JOURNAL: Kariudo (Derek )

  • 2007-05-14 10:18:15 well...the final came, and went.
we had 2 hours to finish...and I finished in 30 minutes.
Once again, I'm really glad that I DIDN'T study for it (I used caps for lack of italic...)
some hopeless morons actually came without anything to write with (it was a scantron test, ya know...the ones that you fill in your answer with a #2 pencil)

went to bed at about 9:30pm, layed in bed for 2 hours, hopped on the org til about midnight...layed in bed for another 3 hours.
Needless to say I'm not feeling very awake atm.
I almost fell asleep at 10:30...but then the loud suitemate had to come back with a few friends :/
    just my luck...

I need to get some sleep, and then study for calc
already turned in my final statics homework, so I don't need to worry about that.

final logo voting starts on Wednesday, hoping mine makes it...and that at least 1000 people nominated. I don't want to see godix in a bunny suit any more than you do (maybe even less)
  • 2007-05-13 22:15:18 bah, finals start tomorrow.
up, bright and early...6:30am local time
...not looking forward to it :/
that means I get to go to bed...uhh...right about now (9pm local time).
hopefully I'll be able to get to sleep (and stay asleep) for the inevitable 12:30 gaming and discussion session that the loud suitemate always has (though now it's mostly the loud friend that I hear)

did a little more packing today, most of my clothes are packed (what I won't use during the week)
I'll probably finish packing what I can on thursday...hopefully my roommate and I will do the cleaning before wednesday.

I'll be bored as soon as I go home, but I'd rather be bored at home than bored here.
  • 2007-05-12 02:07:36 this is my third shot at trying to make an entry today :/
I just didn't have anything to really say (not like I have anything more to say now...but it just feels like it'l turn out better this time)

Classes ended on thursday, I had 3 classes, but only went to 2 of them (digital logic just happened to be exactly when my anime club's end of the year party was)
so I went to the party...and it flopped. Signature anime club orginization skills at work here, people were supposed to bring consoles and games and music (I'm guessing that amvs wouldn't have been shot down)
someone ended up bringing a ps2 and guitar hero, someone else had some older anime series.
For food, we ordered bento sets from the local Japanese restaurant...but I would've had to pay at least $6 to eat...I stuck with the good 'ol pizza, pepsi and cheese bread combo for $5.35 for the food court at school.

so in short, I'm bored already. I'm already in the summer mindset, so studying will be hard (probably just getting myself to start studying...seems to be fine after that)
I really shouldn't work on my video until I do most of my studying.
*part of this summer mindset is an ignorance of what day it is...it took me a few seconds to remember that today is Friday (technically Saturday)

...no idea what else to say, so I'll just give ya some stats:

  • 2007-05-10 00:58:31 ...there is a yelling contest going on outside.
Drunken morons (or just morons in general) yelling, people trying to sleep (and a few other drunken morons) yelling back.
Telling people to shut up doesn't really help in these cases.

...didn't sleep well at all last night, stared at the ceiling for 3 hours.
Decided to take my laptop and surf online in the common room for awhile.
That would've been nice, if the wireless here was actually working :/

that meant I was kinda feeling off all day (physically and mentally). instead of realizing the easy way out, I re-derived the formula for the centroid of a triangle for the statics problems we did in discussion.

before I tried to sleep last night I got lucky on the adobe forums, found a potential fix for my problem...and it appears to be working. Once I have a chance to edit for more than 30 minutes I'll probably post the results.

interesting stuff on the history channel tonight. Started with magnets (which there are suprisingly few books above the elementary school level for), moved on to welding...then some other stuff, and now heavy metals.

last thought: you only need to remember 3 things...
    1: my brain is fried
    2: #6 = FLCL (or Ray=out)
3: Pizza Hut supports the rebellion
  • 2007-05-08 15:32:09 got mah thermo quiz back. I did alright.
58/75 (avg was something like 52)
forgetting about expnsion/compression work cost me some points in one problem :/
stupid sign error made me lose points on another problem.

no calc today, but I should still go to digital logic. (even so, we should have been able to cover all the material before today to make this class optional :/ )

my amv is coming along. I've only spent a few hours actually editing, and I have about 30 seconds done. My planning and notes have helped a bit...but I ended up throwing out most of my ideas in that 30 seconds.
My betas are wierd though. I'm using x.264, and on my latest one I made the min quant 28. It still looks good, and besides that I didn't really enable any options for better compression. (at this rate I'll have this 5-minute amv turn out to be about 23MB)

I'd like to have more beta testers, preferably ones that have seen RahXephon. pm me or AIM me if slightly (or more than slightly) interested

...almost forgot to enroll for classes, band didn't make it in, nor did engineering materials.
A lot of stuff was unavaliable because of Dynamics. So my finalized schedule for the fall is:
    Dynamics
    Discrete Information Structures
    Assembly Language programming
    Programming language concepts
    Electric Cricuts 1

ended up having no class on Fridays, 15 credits (max load is 18)
this knocks a lot out of my CS major, but I still have to take electronics 1&2 (which require circuts 1&2) before EE classes really open up
