the problem was that they often had little to no clue about the details of what they were talking about, just a little annoying.

Physics final went...pretty well. Actually came out of it feeling good. I know I messed some things up, but pretty much anything would seem good after calc 3...

Now I get to not think for a while...I'm making a trade between physical and mental labor. Hopefully I'll be able to finish off my current project and get started on the next one (planning to do RahXephon next)

so glad to be out of calc 3
  • 2006-12-20 17:19:41 yep...calc 3 sucked.
I pushed out some of the newer material to remeber the older material...and there was more of the old material, but it still doesn't feel good...

and I still have to study for physics tomorrow...and do laundry and pack.

after I'm done with my final I get to do somefinal packing and hop the train to get back home.
Got results for my final program and labs for the semester. Somehow I got 100 on the labs, and I got another 100 for my program (prefect program & labs this semester) so it looks like I'm getting an A (or B+)

when I'm home, I get to work (oh boy)...but at least I get to see people I know and eat real pizza (not this stuff that we get at school)
  • 2006-12-19 18:41:20 programming final went pretty smoothly
didn't like the first 3 questions...but I feel that I eventually got them

Calc3 on the other hand...is gonna suck. (stuck on studying limits)
In multivariable calculus, it isn't enough to find 2 paths that give you the same result to prove the existance of a limit. (Just because it doesn't not exist twice doesn't mean that it exists for all possibilities)

I remember that I got the problem wrong on the second exam...so I look in the book and find this:
    if there is an epsilon (e) > |F(x,y) - L| and there is a delta (d) such that 0 < square root((x-A)^2 + (y-B)^2) < d...then the limit exists and converges to L

where I am...I got L (plug the values the limit is approaching for x and y to F(x,y))
I have the expression for epislon (e) and delta (d)...but I have no idea what to do from there. My professor...flat out sucks. The book isn't much help either, so I tried searching online, no dice...

In this case, proving a limit doesn't exist is often easier.
...I don't suppose there's anyone who reads this that can help, but if there is, all the better. PLEASE HELP!
  • 2006-12-17 03:43:03 man...some beef stew would really hit the spot right now.
dunno why, just one of those random things, like...hmm, I wanna drive 900 miles in 2 days to pick up a friend to bring him to a party that lasts 8 or so hours
(I actually did that. 300 mile trip one way, in my little 87 Mercury Lynx)

    so bored...
    so bored...
but at the same time, so calm...it seems that everything is in its place
(no I'm not drunk...or high...just bored and waiting to take my finals)

I really need a hair cut
  • 2006-12-15 15:17:50 done with my history paper.
I should get to studying for programming (but I'm not too worried about this one...it's been a pretty easy class and it's an open book final)

most worried about calc which I have on Wednesday. I'll definately be using the weekend to study for this one.

Finally got some material for my professional portfolio. I got a thank-you letter with the campus letterhead for volunteering as a tutor. I also got $30 worth of free food at a local mexican restaurant .

now that I actually have some time to rest I think I'll try to get enough of my amv done to release a beta. (Might have to rip a few more disks though)
