uhh...stuff
and things too
Just got back not too long ago from circuits discussion. It's always fun when you get quizzed on stuff that we haven't gone over in class yet.
We weren't quizzed this week...but we did go into a bit of detail on thevenin and norton equivalent circuits.
Part of this is a good situation...I have to pay attention in discussion, and actually learn the concepts and then it's reinforced in lecture (which I pay attention to because...well it's lecture, the stuff that we will be tested on for sure)
the other part is a bad situation...a fair part of my grade is riding on the quizzes, and being quizzed just after you learn something can be a disaster.
Other than that, I actually feel a bit relaxed. Instead of having homework that just keeps on coming I actually have a break during the week.
I need to finish 1 dynamics problem, and that's it. I might get circuits homework tonight (depends when the TA posts it), but I'm usually swimming in it by now.
gonna go eat soon, then I'm really gonna make a push to edit something tonight.
I considered watching shawn of the dead...but I'm just not getting into that idea.
Friday from 7pm to 7am Sat I'm goin to a lan party being held by the IEEE-CS
not sure how I plan to bring my stuff back from it yet (since I will be bringing my desktop, in all its blue shining glory), but it'l be a blast.
After watching /<ING C/aVIC/ 's new video, I made a comment that I might just have to go out and buy .hack//G.U.
so on Saturday I did (vol.1//Rebirth)
somewhat interesting so far, but lots of reading...I'm waiting for it to get really exciting, because from the cutscenes it looks like it will (hope I won't end up disappointed)
Last thought for now:
I've had a deviantart account for awhile now...but I never put anything on it until just recently.
I have more stuff, but I don't have it scanned in; so for now, those who are interested can look at my mspaint excursion that happened a few years ago (probably coming up on 2 years ago pretty soon)

Got my package from newegg today
that 120mm fan sure is a lot bigger than that 80mm I had. I was just kinda surprised to hold it in my hand...kinda wondered if it would fit for a few seconds.
I hooked up one of my old 80mm (no brand, aluminum led fan [plastic fins]) and my new 80mm (Arctic cooling AF8025). I was kinda surprised that I could hear the AC fan...but I was also able to hear my old fan too when I put it next to my ear.
The AC fan had a lower pitch, which should make it less noticable...it also moves a bit less air imo (I'm not able to get the exact cfm of my old fan)
having a proper fan setup has really improved my cpu temp. It was reduced from 49-51C at half load to 44-46C at half load.
a 5C drop is pretty good
The other thing I ordered is a cold cathode. It lights up my entire case with a very pleasant blue glow, and doesn't put out much heat either.
I was messing around with the inverter and accidentally touched the other pair of contacts. Since people are fairly decent conductors, I got 680V of ac current through my thumb...burned some small holes into my thumb.
(you need a power inverter to power the CC since it runs on AC...and a computer power supply gives you DC)
Burning flesh doesn't smell too good
I'll include 2 pics (one with the CC on and another with it off)
I tried avisynthing the images to make my webcam look better...but it didn't really work

Got 2 of the 3 exams I took last week back today.
circuits went well (27.5/30)
Dynamics sucked...really sucked, but at least it sucked for everyone else too.
I got 55%, the average in my discussion section was 43% and the high was 61%
it's like physics all over again.
by wed I should know the class high/low/avg
for some reason, I seemed to do better on the harder problems *is confused*
schedule for the night: Circuits homework, Dynamics homework
I'm wondering how Death Note will do on Adult Swim...only 6 more days til I find out
Couldn't really stay asleep last night...so I was very tired all day.
Almost fell asleep in Circuits, dozed off in Dynamics, started to nod off in dynamics discussion, head was bobbin' in Assembly language
looks like it's time to start on that homework...

Did reading for class today, looks like we're starting Java in plc next.
Java should give me an easier time, since it's pretty similar to C++...unlike ML which is radically different.
Ordered another pizza tonight, and I got the right toppings this time...but I accidentally sent the driver to the wrong building. It wasn't too big of a deal, since it was only a block and a half away.
Still not enough sauce on it imo...the amount of sauce on an "extra sauce" pizza is about what I would put on a normal or even light sauce pizza
got an invitation to Tau Beta Pi recently, a national engineering honor society.
I think you have to be in the top 1/8th of your class to be invited in your junior year
I need to re-read the email so I know what's going on with that.
I somehow managed to throw something together for my match...but 2 hours to edit a 5 minute video isn't an easy task. WC got drafted into being the judge, and I'm glad that the first minute of my video held together fairly well. I think I could've made it even better if I only had to focus on that first minute
I really gotta stop staying up til 4am on the weekends, it always ends up sucking when I have to wake up on Monday morning...but I have a reason why I'm staying up that late (as opposed to freshman and sophomore years)
gotta add more info to the con page now that I have it. This includes guest bios. special events, more registration info, con rules, some panel info
recently ran across some potential disk damage on one of my raptors...a disk defragmentation couldn't finish, and then disk error-checking couldn't finish.
Ended up scheduling a boot-time chkdsk scan, which came up with no bad sectors or lost information...which is good.
still wonder why the first few scans said there might have been physical disk damage
Last thought for now: actually feeling fairly tired, I could probably go to bed right now.
Noting good on tv atm, trying to work on plc homework again will drive me crazy, forums are pretty slow (except for that one person in amv announcements that can't take any criticism to save their life...you know the one)
