Finally, I get a few days to relax...too bad I don't have a few more days.
Metalocalypse marathon was alright, but I just wish that it would've started later.
I like to sleep in when I can, and waking up at 9am on a Saturday isn't really my idea of fun.
Ended up using my laptop to play it...until it shut down on me again.
I'm guessing that it was the heat from the nearby projector.
We had to wait after I had the setup ready for everyone to get there, so I just started playing amvhell4 for people. I personally liked 3 a lot, and 4 was only ok imo, but everyone else seemed to like it (though I think the reaction from 3 was stronger)
after my laptop shut down we tried another person's laptop...but it didn't work.
It didn't work because the laptop had vista, and the projector wasn't hdcp compliant
luckily there was another xp laptop there, which we eventually got to work (though the audio on that one was noticeably worse)
I had plenty of time to do stuff after the marathon, but I just didn't have the motivation to do anything...but today was a different story.
I actually worked on one of my side projects (as well as a little bit on gateway)
I got somewhere between 30 and 40 seconds done today (~1/3 complete on that project now), seems like my slow streak may be ending. It won't seem like it to the rest of the world, but it'l feel like I'm working faster.
my rig is behaving very well, folding, browsing thar interwebs and clip searching (avsp + vdubmod) didn't slow my editing down at all.
That puts me at 100% usage (folding only uses what I don't need atm, so it should never affect editing), the avsp +vdubmod +editing put my ram usage at about 2.5GB out of my 2.75GB (I technically have 3GB, but 256MB of it isn't recognized :/ )
premiere was running smoother than usual, and my temps were only about 50C
which is a good 15-25C below the max safe temp
still waiting on news from WC's match

went downtown today and got myself some nice threads.
the whole thing took about an hour...the sales rep couldn't find anything that fit me (probably the biggest reason why I hate shopping for clothes)
I'm just too darn tall for my own good sometimes.
finally ended up finding something that kinda fit, the jacked fit me in the shoulders (more or less) and the sleeves were almost long enough...but everything else relating to the fit was off
the matching slacks are slightly big for my waist, and not quite long enough
and that's exactly why I'm having it tailored (good thing I did that today, as the tailoring will be done in a week)
now I just have to get a hold of Regina to show me around Marquette so that I know where I'm going next week
summing up homework this week:
circuits was normal
dynamics was pretty straightforward, could've finished it in one night if I didn't have plc.
PLC was rough, but I got most of it done (there's a point where spending more time to finish one part of one problem [out of 14 problems] just isn't worth it)
Assembly language seemed too easy, guess I'll find out how I did later
Second midterm for discrete information structures was yesterday, and it seemed to go pretty well for the most part...but it also seemed that way for the first one (which ended up being not so good)
dynamics and circuits exams coming up next week
Got guitar hero 3 while I was downtown as well, I wanted .hack vol 2 (but they only had 1 and 3), and I also saw F.E.A.R. perseus mandate (2nd expansion) but decided on GH3
Good luck to WC tomorrow, WC for Iron editor!

Homework frenzy
exam tomorrow, plc homework due tonight, Dynamics due friday.
I wasn't able to finish my plc homework...got stuck on Priority Queues in Java.
the only difference between a priority queue and a normal queue is how things are removed (in this homework at least, usually there are a few more differences)
The homework for plc seems to be way too long, especially for a 3 credit class (I'm pretty sure it's 3 credits)
I've been doing homework pretty much all day (when I'm not eating or in class) for the past 3 days.
I should still do some studying for my discrete information structures tomorrow...one more big push for tonight.
Another marathon on Saturday, this time it's Metalocalypse...not anime but still entertaining.
Gotta go downtown on Friday to find a nice suit jacket (I need it to have "business formal" to wear to the Tau Beta Pi induction ceremony next weekend)
About the only other thing that's happened is that there was a bomb threat on campus today. There was at least one, but it sounds like there might have been more.
So class was ended at 5:45pm. An officer told people in my class to evacuate. Class was going to end then anyway, since the instructor had to take off for an appointment.
Getting close to finishing the website, so I'm hoping to have it up shortly after the planning meeting for the convention next week
Finished .hack//G.U. vol 1 on Sunday, and they made sure to cut it off at an interesting point so that you'd buy the next one.
Lots of reading involved, but it was enjoyable overall.
The only thing I didn't like was being forced to almost lose in the demon palace tournament every single time.
I would've beaten every single one without having to use the avatar :/
I'll probably pick up the second one sometime

It was a trap, I got all my homework over the weekend.
didn't help that my homework that I was supposed to have a week to do (due tomorrow) was posted 2 days late.
so I go from almost no homework to full load of homework just like that...
Got some more work done on the website background, still want to figure out something a little different for the other (non main) pages...I finally got something to check "low res" displays on. My tv has an s-video in, and can really only have text readable when it's at 800x600.
I've almost completely eliminated the horizontal scroll bar.
not lookin like I'll be able to finish the site by Wednesday at this rate :(
my roommate is deciding to stay up til anywhere from 2-3:30am watching movies now...it's kinda hard to fall asleep when you can hear the movie, and when the screen lights up the whole room (and the brightness changes a lot)
still haven't gotten my assembly language exam back :/
lan party on friday didn't have nearly as many people as we were hoping.
we wanted 30, had 9 sign up and had 4 show up (including me)
it was still kinda fun, and the setup went smoothly. Had my first energy drink, Red Thunder (like Red bull, but cheaper)
it tasted like smartees, but had a really bitter finish. It kept me going through the night...which was good, because I had to walk about half a mile back to the dorms after it was over.
I don't want to rely on it to keep me going through the day (it would stop working after a while), but if I really need to push a few more study hours out of a day or two it'l be an option

oh no...who let beth near the sugar?
I fear there is only one way to prevent the worst...*begins to revive the snake*
had another exam on monday...won't get the results til this coming monday, but everyone seemed to be not happy about it...at least I wasn't the only one who felt kinda bad about it.
1. I didn't really remember the algorithm for binary division, so I know I got a lot of points off on that one.
2. 93 can be represented in 7 bits...and I kept on getting an incorrect 8-bit representaion. That made converting between various representations rather hard
3. Tables...I hate them in html, and I hate them in tests. We were given 4 numbers (one in: binary, decimal, base-3, and octal) and we had to convert them to the 3 other bases...so if we were given 3 in decimal we would have to convert it to 11(binary) 10(base-3), and 3 (octal). converting a decimal (base 10) number to a lower base (like 2, 3 or 8) is simply done by repetitive division
93/3 = 31 R0
31/3 = 10 R1
10/3 = 3 R1
3/3 = 1 R0
so 93 in decimal is 10110 in base-3
pretty simple right? now try doing that for a number around 20,000...still easy, but it takes a (relatively) long time. Do that about 7more times and you're running out of time on a test
I'm supposed to have homework to do...I know that I should have assembly language HW and circuits HW, but I don't...
it must be a trap...
I actually got about 30 seconds of editing done yesterday, and I'm at a point where I can start working in AE on one of my projects.
